GENERAL

As T. Brooker was injured, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Finz QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1400m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by M. Cahill, rider of the 2nd placegetter, EXCELLENT SPIRIT, against LITTLE WEALTH being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, stewards found that LITTLE WEALTH did shift in and make slight contact with EXCELLENT SPIRIT near the 200m, however bearing in mind the margin between both runners at the finish, could not be satisfied that this interference had any material effect on the placings and therefore dismissed the protest and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

LITTLE WEALTH – Slow to begin.

SHADES OF PEARL – Jumped very awkwardly, losing ground. Had to be steadied from the heels of BARBERANCE approaching the 900m. A. Best, rider of BARBERANCE, was advised to provide greater clearance in future when shifting ground.

DODGE THE PRESS – Overraced in the early stages. Cast its near hind plate in running.

MORE THAN A ROSE – Unable to improve after leaving the 600m and until the entrance to the straight.

Race 2: Foodworks Cotton Tree Maiden H'cap – 1600m

SOLAR BY PANELS – Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was subsequently cleared to race. Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to the lead near the 1200m.

DISORDER – Overraced in the early stages.

DANZER GIRL – Held up in the early part of the home straight.

MAKAS KING RULER – Jockey B. Stewart dropped his whip approaching the 100m.

TAMBO’S HEART – Jockey T. Bell could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 3: Maroochydore SLSC Centenary Maiden H'cap – 1600m

SOCIAL DELIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

MR FANTASTIC – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AMY LYNN – Bled for the first time from both nostrils during the race. Trainer P. Moncrieff was advised it will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months under AR53A.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Soft 6.

CABANA BOY – Apprentice L. Tarrant reported that his mount overraced in the early stages and raced ungenerously, and soon after straightening weakened. He recommended to connections that they remove the blinkers for the horse’s future starts.

Race 6: Finz QTIS Class 3 H'cap – 1000m

ASHGROVIAN – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 8: Maroochydore SLSC Centenary BM80 H'cap – 1600m

THE YOWIE – Raced 3 wide in the early stages. Weakened badly over the final 300m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities, however trainer T. Sears was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to racing again.

MR SCARY – Raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 9: Specialist Export Services Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

NEXT MINUTE – Restrained to avoid heels after passing the 900m. Apprentice T. Williams, rider GALLIVANTING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when not being clear of NEXT MINUTE, which resulted in jockey A. Spinks having to restrain to avoid heels of that horse. Apprentice Williams was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 23 August and to expire at midnight 3 September.
