Race 1: Fuji Xerox Business Centre Sunshine Coast Maiden H'cap – 1600m

HEROIC ROCK – The start was delayed due to the gelding having to be replated. Slow to begin. Apprentice S. Eilbeck reported her mount hung in under pressure in the home straight.

DUAL ACCOUNT – Blundered shortly after the start and made contact with another runner. Overraced in the early stages. Connections were advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused until its form improves at non TAB venues.

SENSE THAT – Raced wide in the early stages.

AWESOME MORE – Momentarily inconvenienced when attempting to secure clear running near the 500.

MAID OF MOURNE – Raced wide throughout.

REGULARITY – Raced wide throughout without cover.

Race 2: Ideal Electrical Supplies QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m

VENETIAN BEAUTY - Declared a late scratching at 10.20 am on veterinary advice.

MISHANI PILGRIM – The start was delayed due to the filly being replated and further delayed when A. Allen was dislodged when proceeding to the barriers. Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer L. Ross for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time for this horse and ITCHINTOWIN in Race 7. Jumped away awkwardly and raced greenly throughout the event. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly regarding its racing manners. Inconvenienced near the 350m by another runner and had to be steadied.

MIZARU – Slow to begin. Raced wide.

GET REAL GIDGET – Slow to begin. Shifted in despite the efforts of its rider near the 350m. Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell dropped his whip near the 400m. He reported his mount raced greenly throughout and may not have been entirely comfortable in the rain affected conditions.

AQUAJEWEL – Raced wide without cover.

CELTIC MIST – Trainer R. Cameron reported the filly to be lame following the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore fetlock. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.


Race 3: Mask Events Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

ANGEL MIO – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

ROLLING ROMAN – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Disappointed for clear running near the 200m and as a result was steadied from heels and shifted back to the inside to secure clear running. Apprentice K. Stanley reported that despite being slowly away and inconvenienced in the home straight, she was disappointed with the overall performance of the gelding and, in her opinion, the horse did not respond to her riding as she would have expected in the home straight.

LAMBENCY – Slow to begin.

CLANDISE – Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the 400m.


Race 4: Number One Quality Homes Class 2 H'cap – 1200m

DIDDY WIN DIDDY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground at the start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the horse felt awkward in its action. Trainer P. Duff advised stewards he would have veterinary examinations performed on the horse and would advise stewards of any abnormality that comes to light.


Race 5: Parklands Tavern Maiden H'cap - 1200m

EUCHRE KING - The start was delayed when the horse was fractious during its preliminary and had to be resaddled prior to the start. The gelding then raced greenly throughout the event and was uncompetitive. Trainer J. Phelan was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

DADDY LONGLEGS – Slow to begin and lost ground . Raced wide without cover.

SHUGAR BEL – Slow to begin.

BOYS FROM THE BUSH – Overraced during the early and middle stages.

RUSTIC MISS – Apprentice S. Eilbeck reported her mount overraced during the middle stages and had to be steadied from heels near the 600m. Held up during the early stages of the home straight before shifting back to the inside near the 300m.


Race 6: The Pump House Class 3 Plate – 1600m

SOLITARY MAN – Slow to begin.

KOBI CREEK – Raced wide during the early stages before improving and settling in a position outside the lead.

SILENT DUKE – Jockey D. Browne reported his mount travelled comfortably, however did not respond to his riding over the concluding stages and was disappointing.

REFUSTRESS – Shifted 3 wide after passing the 800m and remained wide without cover from that point onwards.

SILVERENE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m.

FLYING SAND – Apprentice L. Tarrant reported that the gelding was reluctant to settle in the middle stages and seemed more relaxed than normal pre-race. Stable representative R. Zielke indicated that after having had a jumpout during the week, the horse may have been left somewhat flat and she also added that the horse may not be entirely suited to racing over 1600m.


Race 7: CNW Electrical & Data RQ Summer Provincial Series Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1300m

CIRCUIT BREAKER – Slow to begin. Jockey K. Wharton advised the gelding hung out from the 800m and was unable to fully test the horse over the final 400m and had suggested to connections to experiment with the horse’s gear. Steadied when placed in restricted room by another runner after passing the 600m. Trainer J. Mott indicated that he would have his veterinary surgeon inspect the horse in the coming days and report back any findings to stewards.

ALL THINGS IN TIME – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 800m.

GET ON – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 800m and shifted wider on the track and raced 3 wide from that point onwards.

ITCHINTOWIN – Became unbalanced and shifted in after passing the 600m. Stewards questioned apprentice L. Tarrant regarding the tactics adopted when he rode the horse in the second half of the field which was in contrast to the horse’s recent racing pattern. He stated that he was given no specific instructions and it had been his intention to ride the horse in a more forward position, however after travelling a short distance he was of the view he would have had to use his horse too much to cross to a position closer to the fence and elected to steady in order to secure cover and a position closer to the fence. He indicated that the mare then overraced in the middle stages and in hindsight this may have been detrimental to the horse’s overall performance. Trainer L. Ross confirmed there were no specific instructions.

GOLD HORIZON – Jockey J. Lloyd advised his mount travelled well and responded well to his riding in the home straight, however laid in and away from another runner after passing the 200m and commenced to weaken. He added that the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise over the concluding stages. Stewards will interview trainer B. Murray in relation to the horse’s recovery following the race.

Race 8: Troy Trevitt Homes Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

LIGHT SHOWS – Trainer S .Kendrick was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

CASINO MOON – As T. Wolfgram was indisposed, R. Johnston-Bell was substituted as the rider of the mare.

BOLD NAVIGATOR – Slow to begin. Overraced when the pace slackened passing the 900m.

HARADIFY – Slow to begin. Overraced and raced 3 wide without cover.

BILBERRY STAR – Slowly into stride.

FRISCO JOE - Obliged to shift in to avoid heels after passing the 1100m and had to be steadied and then commenced to overrace, and when the pace slackened approaching the 900m was inconvenienced again by LIGHT SHOWS, which continued to shift in. Apprentice S. Eilbeck, rider of LIGHT SHOWS, was severely reprimanded for this incident.

SOLITAIRE BABE – Overraced at heels and had to be steadied when the pace slackened leaving the 900m.


IN THE KITTY - When the pace slackened after leaving the 1000m commenced to overrace at heels and had to be checked. Became unbalanced shortly after entering the home straight when inconvenienced by another runner.

RICOCHET TOBEY – A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened in the home straight and finished last, found it to be in a distressed state and making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer G. Hutchesson was advised to have the horse scoped and report the findings back to stewards.
