Race 1: BOQ Mooloolaba Plate – 1600m

ENEMY’S DEFEATED – Slow to begin.

JOLIE LAIDE – Shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner on jumping away.

RARE AIR – Tightened for room on jumping away. Raced wide without cover.

FAWCETT – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Tightened for room near the 1000m and had to be steadied.

GUNDY MAGIC – Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 100m.

MYSTERIUM – Raced wide.

ROMANOV – Caught wide in the early stages and then ridden forward to take up the lead passing the 800m.

WILFIES LADY - Stewards questioned apprentice M. McGillivray regarding the tactics adopted today which was to lead in the early stages when the horse has not previously led. He indicated pre-race the plan was to attempt to secure cover preferably in a midfield position, however after beginning well it became apparent he would be caught wide he then elected to ride forward to secure a position closer to the fence. He added that the horse was having its first start over 1600m and the mare raced keenly in the middle stages. Stewards accepted the explanation.

Race 2: BOQ Mooloolaba Clear Path Home Loan – Class 3 Plate

KARIEGA – Slow to begin.

LIBERATION – Held up rounding the home turn and had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between horses near the 400m before being shifted wider on the track to secure clear running. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

STEVENSON – The saddle slipped back during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.


Race 3: BOQ Mooloolaba Love Your Bank Maiden H'cap – 1200m

BOYS FROM THE BUSH – Change of tactics. Connections advised it was the intention to have the horse ridden with cover just behind the lead. The horse overraced in the early stages and settled outside the leader.

VISONA PLAYBOY – Slow to begin.

MR METICULOUS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages when the pace slackened.

O’FILLIATE – Steadied to avoid heels approaching the 1100m when RAINBOW SPIRIT shifted in. M. Gray, rider of RAINBOW SPIRIT, was reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

ROBABANK – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m.

KEEP THE RHYTHM – Raced wide without cover.

PASSION IN FLIGHT – Raced wide.

PORTSEA – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S. Eilbeck was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior the 100m.

LAKOTA SIOUX – Jockey R. Fradd was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 4: BOQ Mooloolaba Bank Different Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

SCRAP COPPER – Stewards accepted the explanation for the change of rider from E. Wilkinson to A. Allen. Overraced after passing the 800m and had to be checked from heels. Then obliged to race in restricted room until approaching the 500m.

MY ASSIGNMENT – Slow to begin. Raced erratically for a short distance when steadied passing the 700m. Raced wide without cover.

CERTIFICATION – Obliged to steady from heels near the 700m when the pace slackened.

GREY TIGHTS – Raced wide without cover.


Race 5: BOQ Mooloolaba Class 2 H'cap – 1600m

CORONATION BRUISER – Bled during the race. As this was the first time the horse has bled, it will now be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.


Race 6: BOQ Mooloolaba Customers For Life Class 5 H'cap – 1800m

ROGALI – Slow to begin.

RED LETTER DAY – Slow to begin.

THE ILIAD – Rider dropped his whip near the 250m.

POLYNIKES – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 7: BOQ Mooloolaba Equipment Finance Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

RUNNING THUNDER - Became extremely fractious in the barriers and became cast with its near foreleg caught in the front of the barriers before putting its legs over the partition to the adjoining barrier stall to the inside. When the horse was removed from that stall it became cast again in the adjoining barrier stall to the outside, causing injuries to both SENOR CARLOS and SILVER HEELS. Following an inspection by the veterinary surgeon all 3 horses were declared late scratchings at 4.06 pm, with the following deductions applicable.

10 cents in the dollar for the Win #2
10 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
15 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6
15 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #9

SP bets are subject to deductions

Trainer J. Murdoch was advised that he would have to provide 2 barrier certificates for the horse, 1 of which to be obtained in an official trial.

METALLIC POINT – Jockey M. Hellyer was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.






Race 8: Boq Mooloolaba Business Banking QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1200m

WICKED INVESTMENTS – Trainer P. Butterworth was reprimanded for failing to enact a gear change to remove concussion plates from the horse’s gear. Raced wide. Jockey R. Fradd reported his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

WALTZ IN FLIGHT – Slow to begin.

WICKED SNIPPETS – Overraced for a short distance passing the 700m.

CRAIGLEA DIXIE – Raced wide without cover.

SHADOW LAWN – Jockey Colless was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. G. Colless reported the horse travelled well however was under pressure shortly after entering the home straight and, in his view, was somewhat short in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B. Baldwin was at a loss to explain the performance and would report back to stewards any abnormality that came to his attention.
