Race 1: John Burgess Electrical QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m

TRUSTY MISTY – Slow to begin.

SHARP SPEEDO – Began awkwardly.

ASTRONOMIC – Turned its head to the off-side as the start was effected and began awkwardly.

BALBOA ROCKS – Raced ungenerously for a short distance leaving the 500m. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: Weddings At SCTC Maiden H'cap – 1600m

VEGANER – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover.

ELIZONDO – Slow to begin.

PARIS BY NIGHT – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m, bumping another runner.

PALMER – When being restrained approaching the 1000m threw its head in the air and shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder of the event.

STORMY DEEDS – Raced wide.

HIDDEN BELLS – Shifted wider to improve approaching the 200m and was bumped by another runner and when placed under pressure continued to shift out and finished very wide on the track. Raced wide throughout. Jockey M. Hellyer was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account M. Hellyer’s exemplary record.

SAVAROSE – Jockey A. Allen could not offer any explanation for today’s disappointing performance.



Race 3: Montrose Charity Raceday 23 April Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1400m

CANNY EXCEL – Shifted in at the start and bumped another runner.

ELLAWISDOM – Bumped at the start and lost ground.

SHIRAZ ATTACK – Stable representative Mr Ben Rodgers was fined $100 for presenting the mare late to the enclosure. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, which raced below market expectations, jockey D. Browne stated that he expected the mare to race in a more forward position, however due to the early pace of the race was content to take a position back in the field following the eventual winner, Ellawisdom. He further added that the mare never travelled comfortably throughout and when placed under pressure leaving the 500m failed to let down and, in his opinion, was disappointing. Stable representative Mr Rogers was at a loss to explain the performance and advised that a further veterinary examination would be conducted once the mare returned to its stables, and gave an undertaking to stewards to advise them of any findings that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.


Race 4: Hot 91.1 Ladies Oaks Day 27th May Maiden H'cap – 1000m

HALLSIDE REBEL – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start became unbalanced for a short distance.

NICE TIME – Began awkwardly.

SAMUEL JAMES – Raced 4 wide without cover.

COONOWIN RUBY – Raced wide.

SCARLETT HUSSIE – Raced wide.

LOVE TO LIVE – Raced wide. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from the thumps.

LONHAAN – When asked to explain the performance, jockey D. Browne stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages but did not respond to his riding as he expected soon after straightening. He recommended to connections that a tongue-tie be applied for future starts as he was of the view that the horse may have got its tongue back during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slow post-race recovery. A swab sample was taken.


Race 5: Caloundra Cup Day 2 July Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

PERFORATION – Began awkwardly.

NIETA – Forced wider approaching the 400m by FOUR EXCEL, which shifted out. Rider D. Browne was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Shifted ground and bumped approaching the winning post.

STAR HERO – Had to be steadied from heels near the 400m.

JETINTOIT – Shifted ground and bumped approaching the winning post.

AL ALMIGHTY – Raced wide without cover.

GALAXY QUEST – Raced wide.

CHANGE OF LUCK – Raced wide. On return to scale the gelding shied, dislodging jockey J. Taylor, giving him a seemingly harmless fall.


Race 6: Formals At SCTC Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

CASINO GARDENS – Began awkwardly.

KIRSTEN COVE – Hung out for the majority of the race, shifting wider rounding the home turn. Trainer M. Mair was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

WEWONYA – Raced 3 wide throughout without cover.


Race 7: Functions At SCTC Class 2 H'cap – 1200m

MONACO PLAYBOY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

RUNWAY ANGEL – Began awkwardly. The saddle shifted back on jumping away. Shifted out leaving the 400m to obtain clear running, making heavy contact with DHARAVI.

DHARAVI – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Bumped heavily leaving the 400m.

LOST THIEF – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages.

ANGEL OF LIBERTY – A post race veterinary examination of the mare, which compounded in the home straight revealed lacerations to both hind hocks.
