Trainers J. Whelow and C. Marsh were both fined $200 for failing to provide their treatment book when requested to do so as per AR178(f).

Race 1: IGA Sunshine Coast Benchmark 75 H'cap – 2200m

SATIRICAL BOY – Trainer J. Chan was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

LORD COCONUTS – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground.

WIMPOLE STREET – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

KAISER FRANZ – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

FILTERO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SECOND OBSESSION – Jockey M. Cahill reported that his mount raced disappointingly, adding that when placed under pressure shortly after entering the straight and the mare did not respond to his riding.

ZIMBALI – Apprentice jockey L. Dittman advised the gelding responded to his riding when pressured from the 500m, however weakened in the home straight and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness on the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to its next race start.



Race 2: IGA Sunshine Coast 1MW H'cap – 1400m

WOW FACTOR – As P. Hammersley was to be overweight on this horse and MISCHIEVOUS DEVIL in Race 7, T. Harrison and A. Allen were was substituted as the riders of those respective horses. Jockey Hammersley was fined $300.

ELEGANT COMPOSURE – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse will be ridden in a forward position today. The horse subsequently settled outside the leader.

ORADONNA – Slow to begin.

MR LEBROCK – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide.

UNBOWED – Held up rounding the home turn.

UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Raced wide without cover.

DECONSTRUCTED – Jockey D. Brown could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance today.

BANDA SPICE - Jockey A. Allen advised stewards it had not been his intention to lead, however after he obtained a favourable position just behind the lead was satisfied with how his mount travelled into the home straight, however when asked for an effort the filly failed to respond and proved disappointing over the concluding stages.

Race 3: Rent 2 Own Cars Australia QTIS 2yo Plate – 1000m

BURN NOTICE – Connections advised the horse would be ridden back from the wide alley. A pre race veterinary examination of the horse at the barriers cleared the colt to start after it had slipped over in the enclosure. The horse was ridden accordingly.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by L. Dittman, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Dreams Aplenty, against Winning Rupert being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 100m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and from the stewards observations, it was ascertained that whilst Winning Rupert shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip and took Dreams Aplenty of its racing line, they were not satisfied that this incident warranted a reversal of placings and the protest was dismissed and correct weight semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

GREYT START – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition.

WINNING RUPERT – Slow to begin.

AQUAJEWEL – Raced wide without cover.

CHARNLEY RIVER – Raced wide without cover.


Race 4: IGA Sunshine Coast Class 6 H'cap – 1000m

LONDEHERO – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

LOADED AND READY – Jumped away awkwardly.

ANOTHER WHISKEY – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted out near the 800m.

DREAM OF SLIPS – Had to be checked near the 800m to avoid the heels of SPIRIT OF DAWN.

SAMMI JAIN – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 800m.

T. Brooker, rider of SPIRIT OF DAWN, which shifted in at the 800m when not fully clear, causing interference to another runner, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

ROYAL OCCASION – Disappointed for a run and had to be steadied on the home turn.

APPLE THIEF – Overraced and had to be steadied from heels near the 700m.

ALPEN ROSE – Steadied from heels near the 700m. Altered course rounding the home turn and shifted back to the inside to secure clear running. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 100m and had to be steadied.


Race 5: Lion Dairy And Drinks Princess Stakes – 1600m

SAGA OF THE STORM – Jockey B. Stewart was fined $200 for being overweight. B. Grylls was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jumped away awkwardly. Steadied to avoid heels near the 300m.

ST REMY – Slow to begin.

KEBEDE – Slow to begin.

TIDE’S OUT – Pulled hard in the early stages and raced wide for the remainder of the race.

MYSTIC OPAL – Raced 3 wide from the 800m.

FLEUR D’ORAGE – Steadied whilst weakening rounding the home turn. Raced wide.

SAHARA SIREN – Jockey B. Pengelly was advised to exercise more care after allowing his mount to shift out on the home turn when not fully clear of FLEUR D’ORAGE.

PASSION IN FLIGHT – Disappointed for a run near the 300m and had to be steadied and alter course to secure clear running.

KIM NOIR – Jockey A. Allen reported it had not been his intention to lead, however after beginning well he allowed his mount to stride forward.

Race 6: Montrose Therapy & Respite Services Tails Stakes – 1600m

ADORABEEL – Pulled hard in the middle stages.

LOCK’S LEGEND – Obliged to alter course near the 400m after having difficulty obtaining clear running. Inconvenienced near the 200m.

R. McMahon, rider of ALLKNIGHT SAINT, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift ground under pressure near the 200m, inconveniencing another runner.

KOBI CREEK – Raced wide without cover.

JETSET LAD – Raced wide.

SIR MOMENTS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide.

LUNAR RISE – B. Spriggs reported that, in his opinion, his mount did not run out a strong 1600m after travelling well in the early stages.

KURTLEY – Disappointed for a run over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.

AVALANCHES – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 150m.

Race 7: IGA Sunshine Coast Ascot H'cap – 1200m

CASUAL CHOICE, FRESPANOL, WHISKEY ALLROUND and JETSONIC (Race 8) were all declared late scratchings at 2.15 pm after stewards were alerted by trainer Mr T. Gollan that the vehicle which was transporting the horses to the track had veered off the highway resulting in the vehicle coming to a halt on its side. Stewards immediately requested veterinary assistance at the scene and all horses were safely removed from the vehicle and transported to a veterinary clinic for further assessment.

ELLAWISDOM – Slow to begin.

JESSY BELLE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MISCHIEVOUS DEVIL – Raced wide without cover.

WORTHY CAUSE – Apprentice L. Dittman was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 8: IGA Sunshine Coast Mick Dittman Plate – 1000m

BIG TREE – As B. Stewart was to be overweight, D. Browne was substituted as the rider of the horse. B. Stewart was fined $200.

BLUE DESERT MOON – Jumped away awkwardly and then bumped shortly after the start. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had sprung its near fore plate and had speedy cuts to its near hind leg. Trainer T. Sears indicated he would have his own veterinary surgeon perform tests on the horse and that he would report back any findings to the stewards. Stewards will make a determination then as to whether any action should be taken in relation to the horse.

AIMALAC MILLIE – Shifted out on jumping away and made contact with another runner. Raced in restricted room near the 700m. Lost near fore plate in running.

SOLD FOR SONG – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 700m and had to be steadied.

MAGNETTE – Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with another runner. Jockey B. Spriggs reported his mount did not show its customary speed out of the barriers and was under pressure throughout and then weakened very badly in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

LA DOICE VITA – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Raced wide. Jockey R. Fradd reported that after travelling well the horse failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and proved disappointing. He indicated that the horse may be better suited to rain-affected track conditions.

WICKED INTENT – Bumped on jumping away. Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale that, in his opinion, the colt did not appreciate the firm track conditions today.

DAM WONDERFUL – Had to be checked near the 600m when tightened for room. After taking evidence from jockey B. Grylls, rider of DAM WONDERFUL, and riders involved in the incident, it was established that MAGNETTE shifted out slightly and LA DOICE VITA shifted in. Whilst stewards did not feel the incident could be attributed solely to the actions of jockey R. Fradd, rider of LA DOICE VITA, he was nevertheless advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

IN HIS STRIDE – Obliged to check from heels near the 600m.

BLUEBERRY HILL - Had to be checked from heels near the 600m. Held up when obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 350m.

GRACEVILLE – Held up when obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 350m. Raced wide.

DRAM OF RED – Raced wide.
