Trainer C. Richardson reported today that an endoscopic examination of Dangerous Desire failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and that it was her intention to continue with the horse’s preparation and would add a tongue-time to its gear.

Race 1:  Sunshine Coast Daily Class 1 H'cap 1600m
 
KERMANDIE STAR – Slow to begin.
 
CARTAGENA – Raced fiercely and had to be restrained from the heels of ABERLADY for some distance passing the 1300m.  Shifted wider approaching the 1200m. Continued to overrace in the middle stages.  Jockey J. Missen was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
CHEERS THANKSALOT – Forced wider near the 1200m.
 
ABERLADY – Jockey B. Stewart was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 2:  John Burgess Electrical F&M Maiden Plate - 1000m
 
TURQUOISE – Slow to begin.
 
DO I HAVE TO – Slow to begin.
 
JET’N’WILD – Slow to begin.   Shifted in and knuckled, becoming unbalanced near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority of the race without cover.  Jockey G. Goold reported at scale that his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
INTREPID MISS – Had to be eased near the 600m when momentarily tightened for room.
 
ALASTRIONA – Raced wide for the majority of the race without cover.
 
QUEEN OF SAVANNAH – Jockey M. Cahill reported that the horse was fractious prior to the race and also in the barriers, and although it showed speed to settle in a forward position, when placed under pressure soon after straightening failed to respond and weakened badly over the final stages. A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no significant findings other than an elevated heart rate.  
 
 
Race 3:  Paddy Walsh Painting & Solid Plastering CG&E Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
EXCEED ALL ODDS – Became fractious in the barrier gates and lunged forward, striking its head on the front partition and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3.42 pm.  Connections were advised that a further barrier certificate must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
ACE STRIKER -  Became cast in the gates after being loaded, and   was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at  3.39 pm.  Trainer T. Thomas will be advised that he must provide a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
APACHE BOOM -  Which was drawn in the adjoining stall to ACE STRYKER, was also examined by the veterinary surgeon after it was kicked by ACE STRYKER and  declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3.39 pm.
 
Subsequent to the event all monies invested on all 3 horses were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

29 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
22 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
32 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets

Jockey J. Byrne, rider of ACE STRYKER, was examined by the doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
DONAVIA – Which was in the adjoining stall to ACE STRYKER, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and clear to race.
 
DRAGON IN THE CASH – Jumped away awkwardly.  Raced wide without cover.
 
PRINCE OF TIE – Bumped by another runner near the 400m. Hampered near the 150m when taken wider by SILVER FOX, which shifted out under pressure.
 
DESERT COWBOY – Bumped by another runner near the 400m.  Hampered near the 150m when taken wider by SILVER FOX, which shifted out under pressure Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
T. Brooker, rider of SILVER FOX, was reprimanded for failing to prevent her mount from shifting ground at the 150m, and advised to stop riding and straighten her mounts in similar circumstances in future.
 
DOMINANT CROWN – When questioned regarding today’s performance, jockey D. Browne stated that the gelding  never travelled comfortably and despite his urgings was unable to make up ground in the home straight.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
Race 4: Pryde’s Easifeed QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1200m
 
The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes due to the barrier incident in Race 3 that caused a long delay.
 
CEDAR REPIDS – Change of tactics. To be ridden back from the wide barrier.  The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
SORNJA – Jockeyk L. Dittman replaced the injured J. Bryne.
 
SYD – Slow to begin.
 
FOXARELLI – Slow to begin.
 
CHIEF JOSEPH – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1100m.
 
ATTILA – Jockey G. Colless reported that he could offer no excuse for the poor performance of the horse.
 
Race 5:  Glovers Concreting Pty Ltd Ratings Band 0-65 H'cap – 2200m
 
BIGMORDRIVE - The start of this race was delayed when the horse cast a plate during its preliminary.  The horse was subsequently replated by the club’s farrier behind the barrier gates.
 
ELLUSIVE ELEMENT – Apprentice A. Fancourt replaced the injured J. Byrne when no senior rider was available.
 
 
Race 6:  Pelican Motors Service Centre Class3 H'cap - 1000m
 
LIVE FAST – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
JILL’S CHARM – Also raced wide and was forced wider rounding the home turn.
 
ORADONNA – A post race veterinary examination  revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  Trainer L. Gough was advised that he would be required to provide a full veterinary clearance  for the horse, including the results of an ECG prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 7: Sommer’s Fuel Supplies Class 2 H'cap - 1400m
 
DUKE DE VEGA – Lost its tongue-tie shortly after the start.  Obliged to shift wider to avoid heels near the 800m.
 
FIRST STIMUUS – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.  Overraced when the pace steadied passing the 800m.
 
HIDDEN GOLD – Slow to begin.   Overraced when the pace steadied passing the 800m.
 
HUNDRED – Slow to begin.
 
FINAL ZERO – Had to be restrained from the heels of ROTHABYE  when the pace steadied near the 800m.  When questioned regarding the performance, rider J. Orman reported it was his intention to settled handy on the filly however after ROTHABYE surrendered the lead approaching the 900m, his filly then settled further back than he had intended and overraced with the slow pace.  He added when he placed pressure on the filly she failed to respond.
 
Race 8:  South East Civil Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
 
VERSCENT – Declare a late scratching at 4.18 pm after being injured in its float en route to the track.
 
SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice T. Brooker stated that the filly settled towards the rear of the field and made steady ground under pressure in the home straight on the inside, which, in her opinion, was the worst section of the track. She added that her mount would take a fitness benefit from today’s race and will appreciate stepping up in distance in future starts.
