BAT A KAT – The start was delayed when the gelding underwent a veterinary examination  when mucus was observed in the off-side nostril. The horse was subsequently cleared to start. Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale in the early stages he was obliged to pressure his mount to hold a position and the horse raced greenly, and after having obtained the lead in the home straight was somewhat reluctant to finish the race off and advised stewards he indicated to connections the horse would perhaps benefit from the addition of winkers to its gear.

BOUNTY HUNTER – Jumped away awkwardly and raced greenly throughout.

LOVESON – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground, then raced 3 wide without cover.

Race 2: Our Red & Yellow Heroes Class 3 Plate – 1600m

AWAKE THE STARS – Stewards asked jockey J. Lloyd to comment on the performance of the horse.  He indicated he quite disappointed in the overall performance as the mare had enjoyed a favourable run throughout the event, however when asked to quicken after passing the 600m failed to respond and was very disappointing in the home straight.

SONADOR FIRE – Lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 3: Gswitch Maiden H’cap – 1600m

VIVI GRANDA – Slow to begin.

Race 4: Mullins I.T. Maiden Plate – 1200m

TALAPUS – At the request of trainer S. Kendrick, the horse was examined pre-race by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 500m. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.

HANCOCK – Slow to begin.

SHE’S A MITZY – Laid in under pressure  from the 400m onwards, causing its rider to be unable to fully test that mare.

BLUE PYRAMID – Raced 3 wide without cover.

POLE VAULTER – Raced  wide  throughout.

Race 5: Dicky Beach Surf Club Class 4 H’cap – 1000m

CODE ONE – Slow to begin.  Was placed in restricted room passing the 800m and had to be steadied.

PRIORTISE - Was placed in restricted room passing the 800m and had to be steadied. Stewards questioned  jockey A. Allen regarding the tactics and overall performance of the gelding. Stewards specifically questioned the positioning of the horse in the early stages as they  had expected the horse would settle closer to the lead, however after beginning  awkwardly  he elected to shift in across the heels of SKANDA  in order to secure a position closer to the fence. He added that after being slightly tightened for room by another runner approaching the 800m, the horse commenced to lay in and when attempting to steady and to shift out across the heels of SKANDA  near the 500m, the horse commenced to hang further and this caused the horse to be held up rounding the home turn.   He agreed with stewards that shifting wider approaching the turn would have been beneficial, however his mount was  laying in and he was unable to perform this manoeuvre when entering the home turn.  He added that a run presented itself when  leaving the 300m and he elected to push for that run, also adding that the horse laid in under pressure in the home straight, which had an effect on the pressure he was able to place on his mount.  After viewing the footage stewards accepted his explanation.

Race 6: Pelican Motors Class 1 H’cap – 1000m

TAKES TIME – The start was delayed when the horse became fractious in the barriers and got its near hind leg up on the barrier partition.  Laid in from the 800m, particularly in the home straight, causing its rider to be unable to fully test the gelding.

LAST AMAGEDDON – Apprentice B. Northdurft  reported his mount raced very greenly in the home straight and laid in over the concluding stages. He added the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise shortly after straightening and again passing the winning post.  A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed a suspected palate displacement.  Trainer L. Hatch was advised that the horse must undergo an endoscopic examination prior to its next race start, the results of which to be forwarded to stewards.

MANKINI LOVE – Slow to begin.

JEWEL DU ROUGE – Jockey S. Doyle reported that his mount bled from the near-side nostril.  After reviewing footage of the race and following a veterinary examination it was established the presence of blood was as a result of external trauma having been fractious in the barriers and the horse also sustained bruising to its lip, an abrasion on the chest and a  laceration to the near side stifle.

LIMESTONE COWBOY – Jockey D. Browne reported  he was obliged to pressure his mount to hold a position in the early stages and,  in his opinion, the horse would be better suited  at this stage of its preparation to races over longer distances.

Race 7:  Griffiths Parry Lawyers Class 1 H’cap – 1400m

ROCKING MY WORLD – Slow to begin.

BIDZIIL – Overraced in the middle stages and had to be restrained from heels on 2 occasions approaching the 800m.

TANGO YANKEE – Raced 3 wide without cover.

Race 8:  Swim Between The Flags Class 2 H’cap – 1200m

Correct weight was delayed whilst jockey J. Lloyd, the rider of the 2nd placegetter, ESSAKA, viewed the video footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge a an objection  against  BRIALKA LODGE being declared the winner.  After viewing the film, he declined to lodge an objection.

ESSAKA – Passing the 400m shifted out under pressure and continued to do so for the remainder of the event, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.

BRIALKA LODGE – After being forced wider passing the 400m was then inconvenienced near the 300m when bumped by another runner and was forced wider again over the concluding stages.

APPLE JACK – Bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will now incur a lifetime bar from racing.
