Race 1: Jack Duncan Racing Maiden Plate – 1800m
 
SAN BERNARDINO – Trainer K. Deacon was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Rider M. Wishart reported the horse was awkward in its action post race. Was inspected by the veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported.
 
SPURIOUS:  Required farrier attention to replace the near fore plate prior to entering the enclosure.  The horse was inspected by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers at the request of the rider and  was found to be lame in the near foreleg and was declared a late scratching, with the following deductions applicable.
 
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
13 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
13 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to the horse’s next race start.
 
TRUST ISSUES – Slow to begin.
 
OUR RED JET – Hung out for a short distance passing the 1500m and became awkward, racing  with its head in the air.
 
BIG VEGA – Raced wide until the 600m before weakening and finishing a distant last.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R. Davidson indicated the horse would now be  retired from racing.
THE SEVEN FALLS:  Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
LADY JEUNE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
TORRIENTE – Jockey R. Wiggins reported at no stage did his mount travel comfortably throughout the event and was disappointing in the run to the line.
 
 
Race 2:  Esprit Racing Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
ALL STYLE:  Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 6.07 pm.  Connections had been required to provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse prior to racing and had failed to do so. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.
 
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
8 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
Nil  cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
MOSSFAIR – Slow to begin.
 
DAM LOVABLE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
HARALDIGO –  A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer R. Davidson was advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused from TAB venues until its form improves.
 
 
Race 3:  Kendrick Racing QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1200m
 
ENDLESS MYSTERY – Lost its off hind plate  en route to the barriers, causing a delay to the start when the farrier was attempting to reattach the plate.  This attempt was unsuccessful due to the horse being fractious and permission was given for the horse to race without its off hind plate. Raced greenly throughout the event, having to be steadied from heels on a number of occasions.  Trainer S. Barr was advised that a warning would be place on the horse’s pre-race manners and racing manners.
 
HOWITZER – Shifted in and away from another runner shortly after the start, making contact with the inside running rail. Obliged to steady when placed in restricted room near the 900m. Disappointed when attempting  a tight run near the 200m and had to be steadied, and then continued to have some difficulty securing clear running for the remainder of the event. 
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Fractious in the enclosure prior to the start, and overraced in the early stages and as a result shifted in and away from heels near the 900m.  Trainer P. Duff was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
 
ADELASE – Overraced at heels due to the slow pace in the early stages.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Trainer M. Boland was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, and was also questioned regarding the tactics in leading in tonight’s event which was in contrast to the horse’s racing pattern.  He stated he had instructed jockey  Griffin to ride in a forward position, however anticipated obtaining cover from runners to the outside. He was surprised to see the horse settle in the lead.  In relation to this evening’s performance he indicated the horse had impressed him since joining his stable this preparation. He added that he was pleased with the horse’s first start for him at Gatton on 17 February.
 
 
Race 4:  Trevor Miller Racing Benchmark 70 H’cap – 1200m
 
ENTERPRISE JACK – Slow to begin.
 
AMICITIA –  Raced awkwardly rounding the home turn.
 
MIDNIGHT MATINEE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
SAY I CEE YOU – A post race veterinary examination found the horse to be suffering from heat stress.
 
 
Race 5:  Vandyke Racing QTIS 3yo Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1400m
 
GOLLY HUTT – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped BETTER THAN GROOVY. 
 
ZAMZARA – Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn.  Was steadied  from heels near the 300m and had difficulty securing clear running until the final 100m.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Bumped on jumping away. Improved onto heels near the 1100m and had to be checked.  Checked from heels  of the weakening MONIQUITA near the 350m.
 
SPIRITUAL ROSE – Overraced in the early stages. Held up for clear running from the home turn until the 250m.
 
MONIQUITA – Commenced to weaken badly from the 450m.  A post race veterinary examination found the horse had bled from both nostrils.  Connections were advised the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
 
MISHANI ROMANCE – Checked from heels of the weakening MONIQUITA near the 400m.
 
LET’S CONQUER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6:  Garnett Taylor Racing Class 1 H’cap – 1300m
 
The start of this race was delayed when LA JUMENT proved difficult to load.
 
UNO TOPS – Slow to begin.
 
BUZZER BEATER – Jumped away awkwardly and was then tightened for room between runners. In this incident the saddle on the horse slipped back.
 
WISHFILLY  – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped BUZZER SAVVA and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event..
 
WOWSERS – Raced wide without cover.
 
BOLD EXPECTATIONS – Raced wide throughout,  near the 700m improved onto heels, was steadied and shifted wider for a short distance.
 
STEPPED IN PAINT – Restrained near the 900m and got its head in the air and hung out for a short distance.
 
RAMBLIN’ MAN – Jockey S. Lacy returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight. Stewards issued a reprimand to jockey Lacy. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account that this was the first occasion that jockey Lacy had offended under this rule.
 

Race 7:  Sunshine Coast Flooring XTRA Class 3 H’cap - 1000m
