Race 1:  The Compass Institute Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
STAR BARISTA – Began awkwardly before mustering speed and occupied a forward position.
 
ISABELLA SMILES – Began awkwardly.
 
CAUGHT IN A DREAM – Slow into stride. Inclined to overrace in the early stages.
 
FROM NOW – Began awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing its rider. Steadied from heels near the 700m. Approaching the 300m, when attempting to  obtain clear running, shifted wider and made heavy contact with ZEDAQUA.
 
BE BRYAN – Slow into stride.
 
ZEDAQUA – Heavily bumped near the 300m. Raced 3 wide and very greenly throughout.
 
ZAHBAY – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WILCARUISE – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Race 2:  Kendrick Racing Class 1 H’cap – 1000m
 
METALLURGIST – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CLEAR THE BILL – Steadied near the 700m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PHIONAIX. Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
DAVIDBOOM -  Passing the 800m commenced to overrace and checked from heels near the 700m.
 
MISS DAIQUIRI –  Steadied near the 800m when placed in restricted room by PHIONAIX, which shifted in.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Raced 4 wide without cover and was inclined to hang out.
 
PHIONAIX – Raced wide without cover.
 
GREY COURT – Raced wide.
 
PAINTED WOLF – When asked to comment regarding the gelding’s performance, apprentice B. Nothdurft stated that at no point did the gelding travel comfortably.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the resumption of racing.
 
 
Race 3: Coast 2 Coast Earthmoving Class 1 H’cap – 1000m
 
ALLOFIT – Slow into stride.
 
MASSABIELLE – Slow into stride.
 
EFFORT – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the home turn to the 300m.
 
MORION – Blundered on jumping before mustering speed and raced 3 wide throughout.
 
READY TO ROAM – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 250m.
 
ANCIENT AZTEC – Held up approaching the home turn and steadied when disappointed for a run near the 250m.
 
BELLE’S PLUCK – Held up to a point near the 300m and became unbalanced when attempting to obtain clear running. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
EEYORE – Raced 4 wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have been galloped on and sustained lacerations to its near hindleg.  
 
RICHETTI – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
SANDY TOWN – Raced 4 wide with cover.
 
RAPID ACE -  A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg.  Connections were advised that  a veterinary clearance  would be required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
 
Race 4: Travis Schultz Law Open H’cap – 1000m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to review the placing for 4th.  Once satisfied correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
 
BOLD ASSASSIN – Slow to begin.
 
WONDER BOOM – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOLD XAVVI – Raced wide throughout.
 
CONNOISSEUR – Stable representative  reported to stewards that it appeared that the gelding had bled from one nostril.  Acting on that advice stewards advised the trainer’s representative that the gelding would be required to perform a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward prior to its return to racing.
 
 
Race 5:  Sea Vista Developments QTIS 3yo Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1000m
 
TWERK – Began awkwardly.
 
THE CARPENTER – Began awkwardly.
 
NO BETTER MOMENT – Began awkwardly. Hung in noticeably in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed a prominent respiratory noise and swelling over its near-side neck muscle. Connections were advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance and barrier trial prior to racing.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Overraced near the 700m and continued to do so and was steadied near the 550m.
 
COURSESHEWILL – Raced wide.
 
BETTER THAN MAGIC – Raced wide.
 
Race  6: Pablo’s Tex-Mex Caloundra Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1200m
 
YU LONG SHENG – Slow into stride. Approaching the 600m when the pace steadied, was obliged to steady from heels.
 
VILLENEUVE LADY – Bumped shortly after the start and raced wide throughout.
 
CATMOSPHERE – Checked near the 850m, and approaching the 600m when the pace eased, was restrained from heels.
 
ENTERPRISE MOSS – Approaching the 600m when the pace steadied was obliged to steady from heels.
 
ZILITOR – Stewards inquired into the reasons for ZILITOR having to be checked after passing the 900m.  After taking evidence from the riders involved, stewards found apprentice B. Nothdurft, rider of MISS TOO FLY, guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that after passing the 1000m he allowed his mount to shift in, tightening the running of SPLENDARAMA, which was taken in on to ZILITOR, which resulted in ZILITOR being taken in on to the hind quarters of PENASQUITO, which caused  ZILITOR to be checked after passing the 900m and lose its rightful running.  Apprentice Nothdurft’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 13 days, to commence at midnight, 25 April, and to conclude midnight, 8 May.
 
SPLENDARAMA – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
ROGUE DRUMNMER – Had difficulty  securing clear running near the 200m.
 
MISS TOO FLY – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHADYVALE STAR – Raced wide.
 
Race 7:  Love & Partners Chartered Accountants Benchmark 68 H’cap – 1200m
 
COASTAL BOY – Kicked out in the barriers and sustained lacerations to the near-hind leg.  Underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 8.16 pm on veterinary advice.  Subsequent to the event all monies invest on the horse were ordered to be refunded.
 
DUCHESS DASHALOT – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. Jockey L. Tilley reported on jumping he injured his left foot. Was examined by the course doctor and cleared of any serious injury.
 
SHAMURT – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
CANAPES – Began awkwardly. Shifted in and was bumped heavily and became unbalanced.
 
TRAIL OF GLORY – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: Contract Hydraulics Pty Ltd Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 1400m
 
ODDFELLOW -  Took charge of its rider en route to the barriers.  Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and acting on veterinary advice the gelding was declared a late scratching at 8.44 pm.
 
GOTHIC ROMANCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MISS LIBERTAS – Slow into stride. Jockey S. Lacy reported that, in her opinion, the mare resented the tongue-tie and recommended to trainer J. Johnston that the tongue-tie be removed for future engagements.
 
ROCK TOUR – Became awkward in its action when restrained near the 1200m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 250m.
 
ZAMZARA – Inclined to lay out from the 600m. Cast the near fore plate in running.
 
OCSARS LOT – Raced wide. Inconvenienced near the 350m. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
COACH – Near the 350m when under hard riding shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider. Bumped near the 100m when PARIS CRYSTAL  laid in.  
 
PARIS CRYSTAL – Raced wide with cover. Hung in under hard riding near the 350m, tightening OSCARS LOT, and again hung in near the 100m, tightening COACH.  Jockey V. Venkaya, rider of PARIS CRYSTAL, was reprimanded under AR131(a) in that he was careless, and in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.
 
Race 9: Grambower Concrete Constructions Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1600m
 
HOWITZER – Slow into stride before mustering speed. Passing the 1300m commenced to overrace and was steadied from heels.
 
SPIRITUAL ROSE – Slow into stride.
 
WARSET – Held up on the home turn.
 
VENI VIDI VICI – Raced wide throughout.
 
CERTAIN DOUBT – Stewards questioned trainer J. Walk regarding the tactics adopted.  Mr Walk stated that CERTAIN DOUBT  performs best when ridden forward, however he did not expect the gelding to lead by such a large margin.  Apprentice M. Kennedy stated that CERTAIN DOUBT overraced in the early stages and when unable to restrain her mount she then elected to allow the horse to stride during the middle stages.
