GENERAL
 
Jockey L Cassidy was unable to ride at todays program due to injury. Apprentice Jockey K Wilson-Taylor was indisposed and unable to ride at today’s meeting.  Rider changes are recorded in the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1: PAST ROOS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
BEANHUGGED - Travelled wide throughout.
 
MISHANI BLING – Slow to begin.
 
PAPERCLIP – Shifted out at the start.
 
SEEYALATERGATOR - Hung out from the 800m and made the home turn extremely wide. Trainer B. Jones was advised by the horse would have to compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality.
 
VAST KAMA - Began awkwardly, held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
CHARM BRACELET - Travelled wide throughout.
 
CURVETTA – Trainer advised would be ridden forward from the inside barrier. The filly was ridden accordingly.
 
ELOQUENTLY - Travelled wide throughout. Laid out in the early stages of the event, which resulted in BEANHUGGED being carried wide. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MARTINA – Slow to begin.
 
SILENT WEEKEND - Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: F45 MOOLOOLABA/MAROOCHYDORE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
The start was delayed when BOOM FIRE had to be resaddled upon arrival at the barriers.
 
BLUINDI – Slow to begin. Rider reported that his saddle slipped at the start placing him at a disadvantage. Was unable to be restrained passing the 800m and as a result improved to the inside of BOOM FIRE.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL - Travelled wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPILLENIA - Travelled wide for the majority of the event. Had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between KEEN AS A BEAN and ROUGH CUT JEWEL over the final stages.
 
BEEN A WHILE – Tightened for room passing the 800m.
 
BOOM FIRE – Shifted in passing the 800m and tightened BLUINDINI which had improved to that runner’s inside despite the efforts its rider. Raced three wide throughout.
 
HOME OF GOOLAGONG - Tightened at the start.
 
KEEN AS A BEAN - Held up in the early stages of the home straight and near the 300m shifted out and bumped with SPILLENIA on a number of occasions.
 
MY GIRL SKY - Jumped awkwardly, shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with HARD EIGHT. Approaching the 800m raced ungenerously and had to be checked when tightened for room. Following this continued to race ungenerously for some distance.
 
RED DRESS - Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: THE PIZZA SHOP BLI BLI Class 5 Handicap 1400 metres
 
MOOD (NZ) - Was bumped by MISCHEVIOUS LAD at the start. Approaching the 1200m was inconvenienced when its rider surrendered the lead to BELLICOSE.
 
MISCHIEVOUS LAD - Began awkwardly and shifted in and contacted MOOD.
 
EIRA (NZ) - Had to be checked at the start and was tightened for room when MOOD which was taken inwards.
 
MR SO AND SO - Declared a late scratching at 12.50pm by order of Stewards due to the horse not arriving at the course by the required time. Trainer C. Anderson was advised a fine of $ 400 would be imposed under AR 227 (a). 
 
 
Race 4: ROWE PLUMBING QLD Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
SPIRIT ESPRIT - Slow to begin.
 
BROKEN HERO – Over-raced when leading throughout.
 
FROM NOW (NZ) – Was fractious entering the track and contacted the gate. A pre-race veterinary examination was carried out when the horse arrived at the barriers and it was passed fit to race.
 
Following this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 5: ALEX SURF CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
KRAMERIC -Travelled wide throughout.
 
UBER JET – Trainer T Hurley reported that the gelding bled from both nostrils during the event. Mr Hurley was advised that UBER JET would incur the mandatory three month ban from racing under the provisions of AR 79(4).
 
LOUD NOISE - Travelled wide, bumped by ALLEZ ZOU when passing the 250m.
 
AWARD KNIGHT - Slow to begin
 
SQUIRREL HUNTER - Hung out leaving the 900m.
 
ALLEZ ZOU – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight until near the 250m shifted out to improve and bumped LOUD NOISE.
 
KEEPMOVING FORWARD –Travelled wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: KINGSLEY ST. CLAIR MEMORIAL Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
WEWANDA - Rider Ben Thompson advised that the mare had hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination conducted did not reveal any abnormalities.
 
MISS MANILOW - Slow to begin
 
UZERLI – Over-raced badly in the early and middle stages.

KURU LASS - Slow to begin, had to be steadied off heels near the 500m.
 
TINY TIARA - Slow to begin, commenced to over-race from the 600m and soon afterwards had be steadied off the heels of STILL REIGNING which shifted in when not quite clear. R Maloney, the rider of STILL REIGNING, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Rider had his whip dislodged by another runner when leaving the 250m.
 
SASANQUAS- Travelled wide throughout.
 
STILL REIGNING -Rider R Maloney was fined $300 under the provisions of AR 211 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
 
 
 
Race 7: IN CURTAINS Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres
 
TOP ORDER - Slow to begin.
 
RECALL EVENTS - Travelled wide during the early stages and as a result was allowed to stride forward to gain a position outside the leader near the 1100m.
 
 
 
Race 8: NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT GEOFF DRUMMOND MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate 1000 metres
 
PURE PULSE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Shifted in approaching the 700m.
 
CENTREFIRE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
DOTTI DEAR – Checked at start when GO DEEP shifted out abruptly. Laid out in the home straight.
 
TAHLAYLA – Raced wide with cover and approaching the 700m had to be eased from the heels of PURE PULSE which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice J Lloyd was advised to provide his fellow riders greater clearance in similar circumstances.
 
The start of the race was delayed due to SHES A MITZY requiring a near fore shoe replaced.
 
Race 9: CREATIVE STONE Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
SOJOURNIST – Hampered at start when shifted out BOLD INSPIRATION shifted out.
 
MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Carried wider near 200m.
 
UNCOMPLICATED - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BELROCOS BABE -Bumped by ARQUERA near the 250m.
 
ARQUERA – Shifted out to improve near the 250m and bumped BELROCOS BABE.
 
THREE PHASE – Over-raced in the middle stages. Put in a number of awkward strides approaching and passing the 500m.
 
BOLD INSPIRATION – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out and bumped SOJOURNIST.
