SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Sunshine Coast Friday 18 February 2022 – Race 5
Co-Trainer M Hoysted reported that on return to the stable, FINNICKY underwent an endoscopic examination which was found to have blood present in the trachea and was sore in the hindquarters. Trainer M Hoysted was advised that FINNICKY would be required to trial prior to accepting for a future start. M Hoysted advised FINNICKY would now be spelled.
 
GENERAL
Due to Apprentices L Kilner and M Wishart both being indisposed stewards permitted replacements as per the stewards raceday summary. As there was no available apprentice in race 8, stewards permitted Jockey B Thornton to replace Apprentice M Wishart. As R Maloney was unable to make the weight in races 4 and 7, replacements were made as per the stewards raceday summary. Jockey M Maloney was fined $400 under the provision of AR190(3).
 
The following jockey overweights were approved;
Race 4.         R Maloney +.05kg

Race 7.         J Orman +0.5kg
 
Race 1: TAB STRADBROKE SEASON QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
Whistling Spirit – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. When questioned in regards to the poor performance, Jockey B Thornton stated that he could offer no explanation for today’s performance but was of the opinion that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer R. Tyrell reported WHISTLING SPIRIT would now be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Spanish Angels – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting WILD BOTANICA. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
Wild Botanica – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Jukebox Glow – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
Wicked Chance – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: BRC GIRLS DAY OUT 12TH MARCH Class 3 Plate 1400 metres
 
Bold Pedro – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting CENTENARY STAR, who was carried out onto WILMOT PASS.
 
Golly Hutt – Slow to begin.
 
Wilmot Pass – Hampered on jumping away.
 
Palladas – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Bella Royale – Slowto begin.
 
Centenary Star – Contacted on jumping away.
 
Following the running of this event Jockey R Maloney was examined by the club Doctor and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
Race 3: SOUTHERN PACIFIC SANDS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 2200 metres
 
Haky (IRE) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and was allowed to stride forward and take up a leading position passing the 1600m.
 
Traduce (NZ) – Reared at the start.
 
Chocolatier (NZ) – Rider reported that his mount laid out throughout the event.
 
Nemingah (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides shortly after jumping away.
 
Takeittothelimit – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
Luvyouanytime – Passing the 1800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of PAINTED BLACK. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Painted Black – Rider R Stewart reported that the gelding failed to run out a strong 2200m. A post race veterinary examination, after weakening noticeably, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 4: GLOBAL TURF QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1600 metres
 
Military Gambler – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Mishani Untamed – Slow to begin.
 
Naughty Harry (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Underwent a post race veterinary examination, after weakening noticeably in the straight, failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer D Vandyke was advised that NAUGHTY HARRY (NZ) would be required to trial competitively prior to accepting for a future start.
 
Pentito – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of heat stress and a poor post race recovery.
 
Carneros – Hampered and carried in passing the 1500m. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Gambu (NZ) – Slow to begin. Passing the 1400m became awkwardly placed on heels after being carried in by CARNEROS.
 
Red Wave – Passing the 1500m was momentarily inconvenienced by NAUGHTY HARRY, which shifted out while overracing. Raced wide in the early and middle stages and was able to obtain cover passing the 800m.
 
Winter Violet – Slow to begin.
 
Claudius – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover from passing the 1400m.
 
Race 5: FULTON HOGAN Class 6 Handicap 1600 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed owing difficulty re-applying the tongue tie to JETTY behind the barriers.
 
Star Of Michelin – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was disappointed for a run between TEXAS STORM and SLOW HANDS and was obliged to shift in to attempt to improve after passing the 200m.
 
Slow Hands (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Tamilaide – Slow to begin.
 
Group Think – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination when the gelding lunged forward in the barriers contacting the front partitions and was cleared to start.
 
Deep Sceiva – Rider reported that it wasn’t his intention to lead in todays event however after beginning well, settled in the lead and was unchallenged.
 
Jetty – Reared as the start was effected and was extremely slow as a result. Trainer C Munce was advised that JETTY would be required to trial prior to accepting for a future race start. Trainer C Munce advised that JETTY will now be spelled.
 
Texas Storm – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 6: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Ef Troop – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ENTERPRISE KAREN which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey T Marshall, rider of ENTERPRISE KAREN,was reprimanded under the provision of AR131(a).
 
Dreamreacher – Slow into stride.
 
Full Nelson (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of heat stress.
 
Enterprise Keren – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of mild heat stress.
 
Murless (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 7: POLYTRACK QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
Rubiquitous – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.Lost off hind plate in running.
 
Mister Larrabee – Slow to begin.Passing the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of THE RATTLESNAKE, which laid in under pressure, and was obliged to shift out.
 
Zuma California – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Passing the 100m shifted in and away from RUBIQUITOUS.
 
Brentwood – Slow to begin.Steadied off heels passing the 500m.
 
Mishani Sniper – Became awkwardly placed on heels on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
The Rattlesnake – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Bad Education – Passing the 100m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ZUMA CALIFORNIA, which shifted in and away from RUBIQUITOUS despite the efforts of its rider.
 
 
Race 8: FIBRETRACK BENCHMARK 72 Handicap
1000 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed due to MISCHIEF MANAGED requiring farrier treatment.
 
Prairie Fire – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight to passing the 300m.
 
Frederick The Dane – Co-Trainer T Edmonds advised stewards that he would advise his rider to attempt to find cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Passing the 700m became awkward in its stride and blundered. Bumped passing the 100m.
 
Osamu – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight and when attempting to improve between FREDERICK THE DANE and MISCHIEF MANAGED was disappointed for clear running near the 200m and from that point on was awkwardly placed at the heels of MISCHIEF MANAGED and was unable to be fully tested.
 
Liza With A Zee – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Shamrock Lu – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Mischief Managed – Was required to undergo farrier work to replace the near fore plate behind the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
Spending My Time – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
 
Wander – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m by PRAIRIE FIRE, which shifted out to improve.
 
Air Spirit – Slow to begin.
 
Cossie – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Love My Super – Jumped away awkwardly contacting the outside barrier partition almost dislodging its rider.
 
Race 9: LEADERS IN EQUINE SURFACES One Metro Win Handicap 1200 metres
 
Racecourse Road – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
Pennino – Shifted in on jumping away contacting GOODONYA SONJA.
 
Bold Style – Passing the 1000m raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of EXPLOSIVE QUALITY. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Goodonya Sonja – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 300m became awkward on the heels of MISHANI FRAUDSTER, which laid out under pressure.
 
Rock Amore – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Bad Barista – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Mishani Fraudster – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting GOODONYA SONJA. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
