SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From GCTC 23rd April 2022 – Race 6 Benchmark 58 Hdcp: Trainer R Tyrell today advised Stewards DUNURDER LAD, which bled from both nostrils following the event, would now be retired from racing.
 
GENERAL
 
As Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor was ill, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the race day summary.
 
Trainer A. Williamson was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67 for failing to declare a rider for CRACKIN THUNDER engaged in Race 6 by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer D. Forster was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67 for failing to declare a rider for EELLOH engaged in Race 7 by the prescribed time.
 
 
Race 1: DICKY BEACH SAVES LIVES QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
Stewards inquired into the reasons for Luke Tarrant being dually engaged on both DASHING GEE GEE and OUR GALLANT DANCER. Following an explanation from trainer T Button Stewards noted his explanation but did remind him of his obligations regarding the correct process of engaging riders.
 
BIG ROCAS (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DASHING GEE GEE – After being loaded into the barriers kicked out behind contacting the back barrier partition, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Laid out abruptly shortly after the start.
 
MR ENCORE – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ROLL UP – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SIAN STAR – Crowded for room and had to be steadied near the 900m when taken in by FIRE KIN shifted in when not fully clear. M Murphy, rider of FIRE KIRIN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
BEZIQUE – Taken out at the start when DASHING GEE GEE shifted out abruptly.
 
CARESSING RUPERT – Near the 900m crowded for room and had to be steadied when SIAN STAR was taken in by FIRE KIN which shifted in when not fully clear.
 
MISHANI JEWEL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SURE SHOT ANNIE – Checked shortly after the start when DASHING GEE GEE shifted out abruptly. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
IT'S HELLS BELLS – Checked shortly after the start after being crowded for room and taken out and tightened onto the hindquarters of MISHANI JEWEL. Raced greenly in the early stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
OUR GALLANT DANCER – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room when DASHING GEE GEE shifted out abruptly. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
 
Race 2: DICKY BEACH NIPPERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
RAMOKA (NZ) – Checked at the start and lost ground when FRENCH ENUFF jumped in abruptly then a short distance later bumped with TANGO BAY and lost ground. Bumped at the 700m by ZATARA. Approaching the 250m laid out and became awkward on heels and had to be steadied.
 
EUREKA BOOM – Bumped at the start when MARTINI MOMENT jumped out.
 
OUTBACK PLAYBOY – Jumped out at the start.
 
MARTINI MOMENT – Began awkwardly and jumped out at the start. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SOOBPURB DANCER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TIKITIBOO – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider J Innes reported the horse did not appreciate todays track surface.
 
TANGO BAY – Jumped awkwardly and was then buffeted between EUREKA BOOM and RAMOKA and lost ground. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event and as a consequence near the 600m had to be steadied from heels and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
FRENCH ENUFF – Jumped in abruptly at the start.
 
MONT ROYAL – Bumped heavily at the start between OUTBACK PLAYBOY which jumped out, and PERFECT LEGACY which jumped in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEXUS LADY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PERFECT LEGACY – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ZATARA – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event and shifted in and bumped RAMOKA (NZ) at the 700m.
 
 
Race 3: SETPOINT REFRIGERATION Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Began awkwardly. M Butler, rider of A DEVIL’S CHANCE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.

MAGIC BOOM – Became awkwardly placed for a short distance when improving into a narrow run to the inside of BEAUTIFUL VISION near the 200m.

REALAIDE – When racing keenly near the 1200m had to be restrained from heels for a short distance.
 
VELOCIRAPTOR – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting symptoms of the thumps.
 
FEE – Bumped rounding the home turn when MDP shifted out to improve.

VANCITY – Began awkwardly and jumped out. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

CIRENCESTER – Change of tactics, to be ridden more conservatively if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. In the early stages of the home straight obliged to shift in to obtain clear running. Leaving the 250m disappointed for a run between BEAUTIFUL VISION, which shifted out slightly and VELOCIRAPTOR, which shifted in marginally.
 
 
Race 4: DICKY BEACH LIFESAVERS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres
 
CONISMO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages of the event and as a consequence near the 1300m shifted out after improving onto heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
SOCK'EMSID – Bumped on jumping. Over raced for a short distance near the 1100m.
 
KALPANA – Leaving the 200m obliged to shift outwards to avoid the heels of KIPLING’S JOURNEY. J Huxtable, rider of KIPLING’S JOURNEY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out under hard riding leaving the 200m resulting in M Du Plessis, rider of KALPANA, being obliged to take evasive action and direct KALPANA outwards to avoid the heels of KIPLING’S JOURNEY. The licence of J Huxtable to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 25th April up to and including midnight 2nd May 2022.  Rider J. Huxtable was advised of his right to internal review.   
 
DELANEY'S GIRL – Jumped out at the start and bumped SOCK’EM SID.

 
Race 5: WORKLOCKER Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
JOHNNY THUNDER - Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.

LATELY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
STAR CHANCE - Near the 1100m commenced to race ungenerously when being restrained by its rider and shifted in causing inside runners to be tightened for room.    

PRIME ASSET – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
PROJECT PAPERCLIP – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed blood in the mouth consistent with having dislodged a tooth during the race.
 
RIVERS LUCK – After being late to arrive on course underwent a veterinary examination on arrival and was cleared to start. A pre-race swab sample was taken from RIVERS LUCK. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. Rider C Robertson reported the horse resented the tongue tie and as a result raced ungenerously at various stages of the event.
 
D'ESPRIT – Jumped out at the start. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. M Powell, rider of D’ESPIRIT, which was placed fifth by the judge, pleaded guilty to a charge, and was fined $500 pursuant to AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his horse out to the end of the race which in the opinion of Stewards denied D’ESPRIT finishing in fourth position. Jockey M. Powell was advised of his right to internal review.

HARD OFFER – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
PRIDE AN' JOY – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rail.
 
ROSE OF DUPORTH – After being fractious in the barriers began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
IRON SAINT – Tightened for room and checked near the 1100m when AFROGINASOCK shifted in after being crowded for room by STAR CHANCE which was over-racing and racing ungenerously at that point.    
 
AFROGINASOCK – Crowded for room and bumped near the 1100m when STAR CHANCE. 
 
 
 
 
Race 6: MILFORD FARM SPELLING & PRE-TRAINING Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 

CRACKING THUNDER – After hearing submissions from trainer A Williamson, Stewards permitted apprentice J Molloy to ride the horse claiming only 2.5kg of his 3kg his allowance. J Molloy was fined $200 under AR143(14). From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Momentarily held up upon entrance to the home straight.
 
HARD REYVA – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Accidently struck on the head with whip by the rider of MY ODDETTE (NZ) at the 250m.

BLUE PACIFIC – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Rider M Philpot was dislodged from BLUE PACIFIC on pulling up and treated by QAS staff before being transported to hospital. M Philpot will require a medical clearance prior to her next race or trial ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off-hind pastern. Trainer D. Batters was advised BLUE PACIFIC must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
MY ODDETTE (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 200m and bumped SHALAA KING.

KIKI COCO – After sustaining abrasions to the nearside hip when being transported to the track underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.

BEST SONG – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Stewards questioned rider S Collett regarding her riding of the filly in the home straight. Rider Collett stated the filly raced greenly throughout and was then inclined to lay in and was reluctant to take a run to the outside SULTRY PRINCE in the early stages of the home straight. S Collett added when she applied the whip to BEST SONG passing the 100m the filly continued to race greenly which resulted in her having to stop applying the whip and straighten the filly. Stewards noted her explanation. 
 
SHALAA KING – Bumped by MY ODDETTE (NZ) leaving the 200m. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed a minor abrasion to the back of the near fore fetlock.
 
 
Race 7: BIDFOOD Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres
 

As a result of QAS staff attending to M Philpott, the start of this event was rescheduled to 3:57pm with Race 8 to start at 4:38pm and Race 9 at 5:10pm.
 
EELLOH – Raced three wide without cover throughout. When asked to comment rider S Collett stated instructions were to be positive out of the barriers and to race in a mid to forward position with cover, however after beginning well, and when attempting to comply with instructions, was caught wide without cover for the duration of the event which resulted in mare failing to run on over the concluding stages.
 
POLE VOLTER – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: DICKY BEACH SURF CLUB BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1800 metres
 
BADOOSH – Slow to begin.
 
ACCESSORY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ROYAL PERFORMANCE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
FAST TRAIN – Approaching the 1300m when over-racing was obliged to steady from the heels of EARN OUT. Raced three wide with cover throughout.

ELEUTHERA – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HEEYA – Slow to begin. M Du Plessis, rider of HEEYA, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) and AR 132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, of which 2 strikes were consecutive and it being 2 more than permitted.
 
STOCKED AND LOADED (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
EARN OUT – Commenced to over-race when being restrained to obtain a position near the 1300m. Over-raced in the early stages. At the entrance to the home straight shifted out and away from ELEUTHERA and was then bumped on the hindquarters by BADOOSH and became unbalanced.
 
 
Race 9: BEST PARMY ON THE COAST RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1300 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes due to LOVE MY SUPER breaking away from its handler in the saddling enclosure, resulting in the mare having to undergo a veterinary examination.
 
FASTLING – Raced wide throughout. Steadied from heels approaching the 200m when ESTER’S ROSE shifted in under pressure.
 
BELLICOSITY (NZ) – The tongue tie on the horse was refitted on arrival at the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
 
KELLERS SHELTER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRAZY EYED FRED – Jumped out at the start and bumped DIVENIRE. Hung out from the 800m inconveniencing a number of runners and was not able to be tested by its rider for the remainder of the event. Trainer R Kelly was advised CRAZY EYED FRED must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

LOVE MY SUPER – Upon hearing submissions from trainer J Holcombe, Stewards permitted apprentice J Molloy to ride the horse claiming only 1.5kg of his 2kg his allowance. J Molloy was fined $200 under AR143(14). After breaking away from the handler in the saddling enclosure, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
 
ME MUM’S FOXY – Bumped on jumping. Held up leaving the 300m until the 200m.

ESTER'S ROSE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
TINCO BELLE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DIVENIRE – Bumped at the start.
 
ROCK ON DESTINY – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Steadied from heels approaching the 100m when KELLERS SHELTER laid in under pressure.
 
HEAT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
HELSUN – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
ABOVE THE SKY – Inconvenienced and forced wider leaving the 800m when CRAZY EYED FRED commenced to hang out.
 
MISS BEAT – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide early and was then forced wider leaving the 800m when CRAZY EYED FRED commenced to hang out.
