SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Stewards today inquired into the analysts’ findings of a urine sample taken from licensed trackwork rider Paul Goode on the morning of 16/08/2022.
After taking evidence from Mr Goode, he pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR139(1)(a) in that he provided a sample of urine on the 16/8/22 which upon analysis was found to contain a prohibited substance, namely cannabis.
Mr Goodes’ license was subsequently suspended for a period of 6 months and 10 days, which represented the time served since being stood down on the 16/08/2022.
In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mr Goode’s guilty plea, his previous record under this rule and penalty precedence.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Licensed stable hand T. Findlay was reprimanded pursuant to AR124(3) for leading a horse without a bit in its mouth.
 
 
Race 1: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden
Handicap 1800 metres
 
DECARBONISE – Shifted wider to improve from the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
SILVER GODDESS – Tightened for room at the start, resulting in the filly settling further back in the field then the rider would have liked. Approaching the 1600m laid in across the heels of MISHANI SUPREME, clipped heels and blundered.
 
BETTER CLASS – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
MISHANI SUPREME – Tightened for room at the start. Rider L. Cassidy reported at scale that he would have liked to have settled further forward. Held up on rounding the home turn. Jockey L. Cassidy was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being 2 more than permitted.
 
LORD GOLD – A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding sustained minor abrasions to its near hindlimb.
 
SHE’S GOT SASS –Trainer C. Cousins advised of a change of tactics in that the filly will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Tightened for room at the start.
 
MISHANI CHOICE – Jockey K. Yoshida was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being 2 more than permitted.
 
BRAMBLE BAY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: AUSTACK SUNSHINE COAST QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden
Handicap 1000 metres
 
CAPITAL CEE – Steadied when placed in restricted room when approaching the 900m.
 
MASTERPLAN – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) – Jockey B Thompson reported at scale that his mount raced greenly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TWILIGHT STEPS – Awkward and lost ground at the start.
 
GIRLS IN PEARLS – Jockey J. Huxtable reported at returning to scale that the filly hung out for majority of the event.
 
HAYAI UMA –Steadied when placed in restricted room when approaching the 900m. After passing the 900m commenced to race very greenly for the remainder of the event. Trainer T. Hurley was advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of the filly. Trainer T. Hurley advised stewards after the event he will remove blinkers from the filly.
 
GYPSY WHITE SOCKS - Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
COMBAT MISSION – Raced wide throughout
 
Race 3: HEADLAND GLASS OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 

WINSIDE – Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 700m.
 
DESERT MAN – Began awkwardly.
 
EL SHADAY (NZ) – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer A. Cameron was advised that based on the geldings poor performance, EL SHADAY must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again. Mr Cameron advised stewards that it was his intention to retire the gelding.
 
 
 
Race 4: PELICAN MOTORS SERVICE CENTRE Class 3 Handicap
1600 metres
 
 
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER - Caught wide in early stages, was heavily restrained to a position at the tail of the field when passing the 1300m in order to obtain cover closer to the fence. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SEDUCTION QUEEN – Slow to begin.
 
UNO AMOR – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: THE BRANDING OFFICE Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
 
BLUE RAY – Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 100m.
 
STAR CHANCE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUPER SHARES – Raced ungenerously during the early stages until the 900m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor recovery. Trainer B Baldwin advised Stewards that in light of todays’ performance, SUPER SHARES will now be sent for a spell. Mr Baldwin was advised that the gelding will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
LET RIP – Raced wide throughout.
 
LOOSE UNIT – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly in the straight. Checked after the winning post when tightened for room to the inside of KALENDS, which was taken in by STAR CHANCE when the rider of that horse accidently dropped the near side rein. Stewards inquired into this incidence and elected to take no further action.
 
BROOKLYN MAM – Underwent farrier attention on arrival at the barriers and delayed the start. Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and was steadied before shifting wider on the track to obtain clear running.
 
ACADIAN FOREST – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that the filly will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
 
Race 6: RACE ZONE RACING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1000 metres
 
ADONISEA – Heavily bumped on jumping, tightened for room and lost ground.
 
CLAIRVUE STAR – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Apprentice Jones stated that the gelding hung out throughout the event, which placed her at a disadvantage in the home straight.
 
GO DEEP – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
RICH DEVIL – Began awkwardly, shifted in making heavy contact with ADONISEA.
 
BAD EDUCATION – Heavily bumped on jumping, tightened for room, lost ground.
 
RUINART – Jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with BAD EDUCATION.
 
 
Race 7: STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres
 
MOENAVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1000m.
 
CRISTALINO (NZ) – Rider reported his mount was slow to begin, this resulted in him being further back in the field then he would have liked. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
TAVI PIN (NZ) – Over raced when restraining to obtain cover in the early stages.
 
WIZARD OF VISP – When the pace slackened near the 800m, obliged to steady from heels and lost ground. Jockey T Harrison was questioned as to the performance of the gelding, she stated the slow tempo of the event did not suit the horse. As a result did not finish the race off strongly.
 
GAP YEAR – Over raced when restraining to obtain cover in the early stages.
 
WHERE YA BEAN – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward passing the 1200m.
 
BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
DAULAT MACHTIGAMOR – When the pace slackened near the 800m, obliged to steady from heels and lost ground.
 
MILES AHEAD (NZ) – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
BROOKHAVEN – Obliged to alter course to obtain clear running approaching the 200m.
 
DEALING’S DONE – Jockey N. Beriman was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) in that she used her whip on 15 times in totality which was deemed to be excessive.
 
ALTAR BOY – When the pace slackened near the 800m, over raced and was restrained from heels.
 
MENARI MAGIC – Raced wide throughout.
 
LOST MEDIA – Over raced in the early stages.
