GENERAL
 
As Jockey N Beriman was indisposed, she was replaced as per the Steward’s summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting-  
RACE 7 – SLEIGH QUEEN - R. Maloney - +0.5kg.
 
Race 1: 7 DAY SKIPS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
BOSSED UP – Began awkwardly. Had a tendency to lay out leaving the 600m.
 
ENCUBIERTO – Shifted out on jumping bumping READY TO PARDON. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 600m became momentarily awkward in its action and shifted in. Over the final 50m shifted out when racing green under pressure.
 
FEMME FATALE – Began awkwardly.
 
MY SPY – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start. Raced wide throughout
 
READY TO PARDON – Shifted in on jumping bumping ENCUBIERTO causing the rider to become unbalanced momentarily.
 
MOONLIGHT KICKS – Raced wide throughout.
 
TORQUE NOWOR NEVER – Apprentice M. Philpot advised at scale that in her opinion the filly may not have run out a strong 1000m.
 
Race 2: MALENY TRICORP HOTEL Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
FAST FUSION – Shifted out shortly after the start. Raced greenly in the home straight when placed under pressure. 
 
LOADED GUN – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight when placed under pressure.  
 
THORSBY – Raced wide throughout.
 
VIRGO VISION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 500m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
ZEPHALONG – Hampered at the start.
 
MAJESTIC FAME – Slow to begin.  Approaching the 800m, commenced to over race and a short distance later was inconvenienced and carried wider by ADALIE which shifted out after being crossed by LOADED GUN. Over raced for majority of the event. Approaching the 200m, laid in and was momentarily steadied from the heels of ADALIE, which shifted out marginally. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LADY IS AMPED – Leaving the 600m, improved to the inside of MAJESTIC FAME and had to be steadied when that runner shifted inwards before being corrected by its rider.
 
ADALIE – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels of LOADED GUN which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A Thompson the rider of LOADED GUN was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Race 3: WIDEWOOD TRANSPORT Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
ALPINE WIZARD – Approaching the 1200m, commenced to race keenly whilst being restrained. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CAREFUL MISSILE – Shifted out on jumping.
 
NASSAU COUNTY – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 350m, whilst weakening became awkwardly placed at the heels of DEEP CLEAN which shifted in under pressure.
 
DEEP CLEAN – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Shifted three-wide approaching the 800m and raced wide with cover from that point onwards. Laid in under pressure approaching the 300m and again leaving the 100m.
 
SMOOTH TORQUE – Slow to begin. Was held up for clear running approaching the 600m until a point leaving the 500m.
 
JESTER STATEMENT – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m improved onto heels and shifted wider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
QUEEN OF ADELAIDE – Approaching the 300m, became momentarily awkward at the heels of RIDGERS which shifted in under pressure.
 
RIDGERS (NZ) – Approaching the 350m improved onto the heels of the tiring NASSAU COUNTY and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
 
SIR JOHNY – Commenced to race keenly leaving the 1200m.
 
Race 4: PADDY WALSH PAINTING & SOLID PLASTERING Maiden
Handicap 1400 metres
 
EVERLAST – Hampered shortly after start. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. Stewards intend on inquiring into jockey J Huxtable’s whip use prior to the 100m.
 
HAPPISBURGH – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1100m shifted to a three-wide position with cover.
 
PUCCINI DREAM (NZ) – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier to take up a position closer to the rail.  
 
CAERUS (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
AGRO AGAIN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
NINE CARATS – Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m to the inside of EVERLAST. Jockey J Huxtable, the rider of EVERLAST was reminded of his obligations to allow sufficient racing room to runners on his inside.
 
REBEL LASS – Jockey M. Savva was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
SET BEAT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages. Leaving the 800m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Approaching the 500m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Apprentice M Castle was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Apprentice M Castle was also reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(c) for using her whip when out of contention.
 
WHEN DOVES FLY – Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 11:33am when the mare sustained a laceration to its off-hind leg on transportation to the track.
 
Race 5: MCGRATH BUDERIM & MOOLOOLABA QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Approaching the 250m, raced in restricted room and was then held up on heels until a point approaching the 100m.
 
CRADLE OF LIFE – Slow to begin.
 
I AM ARTIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
VALANTINO ROC (NZ) – Approaching the 200m was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.
 
UNDER THE CAP – Improved onto heels at the 200m point and was unable to secure clear running for the remainder of the event.
 
ROADTRIP – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 200m improved onto heels and had to be momentarily steadied.
 
BOLD HUSSAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after breaking loose from its handler in the saddling enclosure and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 200m, momentarily placed in restricted room between HOUSTON ROCKET and I AM ARTIE, both of which shifted ground marginally.
 
Race 6: TENSENS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1600 metres
 
TEE AMICI – Shortly after the start was brushed on the hind quarters by SET ABLAZE.
 
BRAVE BOY – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BAMBALAM – Shifted out at the start.
 
LOVEMETENDER – Hampered shortly after start.
 
REEL WILD (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Cast its off-hind plate in running.
 
ROUND OF APPLAUSE – Approaching the 450m, whilst weakening was placed in restricted room between KOWLOON GEM and SET ABLAZE. Jockey B Ainsworth was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TONI TOO (NZ) – Approaching the 500m, improved onto the heels and had to be steadied. Was obliged to check from the heels of ROUND OF APPLAUSE at the 450m when that runner was racing in restricted room whilst weakening. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
UNCONVENTIONALLADY – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of BAMBALAM which laid in. When asked to comment on the performance Jockey B. Thompson stated the mare travelled well until the 600m upon which it was under pressure and proved disappointing.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer N McCall was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate, inclusive with the results of an endoscopic examination prior to next racing.
 
IT MUST BE LOVE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin.
 
EARN OUT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide until the 800m. Jockey T Harrison was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
CONFINED THOUGHTS – Approaching the 1300m raced in restricted room to the inside of MURRAJONG ROAD.
 
Race 7: TOTALLY FASCINATING FASCINATORS Class 2 Handicap
1400 metres
 
INVINSIBLE TEARS – Began awkwardly. Over raced whilst being restrained in the early stages. Approaching the 800m, after being crossed by SEA PALLING, commenced to race keenly at heels and had to be steadied. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CONTRIBUTE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Trainer R Patterson was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting CONTRIBUTE to the mounting yard without a tongue tie which was part of its advertised gear.
 
RAMOKA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
VAN NUYS – Raced wide throughout. Over raced in the middle stages. Jockey L Cassidy reported the mare had a tendency to hang out for the majority the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-Trainer J Symons was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.

O’MISS BEHAVING – Began awkwardly.
 
OUR BELLE FILLE (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 100m, shifted in under pressure and was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
TORQUE LEICA STAR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout
 
STAR SEEKER – Began awkwardly.
 
TRAVOLI – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey J Huxtable the rider of the second placed KUBWA against KEETA (P Hamblin) being declared the winner, alleging interference at the 400m. Stewards after hearing the evidence from the relevant parties and after viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that approaching the 400m, KEETA shifted out when insufficiently clear of KUBWA, resulting in KUBWA losing ground after becoming unbalanced when having to be directed away from the heels of KEETA. Stewards when considering the margin between the two horses at the conclusion of the event were satisfied that had this interference not occurred KUBWA would have finished ahead of KEETA, and therefore upheld the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers:

KEETA – Over raced in the early stages. Jockey P Hamblin was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
BOWRIDER – Approaching the 200m, was inclined to lay in under pressure.

ASCOT EXPRESS (NZ) – Leaving the 600m, was steadied and shifted wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of KUBWA which shifted in.
 
CANNY BE BETTER – Leaving the 100m, was obliged to shift out and away from the heels of GREYLANDER which shifted in abruptly.
 
KUBWA – Approaching the 400m became unbalanced after being directed away from the heels of KEETA which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey P Hamblin the rider of KEETA was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
GREYLANDER – Shifted in abruptly under pressure leaving the 100m.
 
REGAL CONQUEROR – Trainer L Ross advised stewards that the gelding would be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnomalities.
 
WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT – Hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the 200m, obliged to shift in to secure clear running. Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
LITERMONT – Shifted in on jumping and bumped CLEARY ADONIS. Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced on entrance to the home straight.
 
FIRE LOVE – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced on entrance to the home straight.
 
SECRET NOTE – Improved onto heels approaching the home turn and had to be steadied.
 
ELESPRIT MISS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 350m, improved onto heels and was momentarily steadied.
 
PARISIAN LADY – Raced wide throughout.
 
MUWARRAD – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m, was momentarily steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of CANNY BE BETTER.
 
CLEARY ADONIS – Bumped at the start. Improved onto heels approaching the home turn and had to be steadied.
