SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
Apprentice B. Wheeler was reprimanded for his late arrival on course – AR128(1).
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 8. J. Stanley +1kg
 
 
Race 1: NORTHSIDE ROOFING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
QUADE – Raced wide throughout.
 
ENCUBIERTO – Began awkwardly. Forced wider from the 850m and raced wide from that point onwards.  
 
SPICY LEGEND – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to over race from the 1000m when the pace of the race slackened. This caused the colt’s saddle to slip forward placing jockey Cahill at a significant disadvantage. As a result, near the 850m jockey Cahill directed his mount out to avoid heels, making heavy contact with ENCUBIERTO forcing that runner wider on the track. Raced wide from the 850m onwards and resulting in jockey Cahill being unable to test his mount for the remainder of the event.
 
CHAMPONNET – Over raced during the early stages. Raced greenly whilst weakening in the home straight.
 
YEAH COPY – Over raced when the pace of the race slackened passing the 1000m and continued to be restrained from heels until leaving the 700m. Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn.
 
NOBLE INTENT – Over raced when the pace of the race slackened passing the 1000m and continued to be restrained from heels until leaving the 700m.
 
SHADOW CRUISER – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: PROFESSIONALS ON THE COAST REALTY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
OBEROI PRINCESS – After obtaining cover passing the 900m was obliged to check from heels when the pace of the race slackened.
 
PRETTY LITTLE LIAR – Slow to begin. Over raced for a short distance near the 1000m.
 
TORQUE ABOUT MAGIC – After being restrained from a wide barrier to obtain cover, over raced during the early stages. Continued to over race, checked from heels near the 600m and then was held up for clear running on rounding the home turn.
 
BALLROOM BLITZ – As apprentice M. Castle was not riding at today’s meeting, she was replaced by apprentice R. Simpson. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE UNDERGROUND – Began very awkwardly. Jockey J. Stanley reported at scale that after beginning very awkwardly, the filly travelled well but when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding from the 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer’s representative W. Birchley was advised that THE UNDERGROUND will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 3: CELEBRITY INK BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1000 Metres
 
MR VISTA – Raced wide throughout. 
 
BAIYKA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GLAMOUR AND GLORY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. 
 
TROPICS – Obliged to race in restricted room approaching and passing the 600m. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4: AUSTRALIAN ENERGY ANALYTICS CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 Metres
 
KEETA – Knuckled badly on jumping almost dislodging its rider. Jockey N. Thomas was then obliged reposition his near side iron shortly after the start. Over raced badly and checked from heels on a number of occasions passing the 800m. Lost the off fore plate in running. Trainer B. Mair was reprimanded under AR206(2) for failing to enact a gear change to place bar plates on the gelding prior to acceptances.
 
RAOUL – Severely hampered on jumping and lost ground. J. Orman reported on scale that he could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding except to state that RAOUL weakened badly in the straight and laid in under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps and mild heat stress.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Bumped on jumping.
 
SERGEANT HULKA – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOOMANI (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Jockey J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations and reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) to fully his test his mount over the concluding stages.
 
TRANQUIL BAY – As jockey M. Du Plessis was indisposed, he was replaced by B. Thompson.
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING PINK RIBBON RACEWEEK TROPHY FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
ROMANOVA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MARTINI MOMENT – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages and checked from heels near the 1000m.
 
EUROMANTIC – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted in settling at the tail of the field, apprentice T. Fenlon indicated that it had not been her intention to settle so far back, however after beginning awkwardly she elected to steady and take up a position towards the tail of the field.
 
ELESPRIT MISS – Rider M. Wishart reported that the mare hung out in the straight.
 
 
Race 6: BILLY J BOUTIQUE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
DEALING'S DONE – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the horse laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ) – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
DWINDLING SPIRIT – Began awkwardly.
 
HEARTONI – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
IT'S HELLS BELLS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
DARABAZ – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey A. Spinks reported that the gelding laid in under pressure in the home straight causing him to be unable to fully test his mount. Trainer P. Kimmet was advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of DARABAZ. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress.
 
GLENGARRY – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: COASTLINE BMW CLASS 1 PLATE 1600 Metres
 
ISOMETRIC (NZ) – Jockey J. Bayliss reported that it was not his intention to lead the event, however after beginning well he allowed the horse to stride forward and as no other runner challenged the lead, he was obliged to commit to the forward position.  
 
MOOLOOLABA (NZ) – Over-raced and steadied when tightened for room approaching the 1100m.
 
DESERT FLAME – After passing the 1200m, was obliged to steady from heels and lost ground.
 
EMPRESS EL (NZ) – Made contact with the outside fence on leaving the enclosure after dislodging apprentice B. Wheeler. EMPRESS EL underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Checked when tightened for room approaching the 1100m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
EVANESCENT – After passing the 1200m, was obliged to steady from heels and lost ground.
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Marshall – Slow to begin. Jockey K Wilson Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 1100m, he allowed his mount SIGNITA to shift in when insufficiently clear of EMPRESS EL, tightening that runner causing it to shift in tightening HALLSIDE MARTINI and causing both runners to be restrained and lose ground. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for twelve (12) days commencing midnight the 7th of October until midnight the 19th of October. Approaching the 900m, checked when tightened for room to the inside of SIGNITA, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
RED STAR RUBI – Thompson – Began awkwardly. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that he settled in a more forward position from the favourable barrier, however he was disappointed with the finishing effort when afforded clear running in the home straight. Jockey S Collett pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 1100m she directed WICKED’N’ LOVIN’IT to shift in to obtain a position trailing behind ISOMETRIC when there was insufficient room to do so, when insufficiently clear of MOOLOOLABA causing that horse to be taken in onto the rightful running of RED STAR RUBI, causing that horse to be checked. Jockey S Collett’s license to ride in races was suspended for ten (10) days commencing midnight the 17th of September until midnight the 27th of September.
 
SIGNITA (NZ) – KWT – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT – Collett - Raced wide in the early stages.
 
 
Race 8: COASTLINE MINI GARAGE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP        1400 Metres
 
NORTHERN PRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
SPEED MAP – Connections advised of a change of tactics, in that from the wide barrier will attempt to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly, settled midfield and raced wide with cover.
 
DARING DIEGO – After passing the 900m, commenced to over race when the pace of the race slackened. Near the 100m, when inclined to lay in and away from ECHO HUNTER, became awkward when struck in the region of the head by the whip of jockey J Lloyd (ECHO HUNTER) and lost ground as a result
 
LOOSE UNIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZEITAKUNA – Began awkwardly.
 
ECHO HUNTER – As jockey M. McGillivray was indisposed, he was replaced by J. Lloyd.
 
KABOOM – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start. After passing the 900m, commenced to over race when the pace of the race slackened.
 
LEAN IN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
PARISIAN LADY – Shifted out on jumping and bumped KABOOM. Held up for clear running momentarily rounding the home turn.
