SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 5. J. Orman +0.5kg
Race 5. M. Rodd +0.5kg

As jockeys R. Maloney, D. Boutet and apprentice C. Waddell were indisposed, replacements were made as per the Raceday Summary.

Race 1: COASTAL LUXE HOMES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1600 Metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey K. Wilson-Taylor, rider of third placed RASHFORD, against the winner ROCK YA, ridden by A. Thompson, alleging interference over the final 200m. After considering the evidence it was established that at a point near the 200m ROCK YA shifted in and initiated contact with RASHFORD. Furthermore, contact was again established when RASHFORD shifted out over the concluding stages. Stewards were not satisfied that the interference caused to RASHFORD when ROCK YA shifted in was sufficient to alter the placings given the margin between the two horses at the finish of the event and therefore dismissed the protest declaring correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

ROCK YA (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 600m until approaching the 400m. Jockey A. Thompson was fined $300 for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 6: NORTH COAST BOATING CLASS 1 PLATE         1000 Metres

The start of this race was delayed when FINAL SELECTION dislodged its rider when moving out of the enclosure onto the track and galloped riderless for a significant distance before being recaptured. FINAL SELECTION was declared a late scratching at 8.29pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on FINAL SELECTION be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st MALTALI 7c win, 11c place
2nd O’POLLY 11c place
Correct weight was also delayed to enable Stewards to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether EVERLASTING STARS was afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that the horse had gained a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

Trainer N. Hocking advised that at the horse’s most recent start he’d instructed the rider to ride in a forward position and after viewing the replays of previous starts, Stewards were satisfied that these instructions had attempted to be followed.
