DRAGSTAR – Began awkwardly.

FOR THE LADIES – Slow to begin.

MISS SATINE – Raced wide throughout the event.

COOPERS CREEK – Raced wide throughout the event.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons why FASTINATIO had to be checked and lost considerable ground near the 800m. After taking evidence from the riders and also viewing the patrol films, it was established that near the 800m FASTINATIO, when racing greenly shifted in making contact with ISIS COWBOY and then shifted out making heavy contact with the hind quarters of DRAGSTER, which as a result shifted in causing FASTINATIO to be placed in restricted room and having to be checked by its rider. Stewards could not be satisfied that anyone rider was at fault and therefore took no further action.

FASTINATIO – Checked and lost considerable ground near 800m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a ruptured Off Hind tendon, and was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.

Race 2: ERIC & VAL NOBBS MEMORIAL B’MARK 55 HCP 1200m

Stewards declared KHAANTANTES a late scratching at 12:55pm after receiving a confirmed phone call from trainer N. Mannion that the gelding was suffering from an elevated temperature. Trainer N. Mannion was advised the KHAANTANTES would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.

COUNTING HOUSE – Slow to begin.

KROSS REFERENCE – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 900m and shifted out making heavy contact with RE ECHO. Rider dropped whip near 300m.

RE ECHO – Heavy contact with another runner near 900m and forced wider on the track.

DANE CHEVAL – Raced wide throughout the event.

SON OF A WARRIOR – Checked near 800m. Apprentice N. Summers rider of PATENT PENDING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, being that near the 800m she made insufficient effort from preventing her mount from shifting in when not fully clear of SON OF A WARRIOR, resulting in SON OF A WARRIOR having to be checked. App N. Summers licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at midnight 17th September and to expire at midnight 24th September.

PATENT PENDING – Hung out rounding the turn near the 700m.

MOONLIGHT MAGIC – Weakened badly from the 400m and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer P. Pengelly was advised that the mare would have to compete satisfactorily in an official trial prior to racing again. Trainer P. Pengelly indicated it was his intentions to now retire the mare from racing.

Race 5: THINKWATER CALLIDE VALLEY THANGOOL CUP HCP 1600m

NEVZLIN – Raced 3 deep without cover for the majority of the event.
