Race 1: 106.3FM RUNNING ON AIR QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
1st – COMPULSIVE ROCKET 2nd – SHADOW MOUNTAIN 3rd – LA PRENSA 4th – SONIC BOOMER

EXPLOSIVE LAD – Slow to begin and then crowded shortly after.

SONIC BOOMER – Held up in the early part of the straight.

LA PRENSA – Laid out rounding the home turn and bumped with another runner.

PINK BARBIE – The start was delayed when the filly proved difficult to load and then was fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.

SHADOW MOUNTAIN – Raced wide throughout.

MISHANI ISTANA – When questioned regarding the filly’s poor performance, apprentice M. Haley said that his mount travelled comfortably throughout, however when placed under pressure in the straight it failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.


Race 2: EVERGREEN RACING SURFACES (ERS) MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
1st – TURKEY BEACH 2nd – CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD 3rd – MOUNTAIN LANE 4th – CONCERT IMAGE

COBUNGRA BOY – Slow to begin.

EIGHT FIGURES – Began awkwardly. Passing the 900m had to be checked when racing tight to the inside of another runner which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

MOLONGLE HERO – Raced four wide without cover throughout.

MOUNTAIN LANE – Crowded at the start.

Race 3: RSL TOWNSVILLE CUP CALCUTTA FRIDAY 25 SEPT CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100M
1st – GOLDEN METEOR 2nd – DAZZLUNA 3rd – CROTCHET 4th - RANGILA

TUNE UP WARRIOR – When M. Abe was to be overweight, Stewards permitted W.D'Avila to replace him as the rider of this runner. M. Abe was fined $100 under AR. 120(b).

CROTCHET – Slow to begin.

SHYCHENKA – Raced wide without cover throughout

GROOMED FOR GLORY – Held up in the early part of the straight.

GUEPARDO – When questioned regarding the gelding’s poor performance, apprentice D. Evans explained that the gelding travelled well in a prominent position, however shortly after straightening weakened and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R. Chillemi advised that the gelding will now undergo an endoscopic examination, the results of which he will forward to Stewards.

GOLDEN METEOR – When questioned regarding the gelding’s improved performance, the only explanation that trainer S. Royes could offer was that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the tight turning Cairns track at its most recent start.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD BM65 H'CAP – 1400M
1st – PACHAMAMA 2nd – CHARLIE’S MOMENT 3rd – RISE TO THE TOP 4th – HERE TO DASH

HERE TO DASH – Bumped shortly after the start.

SETTLERS WAY – Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Held up and did not obtain clear running until passing the 100m.

VEE FORCE – Raced wide throughout.

CRACOW – Awkwardly placed at heels in the early part of the straight and then had difficulty obtaining clear running.

STANDFORD – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Buffeted between runners shortly after straightening.

CASHED UP BULLY – Pulled hard in the middle stages.

Race 5: THE COFFEE CLUB CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1300M
1st – SPIRITED SAINT 2nd – NO IFS OR BUTS 3rd – DAMKY 4th - TOUGH COMPANY

BONNIE BON BON – After arriving at the barriers the horse underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 2.30 p.m. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BONNIE BON BON be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to SP bets:

2 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5

Trainer T. Rowe was advised that prior to the horse racing again he must furnish a veterinary clearance.

UNION JUKEBOX – Began awkwardly.

REMOS – Slow to begin.

WE FOUND IT – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

DASH OF BLACK – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

CLEVER ONE – Jockey N. Day reported that his mount never travelled comfortably at any stage and was disappointing.

Race 6: TOWNSVILLE WINDOWS & SCREENS BRACELET F&M CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1300M
1st – ZINDZELA 2nd – HOYWEDGE 3rd – SUNSET IN NEW YORK 4th – RADIANT ANGEL

ZINDZELA – As D. Evans was ill, Stewards permitted D. Hayse to replace him as the rider of this runner. Jockey Evans was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance before he resumes riding.

NEVETUS – Made contact with another runner at the start.

FIESTY BELLE– Began awkwardly.

SHE’S ALL OURS – Began awkwardly with its head up.

SHE BEE STINGING – Slow to begin.

HEART OF STRENGTH – Made contact with another runner at the start.

RADIANT ANGEL – When questioned regarding the mare leading today, apprentice M. Haley explained that he was under no specific instructions however from the widest barrier and after beginning well he rode his mount along in the early stages and was able to cross and lead on the fence where it travelled comfortably throughout.

Race 7: PAT MOLLOY JEWELLERS OPEN H'CAP – 1200M
1st – CRAIGLEA CRUZ 2nd – MORE THAN A SONG 3rd – HE’S A LADIES MAN 4th - SIZZELON

CLEAVER – Slow to begin.

HE’S A LADIES MAN – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

MORE THAN A SONG – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

WHITSUNDAY EXPRESS – Bumped by another runner over the concluding stages.

SIZZLELON – Shifted in despite the efforts of its rider over the concluding stages and bumped with another runner.

CYCLONE KAN – On returning to scale jockey T. Bannon reported that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit.

Race 8: TOWNSVILLE RSL MAGNETIC ISLAND MILE H'CAP – 1609M
1st – CASTLE EXPRESS 2nd – ALDREN 3rd – CHATEAU DETTORI 4th – BEG PARDON

CASTLE EXPRESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after rubbing its hip in the float and was passed fit to start.

BARAMUL BULLET – Slow to begin.

BLU AXIS – Raced wide throughout.

RHYTHM ‘N’ RAP – On return to scale jockey F. Edwards reported that after beginning awkwardly with its head up, his mount was reluctant to stretch out and never travelled comfortably at any stage. He said that in his opinion the gelding may have resented the tongue tie.
