CHOMARU – When questioned in relation to the tactics employed on the gelding, Jockey P. Race 5: NQ Consulting Structural Engineers Ratings Band 0-55 Plate - 1000 metres
1st – PUBLIC AFFAIR 2nd – RULISTIC 3rd – HEAD DRAGON 4th – WE FOUND IT

The declaration of correct weight was delayed while stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice N. Vuille, the rider of RULISTIC which finished 2nd, against PUBLIC AFFAIR being declared 1st, alleging interference shortly after straightening. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official video films and acting on their own observations, stewards found that shortly after straightening for home RULISTIC was disappointed for a run between PUBLIC AFFAIR (Jockey D. Simmons) and SPLASH OUT (Apprentice N. Summers), which shifted out marginally, however when Stewards could not soley attribute the incident to PUBLIC AFFAIR the protest was dismissed and the judge’s placings ordered to stand.

TOP DECISION – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

REMOS – At the start was checked and lost ground when crowded for room between runners.

For some distance passing the 600 metres TOP DECISION (Jockey K. Aho) hung in badly, despite the efforts of its rider, continually crowding the running of REMOS (Jockey P. Cullen), which had to be severely checked and lost ground. Trainer Mr A Harrison will be told that prior to racing again the gelding will have to perform satisfactorily in a trial.

SPLASH OUT – On straightening for home shifted out and inconvenienced another runner.

Stewards inquired into an incident that took place near the 700 metres, which resulted in severe interference to RAINING DOLLARS (Apprentice C. Jokic), which was checked severely, struck the running rail and lost significant ground. During the inquiry stewards took evidence from Jockey J. Felix (COLEY), Apprentice N. Summers (SPLASH OUT), Apprentice N. Vuille (RULISTIC), Apprentice M. Haley (SEARGENT SHRIVER) and Apprentice C. Jokic. It was established that COLEY and SPLASH OUT were racing to the outside of the other three runners coming into the turn, at which point RULISTIC shifted away from SPLASH OUT, despite the best efforts of its rider, and in doing so carried SEARGENT SHRIVER in onto RAINING DOLLARS.
