SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Townsvile 19th May 2016

Race 2, Michels Restaurant & Catering QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap

LA PRENSA - Jockey D. Simmons was reprimanded under A.R. 137A(5)(a)(i)) for using his whip on the filly in 3 consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.

Race 1: SKY Racing Maiden Handicap ¬- 1000 metres
1st – SINGLE HOPE 2nd – MONASHEE LASS 3rd – DELTA MAGIC 4th – SHADOW MOUNTAIN

ENDING REIGN – Threw its head up in the air at the start and lost ground. For some distance approaching the 200 metres raced in restricted room and could not be fully tested.

EILEEN ANNIE – Shifted out abruptly at the start and bumped another runner.

LITTLE RED ROCKET – Crowded for room between runners at the start. Rounding the turn near the 500 metres improved onto heels and had to be checked.

MONASHEE LASS – Approaching the 100 metres improved onto the heels of a weakening runner, was held up and had to be shifted out to obtain clear running.

ONYA MISS – Passing the 200 metres was momentarily inconvenienced, and then inside the final 100 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Passing the 100 metres Apprentice M. Murphy accidentally dropped his whip.

SHADOW MOUNTAIN – Bumped on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.

LIFE’S A PICNIC - When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Apprentice C. Jokic explained that her mount travelled comfortably in the lead throughout, however was under pressure shortly after straightening and weakened noticeably from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was displaying a poor recovery rate. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann undertook to report back in the days subsequent.

DELTA MAGIC – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 2: Ede Events BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st – CRAIGLEA FOCUS 2nd - ALAWA 3rd – ISTALENA 4th – KODO

CRAIGLEA FOCUS – Prior to the race stable representative Mr S. Johnston reported that the results of a blood test were all within normal parameters. Public announcements were made to that effect.

PURRFECT TYCOON – Began very awkwardly with its head up, resulting in its rider, Apprentice M. Murphy, becoming unbalanced in the saddle and losing considerable ground.

MY GIRL CHARLIE – Bumped shortly after the start.

WOLF CREEK – Shortly after the start shifted in and bumped another runner.

MOLONGLE DAWN – Rounding the turn near the 900 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied, then was inclined to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter.

ISTALENA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.

CARLINO’S WAY – When questioned Jockey P. Cullen attributed the below market expectations performance of the gelding to the fact that his mount was inclined to pull hard throughout the early and middle stages and consequently was left without a finishing effort.

Race 3: Weseal Pty Ltd QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – MUST BE OBEYED 2nd – OURBOYBYRON 3rd – HARVEST PRIDE 4th - MISHANI BELIEVER

MIM’S POET – Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $100 under A.R. 140A for weighing out without irons.

CRAIGLEA BARINA – Crowded for room at the start. Raced keenly throughout the early stages.

HARVEST PRIDE – Bumped by another runner at the start. Trainer Mr G. Hickmott reported that the gelding was galloped on in running.

MISHANI BELIEVER – When questioned regarding racing back in the field, Apprentice C. Jokic said that from the wide draw, and after being tardy at the start, she elected to take up a position at the tail of the field with cover, closer to the running rail, where the filly travelled comfortably throughout. She said that after being held up momentarily prior to straightening the filly finished the race off well.

WE JUST LOVE IT – Began awkwardly.

OURBOYBYRON – After being crossed by another runner in the early stages commenced to over-race.

MISHANI SHIRAZ – When questioned regarding the poor performance Jockey D. Simmons said that after slipping behind on jumping, his mount never travelled comfortably at any stage and was constantly under pressure and weakened noticeably in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. Manzelmann undertook to report back in the days subsequent to the event.

LATE CALL – Stable representative Mr G. Ashford said that, in light of the poor performance, the gelding will now be spelled.

MUST BE OBEYED – Was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

Race 4: Elegant Kitchens & Joinery Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – KENNYNOPAS 2nd – VAUNTING 3rd – GAINSFORD 4th – SONIC BOOMER


SYDNEY HARBOUR – A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was resuming from a lengthy spell cleared it to take its place in the field.

RAINING DOLLARS – Raced wide throughout. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

SONIC BOOMER – Had to be checked when crowded for room at the start. Raced wide throughout.

MORE GEORGE – Bumped at the start.

VAUNTING – Shifted in abruptly at the start and made contact with another runner.

CENTREHALF FORWARD – Slow to begin. Jockey S. Kaya was reprimanded for failing to weigh in.

ROUND THE CORNER – Raced 3 wide without cover. Hung in badly in the straight and could not be placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SYDNEY HARBOUR – Rounding the turn near the 900 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.

GAINSFORD – For some distance rounding the turn near the 500 metres was held up on heels and had to be continually steadied. Raced in restricted room in the early part of the straight.

ZIGGY’S SPIRIT – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

Race 5: A.L.B. Distributors “The One For The Fans” Class 3 Plate - 1000 metres
1st – VALLEY ROSE 2nd – GUTZ CI 3rd – SECRET HARMONY 4th – HOYWEDGE

CANNY AND THE JET – Was a late withdrawal, by order of the stewards, at 3.15 p.m after blood was found to present on the nearside neck of the gelding. Stewards ordered that all bets made on the gelding be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

7¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, VALLEY ROSE
9¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, VALLEY ROSE
9¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, GUTZ CI
9¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, SECRET HARMONY

After taking evidence from trainer Mr L. Wright, Mr J Campeao, and Veterinary Surgeon, Dr D. Viero, stewards adjourned the matter pending the result of the swabs.

NARSON’S DUKE – Began awkwardly and was crowded for room shortly afterwards.

VALLEY ROSE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HOYWEDGE – Shortly after straightening was disappointed for a run.

NO BITING – Over the final few strides shifted out and became awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner.

Race 6: Feed 2 Go Hygain QTIS 3-Y-O Plate – 1200 metres
1st – CRAIGLEA DEKEN 2nd – CRAIGLEA WANDOO 3rd – CASINO THOUGHTS - 4th RYLEE’S SAGA

ULTRA RED – Slow to begin. Shortly after straightening Jockey J. Felix lost the use of his nearside iron, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

SAGA’S PRINCESS – Buffeted between runners at the start.

ISLAND TANG – Knuckled on jumping. Passing the 100 metres shifted out under pressure and bumped with anther runner.

AHOTONE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

CRAIGLEA ALDI – Shortly after straightening shifted out abruptly under pressure and had to be checked when awkwardly placed on heels.

WICKED CRIME – Passing the 100 metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

Race 7: Jim Roberts Locksmiths BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1300 metres
1st – GUNDY STAR 2nd – AUGUSTE 3rd – CLEAVER 4th – ROCKNET

KING MAGNUSSON – Approaching the winning post attempted to savage another runner. As this was the 5th occurrence of this nature, Trainer Mr S. Massingham was told that, under the provisions of A.R. 50, any future nomination of KING MAGNUSSON will be refused, and the gelding is now barred from racing.

SECRET STEALTH – Slow to begin, and then was hampered shortly afterwards. In the early stages raced very ungenerously with its head up and refused to settle.

FIESTY BELLE – Began very awkwardly with is head up and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.

PRETTY VACANT – Raced wide without cover throughout.

LIGHTENUFF – Raced wide throughout.

ROCKNET – For some distance in the early part of the home straight was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

QUEEN CAESAR – Laid out rounding the home turn.
