GENERAL:
Due to technical errors, blinkers did not appear in the Race Book for a number of runners: Race 2 RAMSDEN STREET: Not a gear change. Race 4 SENORITA ROSITA: Visor is a gear change. Race 5: SUPERSTITION - Blinkers incorrectly shown in Race Book - Does not wear blinkers - not a gear change. RACE 7: ROCK SPUR - Not a gear change.
Race 1: www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Maiden Handicap - 1000 metres
BUCK'S ME BOY - Began awkwardly then shifted out and bumped another runner.
LEIGHWAY - After being slow to begin was bumped by another runner.
NEWMAN - Slow to begin.
NEGRONI - Began awkwardly, raced wide for the majority of the race. Approaching the 200m was forced wider by another runner.
MY FRIEND ROB - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
REDWISKA - Approaching the 200m shifted out to obtain clear running and inconvenienced another runner. Rider W. D'Avila was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
STONE PHILOSPHER - Rider M. Haley reported that the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the race. Lost its off hind plate during running. A veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near hind coronet.
Race 2: TSV Winter Racing Carnival 15-29 July BenchMark 65 Handicap - 2000 metres
RAMSDEN STREET - Began awkwardly. Over-raced for some distance being restrained from heels. Checked passing the winning post on the first occasion.
GAINSFORD - Over-raced for some distance throwing its head in the air and being restrained from heels for some distance and had to be checked passing the winning post on the first occasion. Shifted out to improve leaving the 900m and raced wide from that point onwards.
STANDFORD - Improved onto heels passing the winning post and was shifted wider, then raced wide for the majority of the race.
MAJOR MAJOR - When the pace was slowed approaching the winning post on the first occasion, improved onto heels and was severely checked, shifted wider to improve leaving the 1000m due to the lack of pace.
HARJAKA - Rider M. McGillvray was found guilty of a charge under A.R137(d) in that he excessively reduced the speed of his mount approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, resulting in ROBABANK (B. Thomson) improving onto that horse's heels and being checked and causing RAMSDEN STREET (J. Woodhouse),which was following,to improve onto the heels of ROBABANK and being checked. In the incident MAJOR MAJOR improved onto the heels of RAMSDEN STREET and was severely checked. Jockey McGillivray's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, to commence midnight 29th June 2017 and to expire on midnight 9th July 2017.
Race 3: TSV Winter Carnival On Sale Now QTIS 2-Years-Old Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
CRAIGLEA UNIT - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by connections for the late declaration of Jockey L. Attard as rider of the colt.
ROCKSTAR ROCKET - Began awkwardly, improved into a doubtful run near the 800m and was steadied.
OUR ATOM - Raced greenly for the majority of the race. Improved onto heels and had to restrained near the 500m.
BOLD SAM - Began awkwardly.
LOVE ME RUBY - Slow to begin.
CRAIGLEA WEAPON - Slow to begin.
ELITE JET - Bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced greenly for the majority of the race. Raced wide for the major part of the race.
WE'LL BEAT IT - Began awkwardly, shifted inwards. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CRAIGLEA NIKITA - Raced wide early.
POISE 'N' STYLE - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
GOLDEN GUARDIAN - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4: Townsville RSL Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
FORGIVE ME - Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight.
SILVER BOWS - Bumped by another runner at the start.
SWEET SODA POP - Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner.
GRAVETTIAN - Bumped by another runner at the start.
SENORITA ROSITA - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
SEK LOSO - When questioned about the disappointing performance of the gelding, trainer W. Kenning stated that in his opinion the step up in grade since its most recent start had been a major factor in the horse’s performance.
Race 5: Mater Health Services Class 3 Plate - 1000 metres
SUPERSTITION - Trainer Ms J. Hassett advised stewards that she will instruct Jockey J. Felix not to use the whip on the gelding unless it is absolutely necessary. Public announcements were made accordingly.
WE FOUND IT – Slow to begin.
MARK'S LEGACY - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
METEOR STORM - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
COUNTESS MIA - When questioned trainer G. Dickson was at a loss to explain the mare's poor performance and was most disappointed. Mr Dickson undertook to advise Stewards if anything that may have affected the mare's run today became apparent in the days ahead. Stewards will follow up with Mr Dickson regarding the mare's recovery.
Race 6: Bank of Queensland Open Handicap - 1400 metres
HORACIO - Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner.
ROWEINER - Bumped by another runner at the start.
GO BY RIO - Slow to begin.
I'M NOT SURE - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
MASTER AVATAR - Rider D. Hayse dropped his whip approaching the 200 metres.
BOBCAT - When questioned about the seemingly improved performance, compared to its most recent run, trainer A. Cameron stated that the gelding did not travel well down to Emerald and was very disappointing. He said that the horse had been freshened up for today's race and he had expected a return to its previous form. Stewards noted his explanation.

BRAVE BOW - Over-raced in the middle stages of the race. Crowded for room near the 250m and was steadied.
HILLCREST - Improved onto heels near the 900m and was steadied.
WHITEHOUSE AFFAIR - Laid out near the 250m and hampered another runner.
NEE DE PAPA - Hampered near the 250m and shifted out, hampering another runner.
STABLE SURPRISE - Shifted in slightly near the 800m and inconvenienced another runner.
KAYLEE - Had to be steadied near the 800m when racing in restricted room to the inside of another runner.
OLSSON - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
EASY WEEKEND - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BETTER CALL SAUL - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
