GENERAL

As D. Edmonds and D. Adam were indisposed due to illness and as D. Hayse was unable to fulfil his engagement in Race 1 due to transport difficulties, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

As apprentice A. Thomson was unable to claim down to her riding weight and unable to take her full claim on STARANTE (Race 3), CHAT TIME (Race 6) and HENRYROBERT (Race 7), she was fined $200.

Race 1: WEDDING VENUES TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

WRITTINKO – Blundered on jumping.

FAIRMONT – Inconvenienced near the 200m when crowded for room.

WRITTEN IMAGE – Forced in by another runner near the 200m, inconveniencing another runner. Had to be steadied near the 100m when tightened for room by another runner which shifted in.

CINEMATOGRAPHY – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly in the home straight and shifted in near the 200m, forcing another runner inwards, resulting in another runner having to be steadied. Shifted in again near the 100m, causing another runner to be steadied. Trainer M. McGuire was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

Race 2: MATER HEALTH SERVICES QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

LOVE IS BLIND – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

TOSCAVALE ROAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Crowded for room near the 700m. Reluctant to improve between runners near the 350m.

ORIENTAL GIRL – Slow to begin.

ALEXANDER THE GREY – Laid in near the 700m, crowding another runner.

RIVERSIDE KITTEN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 3: HYGAIN RELEASE OPEN H’CAP – 1200M

CONCLUDER – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner.

RIVARIVA – Overraced in the middle stages.

OLD SMOKEY – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Slow to begin. Shifted in momentarily near the 1000m, crowding another runner. Shifted wider leaving the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.

SEPTIMO – Slow to begin. Momentarily crowded for room near the 1000m and was steadied.

BULLION WOLF – Bumped on jumping away.

STARANTE – Began awkwardly.

Race 4: TABCORP CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M

HE’S BLESSED – Shifted in slightly near the 150m, crowding runners to its inside. Shifted in and away from another runner approaching the winning post, having to be steadied.

DAMN FINE – Shifted in when attempting a narrow run between runners near the 150m, tightening runners to its inside. Jockey R. McMahon was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care.

TRERICE – Shifted in slightly approaching the winning post, crowding runners to its inside.

DONAVIA – Restrained near the 150m when tightened for room by another runner which shifted in.

BEAUTIFUL LOVE – Slow to begin.

Race 5: H&S COMMUNICATIONS BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1400M

COUSIN MUSCLES – Slow to begin.

ZELENUS – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ACADEMY HILL – Laid in near the 900m, placing another runner in restricted room. Whilst Stewards noted the racing manners of ACADEMY HILL, Rider S. Pawsey was advised that a greater effort would be expected in similar circumstances.

COULD I BE – Placed in restricted room near the 900m and had to be restrained.

SKIFIELD – Raced ungenerously for a short distance when being restrained from heels near the 1000m.

Race 6: SKY RACING RATINGS BAND 0 – 65 H’CAP – 1000M

OUR RECIPE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

CHAT TIME – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 7: JIM ROBERTS LOCKSMITHS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M

DESPIRITO – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running entering the home straight before shifting to the inside and obtaining clear running then having a tendency to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages having to be corrected on two occasions in finishing the race off strongly.

DE LADY DELUXE – Clipped the heels of a runner that shifted out after making contact with the running rail near the 800m, blundering badly.

SENORITA FIORENTE – Slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA ZED – Overraced in the middle stages and shifted in near the 800m, making contact with the running rail and as a result shifted out, causing another runner to clip its heels and blunder. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding, trainer K. Johnston stated that the horse has impressed the stable since a gelding operation and at its previous run at Gympie, in her opinion, raced very well whilst being uncomfortable on the sand track. She added that CRAIGLEA ZED had continued to improve since then and worked well leading up to today’s event and she was confident of a forward showing. Her explanation was noted.
