GENERAL
 
Townsville Tuesday July 14 2020. Race 4. QTIS 3YO Handicap 1400m
 
LADY YENDOR - Stewards were advised by Trainer W Kenning that post-race blood tests had revealed the filly, which raced disappointingly, was suffering a severe kidney infection. Mr Kenning was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
 
Race 1: WELCOME BACK TO TTC QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1300m
 
GOODBYE EARL- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
PRINCESS GLEE- Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner that shifted out on jumping.
 
NORTHERN GREAT- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner.
 
KAORU PRINCESS- Bumped with another runner on jumping. When questioned in relation to his riding of the filly in the early part of the race Jockey S Wilson advised his instructions were to attempt to get his mount to settle with cover. However, in attempting this the filly raced ungenerously in the early stages, Jockey Wilson agreed with Stewards in that he may have erred by not allowing the filly to stride more freely.
 
MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC- When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding Jockey S Wiseman advised it had not been her intention to lead but after beginning well was trapped in a wide position and unable to obtain cover so elected to go forward passing the 1000m, eventually assuming the lead.
 
Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS    RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1000m
 
STAR BANNER- Began awkwardly.
 
LICKETY LACHIE- Slow into stride.
 
DUNATUN- Began awkwardly and shifted out on exiting the barrier causing Jockey J Stanley’s left foot to be crushed against the barrier partition. Jockey Stanley deemed himself fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Post-race veterinary examination reveal the gelding to have mild bruising to its left eye.
 
MICAWBER- Inclined to over-race in the early stages. Restrained after improving onto heels passing the 400m.
 
Race 3: RACING @ TTC TUESDAY 4TH AUGUST MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
RUN RAMPANT - Resuming after a lengthy absence from racing. Underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
 
COLONEL PENAGA- Slow to begin.
 
BE FAMOUS- Began awkwardly.
 
RICH PRINCESS- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to lay in down the running and had to be steadied off heels passing the 200m as a result.
 
JUST A LOVE SONG- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to hangout rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer Mr A Molino advised he believed the colt appreciated the softer racing surface and the shorter distance of today’s race. Mr Molino was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR102 for failing to notify that the horse had been gelded prior to its previous start and was directed to amend the stable return immediately.
 
GUSTNADO- Buffeted between runners on jumping. Shifted out and away from the heels of another runner near the 900m. Raced wide throughout.
 
OURMARIE- Shifted in bumping another runner on jumping causing App. K Swaffer to become momentarily unbalanced.
 
PANTONE- Raced wide throughout.
 
QUEZMAR- Raced wide throughout.
 
Stewards inquired into the reason why Jockey B Thomson was forced to check her mount BE FAMOUS passing the winning post. After hearing evidence from the riders involved and viewing the patrol footage it was determined that NORWEGIAN WOOD (P Cullen), shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post taking MURTALLICA (S Sheargold) in onto BE FAMOUS (B Thomson) which was forced to check as a result. Jockey P Cullen was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of the incident.
 
TWURKENITUP- Inclined to hang out down the running. Raced wide. On returning to scale Jockey G Watson advised the gelding had gotten its tongue over the bit in running. A post-race veterinary report failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 4: VETTA PRODUCTIONS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1609m
 
REBEL LAKE- Declared a late scratching at 12:43 when the mare was unable to be loaded onto the horse transport vehicle.
 
UNSHAKEABLE- Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out down the running.
 
NEWSTEAD- Slow to begin.
 
LANSALA- Over-raced in the early stages.
 
FIRERISE- Raced in restricted room near the 1000m. Obliged to steady near the 600m when the pace slackened.
 
AS YAWOOD- Obliged to steady near the 600m when the pace slackened. Stewards will interview Jockey G Watson in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
MOVING TARGET- Passing the 200m, shifted in and away from the heels of another runner runner which was inclined to lay out.

Race 5: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1609m
 
MUSTARRID- After having raced at Mackay 21/07/2020 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Inclined to hang out for the majority. Trainer Ms O Cairns was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
CROCODILE SHOES- Slow to begin. Taken wider by another runner passing the 500m.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
SWEET TASTE- Raced ungenerously for a short distance in the middle stages. Raced wide from the 600m
 
PURE HAWK- Slow into stride. Shifted wider passing the 500m in an effort to improve. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
Race 6: TAB DOWNLOAD THE APP OPEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
HOLY COMMAND - Resuming after a lengthy absence from racing. Underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Steadied of the heels of another runner immediately after passing the winning post.
 
SWEET PERFUME- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Raced wide the majority.
 
KENTUCKY FLYER- Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
HIDDEN IN HEAVEN- Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. When questioned in relation to the improved performance stable representative Mr G Ashford stated that the stable was expecting an improved showing today  having been pleased with the mare’s recent work and also considering her appreciation of softer tracks.
 
BREAK MY STRIDE- Shifted in abruptly on jumping. Raced wide the majority.
 
PLATINUM TYCOON- Raced wide the majority.
 
EXCEEDINGLY COOL- Raced wide the majority.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow trainer of 5th place getter HOLY COMMAND, Mr. G Morgan, to view the official photo. After viewing the photo Mr Morgan was satisfied with the result and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
Race 7: TSV CUP TICKETS - ON SALE NOW CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m
 
SILENT EXPLORER- Knuckled at the start and shifted out bumping another runner. Began to race ungenerously passing the 1000m when attempting to obtain cover before being taken wider by DREAM I CAN (G Kliese) which had taken charge of its rider and was racing fiercely despite his efforts to bring it under control. Was unable to obtain conver throughout and finished the race off fairly.When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding Jockey J Stanley stated that his instructions were to attempt obtain cover in running. Jockey Stanley added he believed he erred when electing not to push forward in the early stages after the pace of the race was slow and was consequently caught wide throughout. Trainer Mr S Massingham confirmed the instructions and stated he believed the slow pace of the race to be to the detriment of the gelding’s chances. Stewards noted both explanations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post-race urine sample was obtained for analysis.
 
DREAM I CAN- Over-raced in the early stages then took charge passing the 800m, despite the efforts of it rider, shifted out racing wide from that point and forcing SILENT EXPLORER wider on the track. Jockey G Kliese attributed the racing manners of the gelding to the slow pace.
 
INTENSE FOCUS- Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FUNKY MUSIC - Raced wide for the majority.

Race 8: MAGNUMS CATERING RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1200m
 
CHEEKY REWARD- Buffeted between runners shortly after jumping. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Shifted in passing the winning post hampering runners to its inside. App. K Swaffer was advised to exercise greater care and straighten her mounts sooner in future.
 
BANK TELLER- Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 1000m having to be restrained.
 
BUOYANCY- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.
 
FERINGO- Slow to begin and began awkwardly making heavy contact with the barrier partition. Made contact with the running rail passing the 900m.
 
KISS THE BOSS- Slow to begin.
 
GOOD CATCH- Slow to begin.
 
BUON NATALE- Steadied off heels passing the 1100m. Inclined to hang-in severely in the early part of the home straight and again nearing the winning post despite the efforts of its rider W D’Avila. Trainer M S Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
LIGHTHORSE LAD- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
PURRHAPS- Inconvenienced passing the winning post.
 
WOTSIZNAME- Obliged to steady passing the winning post to avoid the heels of another runner which was taken in.
 
PRICKLES- Shifted in and steadied off the heels of another runner which shifted in passing the winning post.
