SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

1st October 2021- Townsville

Race 9: TAB Class 3 Plate 1200m

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the tactics adopted on PITCHFORK which settled further forward than expected. Jockey D Smith advised that his instructions had been to lead, if possible, from the wide barrier and if unable then to remain wide as the gelding resents being restrained. Trainer C Attard corroborated the instructions adding that after showing some promise when arriving to his stable the gelding had performed disappointingly in its last few starts which has now led the stable to seek veterinary advise concerning a speculated breathing condition. Stewards acknowledged the statements and noted the fact that the instructions were not a major deviation from its usual racing pattern and considering the wide barrier draw it would be reasonable to expect the gelding to seek a forward position. Nonetheless Mr Attard was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR100 and undertook to advise of any results concerning the geldings condition going forward. Additionally, an analysis of betting for the race failed to reveal any nefarious activity or other irregularities.

Trainer L McCormack concurred with Jockey D’Avilla’s assessment.

DUBAI EAGLE- Inclined to race keenly for the majority.

YOU’RE NEXT- On returning to scale Jockey C Spry advised that his mount was unable to match the early fast pace and as such settled further back than preferable.
