SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB 14 NOVEMBER 2021

Race 8 CAIRNS DELIVERIES RATINGS BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1400m

Stewards today inquired into the performance and riding of CANDY GIRL which finished tailed off.

Rider N. Day advised that after the mare was inconvenienced near the 1200 metres it then failed to travel at any stage throughout the race. He stated he had applied pressure and slapped CANDY GIRL up leaving the 600 metres however it failed to respond to his riding. He stated that the hot conditions on the day, travelling and the extended time at the track may have contributed to the mares poor performance.

Trainer G. Hughes agreed with rider N. Days assessment and confirmed CANDY GIRL had arrived on course prior to race 1, as he did have a runner in that race and that with the conditions on the day this may have contributed to the mares poor performance and that he would now review his travelling arrangements in similar circumstances. Mr Hughes further advised the mare had pleased him since returning to its stable and he will monitor its progress going forward.

A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities

In considering all evidence, rider N. Day was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR 114(2)(a) to report to Stewards anything that may have affected the running of his horse.
