Race 7. TOWNSVILLE AMATEUR CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1609m

Stewards, today, inquired into the reason why DIO D’ORO (G Kliese) had to be restrained at a point near the 1400m. After hearing evidence from Jockeys Kliese, N Thomas and App K Swaffer and viewing the available patrol footage, it was established that LOVE EXPRESS (App K Swaffer) had shifted in when being ridden forward to improve from a wide barrier and in doing so had crowded the running of DIO D’ORO
which was restrained by Jockey Kliese to prevent further tightening to AMMOUDI BAY (C Spry) which was racing to the inside of DIO D’ORO. UP THE RIVER (N Thomas) which was following DIO D’ORO at the time was also momentarily inconvenienced in this incident. App Swaffer was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

GENERAL

The following overweights were permitted by Stewards:

Race 1: OYSTER COMPANY AUSTRALIA TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 metres

SENOR ANDY – Began awkwardly shifting out bumping with a runner to its outside. Shifted out abruptly when in clear running near the 600m.

SWEET FANTASY – Dwelt in the barriers losing ground.

ALTAR BOY – Slowly away. Bumped by another runner soon after jumping. Raced greenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.

TYCOON CINDY – Reluctant to stretch out on the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained several minor lacerations to both hind legs in running. Trainer Mr R Chillemi also advised Stewards that the filly may require a caslick procedure prior to next race start.

Race 2: GOURMET CREEK HONEYPUFFS OPEN HANDICAP 1000 metres

CHEVAUX – Slowly into stride. Shifted wider passing the 600m.

LOVE IS BLIND – Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to its inside.

EL SHADAY (NZ) – Bumped by another runner on jumping.

Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to a Good 4 retrospectively.

Race 3: BUSH TO BEACHES REAL ESTATE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 metres

NORTHERN GIRL – Began awkwardly.

KAMARCHER – Slowly away.

TILLY’S SECRET – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing a runner to its outside.

EXPLOSIVE GIRL – Began awkwardly and soon after was inconvenienced by a runner to its inside which shifted out. Raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

YABULU PRINCESS – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 4: NQ LICENSED EVENTS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000 metres

THAT’S TWO SLABS – Slowly away.

SOUND OF SLEAT – Inconvenienced when racing in restricted room soon after the start.

PROXIMATE CAUSE – Bumped with a runner to its outside on jumping. Approaching the 800m shifted out marginally resulting in another runner having to be steadied. Commenced to shift in under pressure near the 100m resulting in a runner to its inside having to momentarily restrained. Jockey G Kliese was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.

DO THE HIPPY – Approaching the 800m shifted in marginally and had to be steadied when a runner to its inside shifted out. Jockey C Spry reported that the gelding was inclined to race ungenerously throughout.

DAWN TOO GOOD – Bumped with a runner to its inside on jumping. Near the 100m momentarily restrained when a runner to its outside commenced to shift in. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

DANITES – Inclined to lay out down the running.

SHEPHERD OF FIRE – Inclined to lay in down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

STARFILLY – Raced wide for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an abrasion to the near hind leg.

Race 5: K & B CLEANING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609 metres

CANDY GIRL – Over-raced in the early stages.

TENNESSEE WHISKEY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Trainer B Crear advised that he had expected a forward showing today after the gelding’s previous start at Rockhampton where it improved to the lead passing the 700m it was required to make a sustained a run, rounding the home turn very wide, prior to tiring in the long home straight.

ODDFELLOW (NZ) – Had to be restrained for some distance in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Was unable to quicken when the pace picked up again passing the 600m. Jockey J Lyon was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

NUREMBURG CASTLE – Raced very ungenerously for some distance at the tail of the field when the pace slackened in the middle stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a poor recovery rate.

Race 6: GOOD SHEPHERD HOME MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 metres

WICKED AL – Slowly into stride.

BOOM BABY – Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Restrained when racing in restricted room passing the 1000m.

LITTLE IVY – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced in restricted room between runners passing the 200m.

GRANMA – Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner.

SHE’S A SINNER – Slowly into stride shifting out bumping with a runner to its outside. Trainer M Geaney was reprimanded under the provisions of AR232 after presenting the mare late to the enclosure.

BORROMEO – Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to its inside. Inconvenienced near the 300m by a runner to its inside which was taken wider. Trainer R Stagg was reprimanded under the provisions of AR232 after presenting the gelding late to the enclosure.

LAPSEKI – Connections advised Stewards of their intention for the mare to ridden more conservatively in order to assist with its finishing effort. The mare was ridden accordingly. Trainer S Hoffman was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR100. Shifted out near the 300m carrying a runner to its outside wider which subsequently inconvenienced a further runner to its outside. Jockey J Stanley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a)

TINY TIARA – Carried wider near the 300m when a runner to its inside shifted out. Trainer C McCann was reprimanded under the provisions of AR232 after presenting the mare late to the enclosure.

WHOBETHATNOW – Difficult to load. App M Potgieter reported that the gelding was inclined to over-race in running. Trainer D Amos was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

Race 7: CLUDEN PARK CHRISTMAS TRIVIA NIGHT 17TH DECEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP (2) 1200 metres

GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

BOUGATSA – Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.

MIGHTY MARMALADE – Slowly into stride after being bumped by a runner to its inside.

MONICA ROOM – Inclined to over-race passing the 900m.

BRAVE MISSILE – Inclined to over-race passing the 900m.

RYANO – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a laceration to the off hind leg.

SHEEZ MARVELLOUS – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 8: CELEBRATE AT CLUDEN PARK’S CHRISTMAS RACEDAY 11TH DECEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1) 1200 metres

CAT IN THE RAINE – Was declared a late scratching at 11:14am after sustaining and injury to the near hind leg. Trainer D Amos was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

SAPPHIRE WINGS – Began very awkwardly. Jockey J Felix reported that the gelding had raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

LOCKDOWN LADY – Slowly away.

FOCUS – Bumped on jumping when a runner to its outside shifted in.

RUN RAMPANT – Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner.

FIVEACLOCKSOMWHERE – Slowly into stride.

LA FURIOSO – Over-raced when awkwardly placed passing the 800m.

LIGHTHEADEDNESS – Raced wide for the majority.

KARBORS – Raced wide for the majority. Stewards questioned Jockey W D’Avila in relation to his riding of the gelding in the early part of the home straight. Jockey D’Avila advised that as the gelding possessed one short sharp finishing run at the end of its races Trainer C Attard had instructed him not to place it under any significant pressure until reaching the 200m. Stewards confirmed these instructions with Mr Attard, who, nonetheless, expressed disappointment with the performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

Race 9: ON POINT SOLAR & ELECTRICAL CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1300 metres

LIGHTHORSE LAD – Began very awkwardly.

AKILEOS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out near the 1200m carrying another runner wider.

HELL OF A BOY – Shifted in near the 1200m resulting in a runner to its inside which had been carried wider having to be steadied momentarily.

LIFETIME QUEST – Momentarily steadied near the 1200m when placed in restricted room between runners.

SET TO SIZZLE – Over-raced in the middle stages.

MALAWI GOLD – Shifted in under pressure near the 250m inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

STRIKE A BEAU – Near the 250 was inconvenienced when a runner to its outside shifted in.

App T Fenlon pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 100m she permitted COURTESY BUS to shift in under riding severely tightening the running of STRIKE A BEAU (S Wilson) which had improved to the inside of COURTESY BUS. App Fenlon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 10th December 2021 up to and including 17th December 2021. App Fenlon was advised of her right to Internal Review.
