Jockey M Abe pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR218(4)(b) in that he did have in his possession, whilst seated in the female Jockeys room, a mobile telephone. Jockey Abe was subsequently fined the sum of $300. Jockey Abe pleaded guilty to an additional charge under the provisions of AR228(b) in that he did engage in improper conduct by being present in the female Jockeys room. Jockey Abe was subsequently fined the sum of $200.
 
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
 
The start of the race was delayed when the Ambulance was late arriving on course.
 
GO GETABOY- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Jockey Wilson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 100m he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of QUEEN NOLA (App K Swaffer) and did fail to make sufficient effort to relieve that pressure at any time causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Wilsons license to ride in race was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence 29th December 2021 up to an including the 6th January 2022. Jockey Wilson was advised of his right to an internal review.
 
MR WHITTINGTON- Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner approaching the 800m. Became awkwardly placed on heels having to be restrained passing the 500m. Bumped with another runner passing the 300m.
 
OUR ADDICTION- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
REAL BOSSY- Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly. Bumped with another runner approaching the 800m and raced greenly for a short distance thereafter. Bumped with another runner passing the 300m.
 
KANGERONG MISS- Crowded for room passing the 500m.
 
QUEEN NOLA- When attempting to improve into a run between the inside running rail and GO GOETBOY (S Wilson) passing the 150m was obliged to steady and then check after that runner shifted in when insufficiently clear.
 
HIGHWAY DIAMOND- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALTAR BOY- Raced wide for the majority.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow App K Swaffer and Trainer G Horner to view the patrol footage of the home straight so as to ascertain whether grounds for an objection against 1st place getter GO GETABOY (S Wilson) were present. After viewing the footage both elected not to proceed with any objection and Stewards declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
 
 
 
Race 2: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM CLUDEN PARK Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
 
STRIKING ROCKET- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
ONE LAST TIME- Shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing another runner before shifting out and inconveniencing a further runner. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FESSUP- Momentarily inconvenienced soon after jumping. Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running.
 
SMARTY LEE- Momentarily inconvenienced soon after jumping. Raced keenly on heels passing the 800m. Inclined to shift in under pressure down the running.
 
VICTORY FOR US- Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LORD RIVERS- Shifted out passing the 200m inconveniencing a runner to its outside. App K Swaffer was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
 
MURANO MAGIC- Inconvenienced passing the 200m when a runner to its inside shifted out. Jockey Day advised that he had some difficulty directing his mount throughout the event and, in his opinion, the horse would benefit from a gear change. Trainer J Manzelmann advised Stewards he would look to enact a gear change prior to the mare racing again.
 
BOOM BABY- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 3: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
PURPLE HAT- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner.
 
GINGER MULE- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
THE DELINQUENT- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner.
 
FAST GIRL- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
DUTTON BRANDED- Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
KAMARCHER- Commenced to race keenly when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover passing the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
CANADIAN COMET- Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in when entering the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ROY’S ROAD- Shifted in around the heels of another runner on entering the home straight and inconvenienced another runner. Jockey D Smith was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MUZZLETOP- Held up for clear running on entering the home straight before shifting wider passing the 200m.
 
YABULU PRINCESS- Held up on the heels of a tiring runner from the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.

 
Following the running of this event the Track was upgraded to a Good 3, retrospective of Race 3.
 
 
 
Race 4: HYGAIN RATINGS 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BOUGATSA- Fractious in the barrier and reared as the start was effected losing ground. Trainer S Massingham was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.
 
RYANO- Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering runners to its inside before bumping with a further runner. Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages.
 
LIGHTHEADEDNESS- Severely hampered on jumping.
 
MOLONGLE DRIFTER- Severely hampered on jumping. Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages.
 
BORROMEO- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping.
 
RAISE DA VIBRATION- Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. Shifted out and away from another runner passing the 250m.
 
ZULU TUK- Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF- Raced wide for the majority.
 
CANDY GIRL- Raced wide for the majority.
 
LAPSEKI- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: BROWN BROTHERS BM70 Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
QUIDNI- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
HELL OF A BOY- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to race keenly down the back straight when being restrained. Inclined to lay out passing the 600m.
 
CASH RAIDER- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
WIDESPREAD- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
QUIDNI- Shifted out and bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to race keenly down the back straight.
 
BOYER- Inclined to race keenly down the back straight. Shifted in marginally passing the 600m. Jockey W D’Avila dropped his whip passing the 150m.
 
SET TO SIZZLE- Inclined to race keenly down the back straight when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Shifted in passing 300m when not fully clear of runners to its inside. Jockey S Pawsey was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of the notable effort Jockey Pawsey made to straighten his mount but deemed it to be marginally delayed. Raced wide for the majority.
 
THREE PHASE- Taken in by another runner which shifted in passing the 300m and consequently crowded a further runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PROANE- Crowded for room and obliged to restrain passing the 300m.
 
 
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start of the race was delayed when ASHTON BLAIR (W D’AVILA) became cast in the barrier and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:21pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the follow deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5:21pm:
 
5 cents in the dollar for the win
5 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer G Hughes was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
ONLY WANNA SING- Dipped at the start. Raced wide until a point near the 800m.
 
LOUD NOISE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
CAT IN THE RAINE- Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with another runner. Inclined to lay out passing the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SILENT EXPLORER- Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages.
 
WICKED DANCER- Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Inconvenienced passing the 250m by another runner which shifted out.
 
SHIRANDA- Whilst laying out shifted out and away from another runner passing the 250m inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Jockey N Thomas was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
LOVE IN BLIND- Shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running passing the 250m. Jockey S Wilson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Following the running of this event Jockey W D’Avila was attended to by QAS officers and stood down from his remaining engagement. Jockey D’Avila was advised he would require a medical certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: NORTH EAST EVENT HEALTH SERVICES BM58 Handicap 1000 metres
 
 
RED PERONI- Stewards permitted Jockey R McMahon to ride the gelding after Jockey W D’Avila was unable to fulfil his engagement. Was declared a late scratching at 5:49pm under veterinary advice after the gelding was found to have dislodged a tooth in the tie-up area leaving an open wound in the mouth. All bets placed on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5:49pm:
 
4 cents in the dollar for the win
7 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer C Attard was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
JUSTWINS- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner soon after. Inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages.
 
ENDORSE- Shifted in abruptly on jumping.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT- Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in away from another runner passing the 100m before being corrected by its rider.
 
DO THE HIPPY- Shifted out under riding soon after the start and hampered a runner to its outside. Jockey N Day was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. On returning to scale Jockey Day advised that his mount had felt sore in front. On 22/12/2021 Trainer E Sewell advised that the gelding had pulled up sore in both front legs. Trainer Sewell was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
CALCULUS- Bumped with another runner soon after the start.
 
MY BOY TICKETS- Bumped by another runner on jumping and taken wider bumping with a further runner. Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages.
 
TRAVERS- Bumped with another runner soon after the start and taken wider bumping with a further runner.
 
MURUNGAL- Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels passing the 100m.
 
WILD WIND- Bumped raced wide for the majority.
