GENERAL
The thoroughbreds WANNA TWEET and ALWAYS SACRED (NZ), which were resuming after lengthy spells, both underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and were cleared to race.

Race 1. TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 2YO & 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

SUPER FAST – Jockey J Stanley, whose arrival on course was delayed due to transport difficulties, was replaced by N Thomas as the rider of the gelding.

KENMORE SPIRIT – Restrained in the early stages in order to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m.

OUR ADDICTION – Inconvenienced on jumping.

VEE EIGHT POWER – Began awkwardly. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 900m. Lost the near hind plate in running.

GETONTHEDRAGON – Reluctant to load. Shifted in on jumping, inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Inconvenienced when racing in restricted room near the 900m, and again near the 800m by another runner which was racing greenly.

MR KOBO – Shifted in on jumping, inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Inconvenienced near the 800m.

BRIDEZILLA (NZ) – Raced greenly in the early stages. Shifted in, despite the efforts of Jockey N Day, when crossed by another runner near the 800m, inconveniencing a further runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority.

LISTEN LISTEN – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

MISHANI MENACE – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 800m.

DOMINANT ROSE – Laid in during the middle stages.

GINASUE – Jockey P Romeo was permitted to ride the filly 0.5kg overweight when no other suitable rider was available. Jockey Romeo was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR190(3). Reluctant to load.

Race 2. HYGAIN MAIDEN PLATE 1609m

ART THIEF – Inconvenienced near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.

COUNT THE BEERS – Shifted out near the 200m inconveniencing a runner to its outside.

JESKO – Slowly away. Inconvenienced near the 900m by another runner which was racing ungenerously. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in down the running. Jockey J Baker, who complained of cramps on returning to scale, was examined by QAS officers and cleared to continue with his remaining engagements.

TOSCAVALE ROAD – Jockey P Romeo reported the gelding had been inclined to lay in from the 800m.

MODERN LEGEND – Shifted out approaching the 1000m inconveniencing another runner. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m. Raced greenly for the majority.

STREET CULTURE – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages after improving onto heels. Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight.

KIM ALICIA – Restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m. Inconvenienced near the 200m.

TEX’S GIRLS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced near the 900m by another runner which was racing ungenerously.

Race 3. VALE LES MCLELLAN CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000m

WILD WIND – Shifted out abruptly near the 200m. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed a trace of blood in the right nostril, on closer inspection this was found to have been caused by external trauma.

COLLOMBATTI – Shifted in momentarily under pressure near the 200m inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Jockey S Sheargold was advised to exercise more care.

WAR GENERAL – Raced wide for the majority.

JUST A LOVE SONG – Hung in over the concluding stages placing App I Teh at a disadvantage.

STARFILLY – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing runners to its outside. Restrained off heels near the 900m.

ALWAYS SACRED (NZ) – Inconvenienced on jumping. Inconvenienced passing the 200m when a runner to its outside shifted in under pressure.

TACTICAL ILLUSION – Raced wide for the majority.

HERVOR – Inconvenienced on jumping. Jockey J Baker, who was distressed on returning to scale, was stood down from his remaining engagement and advised he will be required to provide the results of a satisfactory full medical examination prior to resuming race riding.

CALCULUS – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 4. TOWNSVILLE DOLLARS QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1400m

KING JESTER - Raced wide for the majority.

SANTA MARINELLA – Began awkwardly. Tightened between runners soon after jumping. Jockey L Morrison reported the gelding was never comfortable in today’s track conditions. Trainer R Miller reported that on return to his Cairns base the gelding displayed bruising around both eyes.

RIVERSIDE SPECIAL - Raced wide for the majority.

RISK IN ROME – Began awkwardly.

HUSETTE – Jockey S Wilson reported the filly was inclined to hang out in running.

KAMARCHER – Over-raced in the early stages.

MACH SEVEN – Slowly into stride.

ROYAL ARCHER – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.

Race 5. IN MEMORY OF RAY TAPIOLAS RATINGS BAND 0-65 HANDICAP 1609m

LIGHT FIELD – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.

CALL ME MO – Shifted in marginally near the 1000m, momentarily inconveniencing another runner. Over-raced in the middle stages.

DEADLY DIVA – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m. Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. 2nd offence.

LOVE FLIES – Slowly away. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC – Jockey J Stanley reported the gelding was inclined to hang out in running.

REBEL LAKE - Raced wide for the majority.

OPINIONS – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

NOIR JACK - Raced wide for the majority.

HIGH ADVICE – Momentarily inconvenienced, when racing in restricted room, approaching the 1000m.

Race 6. GREAT NORTHERN NQ CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1609m

BULLION WOLF – Raced wide for the majority. Tired over the concluding stages.

MAQUEREAU – Restrained after improving onto heels near the 550m. Shifted out around heels to obtain clear running passing the 400m, when not clear to do so hampering a runner to its outside. Hung out at the point of the home turn further inconveniencing the same runner. Jockey L Morrison was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

RULE THE WORLD – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

BRILLIANT MIND – Raced ungenerously between the 1300m and the 1000m. Hampered near the 350m by another runner which shifted out. Further inconvenienced at the point of the home turn. Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

PLAY ME NOW (NZ) – Jockey W D’Avila replaced the indisposed J Baker as the rider of the gelding. Laid in under pressure near the 200m inconveniencing a runner to its inside.

BUSTER BLOCK – Hung out in the middle stages.

BERING SEA – Inconvenienced near the 200m by another runner which was laying in under pressure.

NEW KING (GB) – Jockey P Romeo was permitted to ride the filly 0.5kg overweight when no other suitable rider was available. Jockey Romeo was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR190(3). Trainer J Ryan was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR106(2) after the gelding was presented to race without the blinkers. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed evidence of the gelding having been struck in the right eye by a clod in running.

GAELIC – Inconvenienced when tightened between runners on jumping. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.

Race 7. HORAN & BIRD OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

LOVE IS BLIND - Raced wide for the majority.

SIMPLY SPLASHING – Slowly away.

INCHING CLOSER – Inconvenienced near the 200m by another runner which was shifting ground under pressure.

FUNKY MUSIC – Was inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running. Inconvenienced another runner near the 200m.

ZOUVILLA – Shifted out and away from another runner near the 200m.

BOLD TYPE - Raced wide for the majority.

EL SHADAY (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages.
