Hit The Road – Failed to secure clear running in the straight.Jockey J Murphy was questioned regarding the riding tactic he adopted on the filly in particular the reason he did not commence a run forward three wide at the 450 metres when racing to the inside of Betta Al and room existed to improve. He was further questioned as to why he did not progress with a run between Croagh Patrick and Betta Al at the 200 metres. Jockey J Murphy advised that at the 450 metres he noted that Betta Al had been hanging out and he was contemplating taking a run to that horses inside at that point however Betta Al shifted back in and the run closed. He then elected to follow Croagh Patrick and moved around the heels of the winner Lucky Jim at the 200 meters to obtain clear running and was again disappointed when the run between Croagh Patrick and Betta Al closed due to Betta Al shifting inwards. He confirmed that he was unable to fully test Hit The Road over the concluding stages due to being held up for clear running and his mount wanting to lay in under pressure.
