Race 1: K&R PLUMBING QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

GHOST ROCK – Dislodged its rider on the way to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Trainer’s representative A. Wallace was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s pre-race behaviour.

I AM HERCULES – Slow to begin.

ON A ZEPHYR – Made heavy contact with another runner on jumping away.

ROYAL HOOTENANNY – Reared after being fractious in the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

SWINDLERS MISS – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room in the home straight and made contact with another runner on multiple occasions.

LADY CASUARINA – Made heavy with contact with another runner on jumping away.

MATILDARE – Momentarily steadied from heels in the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.



Race 2: SOUTHERN CROSS AUTOMOTIVE STAKE 0-70 H'CAP – 1050M

STARSTREAMED – B. Appo was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip in a backhand manner.

ONE IN ONE OUT – Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with CHART. Inclined to lay out and raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

TEMUJIN’S QUEEN – Dislodged apprentice R. Ride on the way to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Apprentice Ride was examined by ambulance officers and cleared to take her ride.

HAVEN QUEEN – Had to be steadied leaving the 300m when tightened for room between STARSTREAMED and TEMUJIN’S QUEEN, which was taken out by EMBRAER. Apprentice L. Attard (EMBRAER) was issued with a reprimand.

HI HI – Slow to begin.

Race 3: NEW HOPE GROUP CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M

CLEVER BOY – Bumped with another runner on jumping away.

LORD BEAUFORT – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. Bumped at the 400m. Apprentice N. Nishio was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip in a backhand manner.

THIS IS WAR – Bumped at the 400m.

BRAVE DAZZLER – Raced wide throughout.

SCENIC ROAD – Inconvenienced near the 1100m. Raced wide throughout.

DOULA – G. Geran reported that his saddle began to shift forward leaving the 700m. Shifted in abruptly near the 500m due to the saddle having shifted and bumped heavily with MADGE, which had to be steadied and shifted out, in turn inconveniencing LOOK AT ANYTHING, which also had to be checked, resulting in MADGE and LOOK AT ANYTHING both losing ground. Stewards accepted G. Geran’s explanation regarding his saddle shifting and deemed it a racing incident.

LOOK AT ANYTHING – Commenced to overrace near the 1100m, shifted out and inconvenienced SCENIC ROAD and then continued to overrace for some distance. Inconvenienced near the 500m and lost ground.

MADGE – Bumped heavily near the 500m, shifted out and had to be checked.

Race 4: CHARLTON TYRE SERVICE CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1210M

Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice A. Fancourt, the rider of 4th placegetter MURTA CAPE, to view the Stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether she had grounds on which to lodge an objection. After viewing the film apprentice Fancourt declined to lodge an objection.

STRENGTH – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages and approaching the 700m had to be steadied from heels. Raced wide throughout. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 400m.

NO NEGATIVE WAVES – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

MURTA CAPE – Steadied and brushed the running rail when racing in restricted room approaching the 100m.

MIDNIGHT BEAUTY – Reared and fell in the mounting yard, examined by the veterinary surgeon in the parade yard and again behind the barriers and cleared to start. Steadied from heels approaching the 700m. Had to be steadied when tightened for room leaving the 300m.

DR LEWICKI – Dislodged its offside winker near the 600m.

RITZY BELLE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. K. Yoshida was reminded of his obligations when his mounts shift ground.

PRINCE OF PEACE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 100m.

Following the event T. Treichel reported that he had sustained an injury. As a result, jockey Treichel was stood down from his remaining engagements and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Treichel was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to riding again.


Race 5: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1210M

RUFFO – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that her mount hung out for the entirety of the event. Trainer N. Hilton advised Stewards that his stable vet would conduct a veterinary examination of the horse in coming days, the results of which he would report to Stewards.

TO BE KING – When questioned, jockey S. Bogenhuber reported that the gelding raced only fairly and felt flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer’s representative T. Aldridge reported that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

PEARLY COURT – Had to be steadied from heels leaving the 900m.

RED WARNING – Raced three wide without cover. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and near the 100m shifted in abruptly.

SMALL CHANGE – Inclined to hang in in the early stages.


Race 6: DAWN OSBORNE FLORIST 0-65 H'CAP – 1625M

QUALITY MAN – Brushed the running rail approaching the 150m.

FRONT FUN – Stood flat-footed, missed the start by a considerable distance and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer J. Chan was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to starting again.

UP AND ABLAZE – Inclined to hang in in the early stages.

BREWING – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer B. Sturgess reported that the horse would now be sent for a spell, however he was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before the horse was permitted to race again.

GETTING’JIGGYWITHIT – Slow to begin.

Race 7: QFFS 0-65 H'CAP – 1625M

CALEDONIA’S CALL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

LUCKY DUCKY – Overraced in the middle stages.

DRIVING WHEELS – Stewards acceded to a request by trainer P. Nolan Jnr to permit apprentice E. Ljung to replace the injured T. Treichel due to the horse’s characteristics.

ISTALENA – Tightened for room at the 1400m when NOSUBFORLUCK was taken in by DRIVING WHEELS. Apprentice E. Ljung (DRIVING WHEELS) was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.

Race 8: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

MANDRYKA – Slow to begin.

ISLAND EMPIRE – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

PACHENA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

WILD ROMANCE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out to improve at the 600m and raced wide from that point.

Race 9: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE MAIDEN H'CAP – 2150M

BULLDOG’S PRIDE – Raced wide in the middle stages. Apprentice L. Attard was fined $200 for returning to scale overweight.

ELEGIES – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

DUKE OF KINGSFORD – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang in from the 800m.

HAVEN DUKE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 600m.

DON’T LOOK ETHLEN – Had to be steadied near the 750m when tightened for room to the inside of SPIRIT OF TRAVESTON, which was taken in by BULLDOG’S PRIDE. Apprentice L. Attard (BULLDOG’S PRIDE) was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

CARACAS – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the horse to lead if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

CARNCOTTON – Overraced in the early and middle stages and was inclined to hang out.

GRACE WITH FIRE – Bumped with another runner on jumping away.
