Apprentice Ainsworth’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Sunday 5 July and expire at midnight on Friday 17 July 2015. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account apprentice Ainsworth’s good riding record and her plea of guilty.

As the track lighting between the 1600m and the 1250m had failed and this section of the track was only illuminated using emergency backup lighting, an attempt was made to restore the lighting to that section of the track. However, when this attempt failed, Stewards were advised by the Toowoomba Turf Club that the emergency lighting would be the only available lighting to that section of the track. Stewards therefore ordered a track inspection with the riders of this section of the track to determine if it was safe to run the final event, which was to be over 1625m. Following this inspection, jockeys expressed concern with riding under the emergency lighting, however advised that they would reserve the decision on whether the meeting should continue to the Stewards. After giving consideration to the matter, Stewards were of the view that racing under emergency lights had the potential to pose an increased and unacceptable risk to both horses and riders and therefore, bearing in mind all relevant safety factors, determined that the last race should be abandoned.
