GENERAL

As W. O’Connell was indisposed due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: HOT FM CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000M

MIDNIGHT CURFEW – Slightly slow to begin.

MASSIVE ATTACK – Laid out from rounding the turn near the 700m and then raced three wide with cover.

STAR DROP – Raced 4 wide throughout. Laid in near the 500m and was forced to steady from heels.

Race 2: OPTUS BUSINESS CENTRE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1625M

Stewards permitted apprentice F. Elliott to replace W. O’Connell on EASY TO SMILE when no other suitable rider was available on course at the time.

FRIGHTENING BOLT – Raced wide throughout.

GOLD DEAL – Slow to begin.

SERALA – Raced ungenerously when the pace of the race steadied near the 1200m. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey Goltz advised that he would have liked to have settled in a more forward position, however the mare failed to muster the necessary speed to do so, which resulted in him settling in a mid to back position. He added that the mare, in his opinion, may not have backed up from its last start 6 days ago when winning and also was not entirely comfortable on the prevailing track conditions tonight and as a result proved disappointing.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT – Steadied from heels when the pace of the race steadied near the 1200m.

NANDINE ROAD – Raced wide throughout.

ROCKIANA – On returning to scale apprentice B. Derbyshire reported that her mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event and proved somewhat difficult to restrain. She added as a result her mount raced in a more forward position than she had anticipated.

Race 3: QUEENSLAND CHOICE MEATS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M

MACSPICK – Tightened for room at the start and raced further back than anticipated. Bumped with another runner when placed in restricted room by another runner for a short distance near the 1100m.

ZARACHA – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Hung in badly throughout the event and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer G. Osborne was advised that the horse must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.

ROMP IT IN – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer R. Hilton was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the horse next racing.

WONDERFUL WALLY – Bumped with another runner when placed in restricted room by another runner for a short distance near the 1100m. Bumped with another runner near the 900m.

ROCK ‘N’ TONE – Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner near the 900m.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8.

Race 4: SEDL AGENCIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

READY FOR ROYALTY – Although advertised as carrying blinkers, under an assurance from trainer K. Waller that a gear change had been effected, the horse was permitted to race without blinkers. Slow to begin.

BOAT RACE – Trainer M. Park was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identity Card. Clipped heels and blundered near the 1000m when SAGACIOUS ROSE shifted in when insufficiently clear. N. Evans, the rider of SAGACIOUS ROSE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in at that stage and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 5 September and expire at midnight on Friday, 18 September 2015.

KAYENTA – Trainer K. Kemp was fined $100 for the late declaration of B. Stower as the rider.

SNIPPETS OF LUCK – Began awkwardly.

WHEN IN DOUBT – Slow to begin.

Race 5: VANDERFIELD BM70 H'CAP – 1200M

GOOD JOB BRO – After being caught wide early, S. Bogenhuber allowed her mount to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader passing the 800m. When questioned as to the disappointing performance, jockey Bogenhuber advised that after being caught wide in the early stages she was forced to work up the hill to enable her mount to cross to a position closer to the rails, however when placed under pressure over the concluding stages the gelding failed to run on and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Sears advised that the horse has a history of racing poorly when unable to obtain cover in its races, which he felt was a major contributing factor to the performance tonight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Sears indicated that notwithstanding the veterinary report, he will have blood taken from the horse and if any abnormality is identified, he will report it to Stewards.

VIENNE – As B. Appo was stood down by the paramedics following his ride in Race 4, N. Evans was substituted as the rider of this runner.

RULING MISS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 6: WELLCAMP AIRPORT QTIS 3YO BM70 H'CAP – 1100M

RED FUTURE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 900m. On returning to scale jockey Bogenhuber reported that her mount laid in in the home straight.

MISS RICCIARDO – Following the horse’s disappointing performance, trainer K. Kemp reported that he will now review the horse’s preparation, which may include sending the horse for a spell.

Race 7: WINNING EDGE BM85 H'CAP – 1000M

IONA FAST ONE – Momentarily held up at the heels of another runner near the 150m.

TEXAN LAD – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 900m.
