Race 1: VANDERFIELD CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1210M

KYOGLE TOWN – Made the home turn wide.

MONSIEUR HUGHES – Began awkwardly and then made contact with the hind quarters of another runner on jumping away and as a result lost ground. Placed in restricted room near the 900m and buffeted when KYOGLE TOWN shifted out when not completely clear. Apprentice T. Brooker, the rider of KYOGLE TOWN, was advised to exercise more care. When questioned as to the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance, S. Apthorpe advised that after suffering interference at the start, he was forced to settle further back in the field than he had anticipated. He added that the gelding was also inconvenienced near the 900m and from that point only travelled reasonably and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to run on as he expected. He went on to say that in his opinion at this stage of the horse’s preparation it would be better suited in races over a further distance than tonight’s event.

RHIATENN ROAD – Commenced to race keenly after being crossed by ARAWAK in the early stages and was checked heavily off the heels of that runner. Raced in restricted room to the inside of another runner near the 900m and was steadied. Steadied from heels when overracing near the 700m.

PRIVATE LABEL – Slow to begin.

THE BURRAMARTHA – Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1210M

CRANKITUP – Raced wide throughout. Bumped heavily with another runner near the 900m.

MAUVE LOTUS – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

KYNANCE COVE – Slow to begin and lost ground after standing awkwardly in the barriers. Bumped heavily with another runner near the 900m. When questioned as to the disappointing performance, apprentice M. Schrapel advised that after being slow to begin, in his opinion the horse failed to handle the track conditions tonight and also did have a tendency to lay in throughout the event, which was to its detriment. Trainer S. Iverson, whilst expressing a little disappointment in the performance tonight, advised that in his opinion the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and the kickback as a result of racing back in the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MAXIRODS – Raced in restricted room to the inside of CAZNOT leaving the 1100m.

PRINCE OF PEACE – Apprentice B. Derbyshire was fined $200 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

CAZNOT – Shifted out approaching the 900m.

Race 3: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE BM75 H'CAP – 1050M

EQUISSENTIAL – Tightened for room at the start. Raced wide throughout.

I AM BOSS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. When questioned as to the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance, jockey L. Attard advised that it was his intention to race in a forward position tonight, however after meeting with interference at the start he was forced to settle much further back than he had anticipated. He went on to say that as a result of racing back in the field the gelding resented racing in the kickback tonight, which he felt was a major contributing factor to its poor performance. Trainer T. Sears advised that the horse normally races best when able to obtain a forward position, and therefore as a result of being inconvenienced at the start tonight was disadvantaged by having to race further back in the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MOUNT KOSCIUSZKO – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

WICKED BABE – Tightened for room at the start. When questioned as to the horse’s disappointing performance, apprentice M. Schrapel advised that he intended to be in a forward position, however after being inconvenienced at the start was forced to race further back than he anticipated and added that in his opinion the mare resented the kickback during the event. He further added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the mare failed to run on as he had expected and proved somewhat disappointing.

GIRLS COMMAND – Jumped with its head in the air at the start and lost significant ground. Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance leaving the 900m whilst being restrained from heels.

Race 4: HANNAS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1210M

ACIPENSER – Slow to begin. Bumped with another runner near the 700m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

GOOD AFFAIRE – Reluctant to hold its position to the inside of runners when racing greenly near the 900m and as a result lost ground. Bumped with another runner near the 700m.

MISS LINSCOTT – Slow to begin.

DANCE HALO – Difficult to load. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly.

OUR REET PETITE – Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. On returning to scale A. Best reported that his mount raced flat tonight when asked to quicken in the home straight and further added that he advised trainer B. Currie that in his opinion the mare may be better suited in races over a further distance than tonight’s event.

Race 5: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES QTIS 3YO C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

A LITTLE WICKED – Slow to begin and made contact with the hind quarters of another runner on jumping away.

PSYCHO SAID SO – Tightened for room and checked leaving the 800m.

Race 6: MOORE STEPHENS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1625M

WILD SANDS – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

NANDINE ROAD – Bumped with another runner rounding the home turn.

ROCKDAY – After being caught wide in the early stages G. Geran allowed his mount to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 1000m.

GETTING’JIGGYWITHIT – Raced wide from the 800m. Bumped with another runner rounding the home turn.

ROCKIANA – Hung in for the majority of the event and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Trainer J. Thomas reported that in light of the horse’s racing manners tonight, he will add either a lugging bit or a bubble cheeker to the horse’s gear prior to its next start. Mr Thomas was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
