Race 2: GEOFF, MICKEY & JACK JAKINS CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1200M

Trainer P. Facoory was fined $200 for the late declaration of riders for SHERBET and RED WORLD (Race 5).

HURRICANE CASSIE – Stewards questioned apprentice B. Derbyshire in relation to her riding of the mare in the early stages whereby after beginning well she immediately restrained, which resulted in her being unable to cross the two runners drawn to her inside, which resulted in her racing three wide during the early and middle stages of the event. Apprentice Derbyshire advised that she was instructed to ride HURRICANE CASSIE in a midfield position and to not race on the fence as she was advised that the mare races better when able to get to the outside of runners in the home straight. Trainer B. Andrew confirmed the instructions issued to apprentice Derbyshire and expressed satisfaction in the manner in which she rode the horse, however was disappointed with the overall performance of HURRICANE CASSIE tonight. He added that in his opinion the mare may have raced flat tonight when racing second up and undertook to advise Stewards of anything that comes to light in coming days which may have had an effect on the performance. Stewards advised apprentice Derbyshire that in their opinion it would have been more advantageous for her to ride her mount forward in the early stages to cross the runner directly to her inside, which would have afforded her a position closer to the fence during the event, however bearing in mind the instructions issued by Mr Andrew, Stewards took the matter no further.

MIDNIGHT CURFEW – Late scratching at 5.16 pm on veterinary advice.

MASSIVE ATTACK – Laid out rounding the home turn and shifted wider on the track.

Race 3: PLATINUM HEALTH GROUP CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M

VIVA LA PROXY – Laid in in the home straight. When questioned as to the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer J. Anderson advised that at its last start at the Gold Coast the mare was bumped heavily on two occasions during the event which in her opinion may have affected the horse’s performance as it was mildly distressed immediately after the race. Ms Anderson added that prior to this the horse’s form was sound and therefore she had expected a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation.

SNOW ROBIN – On returning to scale S. Bogenhuber advised that she was disappointed in the horse’s finishing effort over the concluding stages tonight, however advised that in her opinion the mare may have got its tongue over the bit and therefore advised connections that the mare would be suited racing in a tongue tie at its next start.

STICK FIGHTER – Slow into stride.

CAZNOT – Slow to begin.

Race 4: WESTRIDGE FRUIT & VEGETABLE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin.

Moncrieff was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for MS SARANDON prior to it being permitted to race again. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4

ISLAND SUNSET – Slow to begin.

DUBLEO DABBLE – S. Bogenhuber could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance tonight, however did advise that at no stage during the event did the mare travel strongly on the bit.

MI LAZZARO – Momentarily eased to avoid the heels of another runner near the 800m.

Race 5: ARCADIAN ORGANIC MEAT CO MAIDEN H'CAP – 2150M

THE FRANKSTAR – Bumped at the start. Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion wide and then raced wide from that point. Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

RED WORLD – Slow to begin. Overraced badly in the home straight on the first occasion and after passing the winning post had to be checked to avoid the heels of another runner.

INKA DINKA DOO – Overraced in the early stages.

USSANDU – Began awkwardly and bumped THE FRANKSTAR.

BLAZING INFERNO – Jumped away awkwardly.

HALO DE LAGO – Had to be steadied and shifted to the inside to avoid the heels of a tiring runner at the 500m.

SPRUNGYA – Overraced in the home straight on the first occasion.

TWINCITI DANCER – Slow to begin.

Race 6: TONKIN FARMING BM70 H'CAP – 1850M

DUSTY’S FELT – Tightened for room at the start. Passing the 800m raced ungenerously for a short distance whilst being restrained.

BILLABONG BIRD – Raced wide from the 1100m. S. Bogenhuber could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance of her mount, which in her opinion raced flat today. Trainer G. Blades also expressed disappointment with the performance, however advised that he will now send the horse for a short spell.

Race 7: BROOKSTEAD FARMING QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

CANNY SAY – Slow to begin and trailed the field by a considerable distance throughout the event. Following the performance tonight, trainer H. Clarke advised that he would spell the filly immediately and upon resuming would look to start the filly at non-TAB venues. On this assurance, no direct action was taken.
