As S. Fawke was stood down by the ambulance officers at today’s Gatton meeting and

Race 1: Charlton Tyre Service Class 1 H'cap – 1100m

SIR ALBERT – Slow to begin.

HIDDEN EDITION – Began awkwardly.

MEDAL AFRIQUE – Had to be steadied after improving on to heels near the 500m. A short distance later shifted out and bumped AL’S DELIGHT.

AL’S DELIGHT –Bumped and forced wider rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout.

SORORITY SISTER – Raced 3 deep without cover.

PERFECTLY SWEET – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

CLARAGH – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey K. Yoshida stated that the filly travelled comfortably throughout until straightening and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Yoshida indicated it was the stable’s intention to now retire the filly from racing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer’s representative S. Scanes was advised to report anything that may come to light in the following days which may have had a bearing on the performance.

HELLAROO – Jockey A. Allen reported to stewards it was not his intention to lead in today’s event however from the inside alley he did not have to pressure his mount excessively and found the lead easily. He also added that he recommended to connections the addition of blinkers for the filly’s next race start.

Race 2: Dawn Osborne Florist Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1100m

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards the opportunity to view the patrol films to ascertain whether all runners had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the films, stewards were satisfied all runners had been afforded a fair start and therefore correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

SPICE OF LIFE – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start.

CROUPIER – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 400m when PIGGY BANK shifted out. B. Appo, rider of PIGGY BANK, was reprimanded for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear. Raced wide.

SEZWHO – Raced 3 wide without cover.

Race 3: K & R Plumbing Supplies Class 2 H'cap – 1300m

DORMELLO – Stewards permitted the gelding to race without a tongue-tie, which was part of its advertised gear after receiving an undertaking from trainer L. Berger that he had made the appropriate gear change. Stewards will confirm with Racing Australia such a gear change had been made. Stewards questioned jockey A. Allen regarding the tactics adopted whereby the gelding led tonight, which was in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. Jockey Allen indicated to stewards his instructions were to be positive out of the barriers and pushed forward to take up a handy position. He also indicated that after rounding the home turn the gelding weakened in the home straight and he believed this was as a result of leading tonight, which may have been detrimental to its chances. Trainer Mr L. Berger advised stewards that the instructions have always been to race in a handy position if possible. He indicated the gelding’s last start at Grafton was over 1000m and was unable to show the necessary speed to take up a forward position and settled further back than anticipated. He noted tonight the gelding was stepping up to 1300m and was not surprised to see the horse lead. Stewards noted the explanation.

HARADIFY – As apprentice S. Fawke was stood down due to injury at today’s Gatton meeting, B. Appo was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Fractious in the gates and stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

ANGEL DANCER – Held up rounding the home turn and obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running approaching the 200m.

KAYENTA – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Jockey K. Yoshida reported to stewards it was not his intention to race as far forward as he did tonight, however after beginning well he did not have to overly pressure his mount in obtaining a forward position. Trainer K. Kemp stated he was surprised to see the mare racing as far forward, however from the inside barrier was content to see the mare travelling comfortably in a handy position.

KODO – Raced 3 wide without cover. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ROUGH EDDIE – Bumped shortly after the start and in turn shifted in and made heavy contact with KICK OF THUNDER.

KICK OF THUNDER – Bumped heavily shortly after the start. Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of the horse. Of concern to stewards was Ms R. Payne’s riding of that filly rounding the home turn and in the home straight. After taking evidence from apprentice R. Payne stewards adjourned the inquiry to allow Miss R. Payne to be represented and to also allow trainer T. Crane to attend. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

FAIRMORE – D. McIntosh, rider of SHE’S A KICKER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 200m he shifted out when insufficiently clear of FAIRMORE, resulting in B. Appo having to check FAIRMORE at that stage. D. McIntosh was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight, 21 November and to expire at midnight, 30 November 2015.
