GENERAL
Stewards conducted a number of stable inspections this morning of trainers engaged in tonight’s meeting. No breaches of the rules were detected.
Race 1: Summer Racing @ Clifford Park QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 870m
TISANI GREY – Trainer K. Kemp was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Schrapel as the rider of the horse. Laid in rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice M. Schrapel was cautioned for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
JAKUTA – On return to scale jockey S. Bogenhuber reported her mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event. Slow to begin.
TEMUJIN’S CHOICE – On return to scale jockey S. Bogenhuber reported her mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event. Slow to begin.
Race 2. Vanderfield John Deere Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1300m
CHANTILLY MISS – Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer J. Thomas for the late declaration of rider. Apprentice T. Brooker was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
KAYENTA – Trainer K. Kemp was fined $100 for the late declaration of K. Yoshida as the rider of the horse. Post race trainer K. Kemp advised stewards that the mare would now be sent for a spell.
HUSSY ERIN – Tightened for room at the start and lost some ground.
CANTBUYBETTER – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
ACHIEVEMENTS – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: XXXX Gold Class 2 H'cap – 1625m
QABLA – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
WORLD SERIES – Slow to begin.
PRINCE OF PEACE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
ANGEL DANCER – Near the 400m improved onto the heels of another runner and shifted out.
RITZY BELLE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
DAZZLING SHIRAZ – Apprentice M. Schrapel was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
TRUE PRINCE – A post race veterinary examination revealed a significant injury to the near fore fetlock. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
Race 4: Edwards Saddleworld Class 4 H'cap – 1050m
ISN’T HE A BEAUTY – As L. Attard was to be overweight, S. Fawke was substituted as the rider of the horse. L. Attard was fined $100.
EXTRA SHOT – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RUMOUR AND SCANDAL - The start was delayed when gelding proved difficult to load. Attempted to buck for a short distance in the early stages of the event.
ISLA POPPY – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room at the start and as a result lost ground. Raced wide from the 700m.
CHAMPAGNE TALES – Made contact on jumping away.
ESTEVEZ – Made contact on jumping away.
ONE IN ONE OUT – Raced wide in the early stages. On return to scale apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn, which resulted in her being unable to fully test the mare until entering the home straight. Apprentice T. Brooker was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Race 5: Tyrrell’s Wines Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
CHIPEWYAN – Bumped shortly after the start.
ISSY COMMAND – Bumped shortly after the start.
NATIONAL TRAIL – Dwelt at the start and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated. Near the 900m, forced wider on the track by another runner and as a result raced wide for the remainder of the event. Both apprentice L. Attard and trainer T. Sears expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding, however could offer no tangible explanation. Mr Sears advised he would have his stable veterinarian examine the horse and have blood tests taken from the gelding in the days subsequent to tonight’s event and if any abnormality came to light would report back to stewards. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
CHIPEWYAN – Bumped near the 1000m.
LAURINOOR – Bumped near the 1000m.
SORORITY SISTER – Raced keenly in the early stages when attempting to be restrained and shifted wider on the track near the 900m.
PERFECTLY SWEET – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 6: Vanderfield Hino CG&E Maiden H'cap – 1000m
HIGHTOWER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
HE’S EASY GOING – Began awkwardly.
ROUGH EDDIE – Steadied near 700m when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner.
Race 7: Dawn Osborne Florist F&M Maiden H'cap – 1000m
HEATHER BLOOM – Slow to begin.
OFFWITHTHEFAIRIES – Raced wide throughout.
PIEETYS – Bled from both nostrils during the race. Connections were advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
SOPHIE’S DESTINY – Jockey S. Bogenhuber was cautioned for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
