ROCK ‘N’ RHUMBA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure from the 200m.

BEER ‘N’ BARMAID – Apprentice B. Appo pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FRISCOS SHADOW, resulting in that runner being forced to steady to avoid the heels of BEER ‘N’ BARMAID, and that he then permitted his mount to continue to shift in when insufficiently clear of JERRYVIL, WENSLEY ROAD, EXTRASAY and ONCE TWICE, resulting in those runners being tightened for room and EXTRASAY having to be checked and ONCE TWICE being severely tightened for room and losing ground. Apprentice Appo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 23 January and expire at midnight on Thursday 4 February 2016.

I CAN I WILL I AM – When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, S. He added that the gelding travelled only reasonably throughout the event and when placed under pressure ran on only fairly. Trainer E. Hayes expressed disappointment with the performance today, however added that the gelding sweated up quite badly prior to the event which may have contributed to the horse’s poor performance.
