Race 1: Toowoomba Portable Toilets Class 3 Plate – 1050m

GOHARDASUN – After being fractious in the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Made contact with the running rail leaving the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer C. Smith subsequently advised Stewards that blood samples taken from the gelding revealed no abnormalities, and it was his intention to continue with the horse's current preparation.

BAY DUKE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RULING MISS – Slow to begin.

SPECTACULAR ROCK – Had to be steadied from heels leaving the 700m when overracing. Held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 500m.

LEAD THE WAY – Jockey K. Yoshida reported his mount hung out in the early stages and hung in from the 400m.

TYCOON ACE – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

OL’ BROWN EYES – Raced wide throughout.
Race 2: K&R Plumbing Supplies Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

SEQUASI – Began awkwardly and was bumped heavily at the start by DANORO LAD and lost ground.

DANORO LAD – Bumped heavily at the start. Raced wide throughout.

EXCELLENT STAR – Shifted out at the 400m and made contact with DANORO LAD, forcing that horse wider on the track. Raced wide throughout.

SAGACIOUS ROSE – Forced to travel wide around the home turn.

MASAKARI – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m, and near the 100m again was tightened for room and had to be steadied when LONTANA was hanging in under pressure and shifted in. Apprentice H. English was issued with a severe reprimand for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting ground.

GALLIVANTER – When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, trainer T. Sears agreed that it was disappointing. He stated he intends to see how the horse pulls up in the coming days and then will reassess its preparation.

GALWAY TOWN – Apprentice F. Jervis was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 3: Ihear- Life Is Worth Hearing Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1300m

SMOOTH TALKER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice H. Phillips was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days, to commence at midnight, 12 March and to expire at midnight, 19 March for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account her recent poor record regarding breaches of the whip rule.

TYPHOON RED – Hung out throughout.


Race 4: FKG Group Ratings Band 0-60 H'cap – 2150m

CARACAS – As apprentice H. Phillips was unable to claim down to her riding weight, B. Derbyshire was substituted as the rider of the horse. Apprentice Phillips was reprimanded.

ARDROVA – Began awkwardly and bumped COUNT ROMANO at the start.

COUNT ROMANO – Bumped at the start.

EIGHT CHANCE – Raced wide in the early stages.

THERE’S NEMO – Raced keenly in the early stages.

MORVEN – Bumped on 2 occasions near the 700m.

MARAU DAZE – Held up on the heels of a tiring runner near the 450m. Bumped on 2 occasions near the 700m. Jockey G. Geran was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

DUBAI GEE EYE – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, in particular the middle stages when the horse raced several lengths clear of the main body of the field, and the performance of the horse, jockey C. Small stated he to work harder than anticipated to obtain the leading position and following that he allowed his mount to travel at a comfortable pace without being pressured, however the gelding did not respond to his riding from the 600m and proved disappointing. Trainer L. Small advised it was her intention to start the horse at Ballina on the 12th of March and would then review its current preparation.

BOARDWALK – Following the race trainer J. Edwards reported the horse was lame. A post race veterinary examination was found to have a bowed tendon in its off foreleg. Connections will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.


Race 5: McConachie Stedman QTIS 3yo Class 1 Plate – 1050m

JILL’S SHADOW – After being fractious in the float when travelling to the course, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

KAVALONG – Slow to begin and bumped with RALPH THE DRAGON at the start. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

RALPH THE DRAGON – Bumped at the start. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Jockey S. Drake was reprimanded for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

STITCHEN TIME – Got its head in the air and raced ungenerously when being restrained passing the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Raced wide throughout.

DREAMER’S GOAL – Hung out for a short distance near the 700m.

GLOBAL RED – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Brisbane Broncos Maiden H'cap – 1200m

TEMUJIN STAR – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 5.55 pm. Connections will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

GRAN SABANA – Rider change. L. Tilley replaced N. Evans as the rider of the horse. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice S. Alam, rider of MAITLAND GEM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift out near the 300m when insufficiently clear of GRAN SABANA, which was forced wider and had to be checked near the 200m. Apprentice S. Alam was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight, 13 March and to expire at midnight, 22 March.

SCRAWLING - Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping with DEAR MARY.

ST JAMES SQUARE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

SPOT OF RAIN – Shifted in shortly after the start and bumped LOVE UNKNOWN. A post race veterinary examination of the horse which finished tailed off, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

LOVE UNKNOWN – Bumped shortly after the start.

NOTHIN’ ZAPPENIN’ – Bumped on the point of the home turn.

KENKERJOCA – Bumped on the point of the home turn.

SCRAWLING – Raced wide.

LEGS UNBARRED – Raced wide.

NUSKEE PARKER – Raced wide.


Race 7: Hertz Class 2 H'cap – 1625m

CLANGORANDA – Slow to begin. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

COURT EXPRESS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

IMA GONSKI – Bumped approaching the 800m. Raced wide throughout.

CORDON ROUGE – Bumped approaching the 800m. Rider apprentice J. Oliver had his whip entangled in the reins near the 200m, which prevented him from using his whip effectively for the remainder of the home straight.

ROCK ME CRAZY – Brushed the running rail at the 800m. Performed below market expectations. A post race veterinary examination of failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

CAPSIZED - When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer Mr K. Jones advised that the gelding was not suited by the soft track at its previous start, had been working well in the lead up to tonight’s event and was suited by the increase in distance.
