As Wayne O’Connell was injured at the Goondiwindi meeting today, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: UBET QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event.

BOLD CRUSADER – On returning to scale, jockey N. Thomas reported that after finding the leading position his mount made the turn near the 700m awkwardly and, as a result, shifted wider on the track.  He added that this resulted in LONGING FOR improving to his inside and he was forced to race in a one-off position for the remainder of the event.

PROLETAIRE – Steadied to avoid heels leaving the 800m.

RED MONKEY – After being slow to begin, the colt was further hampered at the start by other runners.  Hung out in the early stages.

BEACH DRUM – Began awkwardly.

TRUST IN CASH – Began awkwardly and was then steadied away from the heels of another runner near the 900m.

TAABINGA – Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: VALE SEN CON BRETT FORTE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M

I’VE GOT FRIENDS – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

YOURS TRUTHFULLY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Steadied after being momentarily placed in restricted room approaching the 200m, and laid in in the home straight.

Race 3: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1625M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of the 2nd place getter UNIQUE MYSTIQUE, to view the Stewards patrol footage with a view to lodging an objection against BENICO’S PRINCE being declared the winner.  After viewing the films, Apprentice Nothdurft elected not to lodge an objection.  As a result of Apprentice Nothdurft’s decision not to lodge an objection, Stewards gave consideration as to whether an objection should be lodged on behalf of the connections of UNIQUE MYSTIQUE.  After viewing the footage, Stewards also elected not to lodge an objection, and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.

FREE BILLY – Overraced badly in the early stages and proved difficult to restrain by its rider.  Raced ungenerously with its head in the air whilst being restrained approaching the 1200m.

BENICO’S PRINCE – Raced in restricted room near the 900m.  Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

WALK TO THE BAR – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.

VENECIA – Slow to begin.

FLYING LUCKY – Blundered approaching the 1300m.  Raced in restricted room near the 900m.

LEPRECHAUN LAD – Slow into stride.  Momentarily raced in restricted room at the 500m.

Race 4: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN H’CAP – 1625M

IN KOBE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

RAVAILLION – Overraced in the early stages and shifted wider on the track rounding the turn near the 1300m, and as a result raced wide from that point.

Race 5: MOORE TRAILERS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1100M

RULER’S PRIDE – Tightened for room shortly after the start.  Checked to avoid the heels of another runner leaving the 900m.

CHOIX DE ROSES – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: NUTURF CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1050M

Upon entering the track, THE CAPTAIN’S LADY (B. Nothdurft) became fractious, dislodged its rider and galloped riderless to the barriers.  After being recaptured, the horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.  After being loaded into the barriers, the filly became fractious, was removed from the barriers and was again examined by the veterinary surgeon.  The horse was subsequently declared a late scratching at 8.00pm.  On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on THE CAPTAIN’S LADY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

30 cents in the dollar for the Win # 6
32 cents in the dollar for place of winner #6
35 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5

The stable representative for Trainer B. Currie was advised that THE CAPTAIN’S LADY must
must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
