GENERAL
 
As Bradley Appo was indisposed due to illness, and J. King was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made in Races 2, 4 and 8 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE 870M
 
As R. Williams was to be overweight, K. Yoshida was substituted as rider of AMELIA JANE..  Jockey R. Williams was reprimanded.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Williamss exemplary record in relation to this rule.
 
The start of this race was delayed when AGUERO was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.
 
AGUERO Apprentice D. Graham was fined $200 for failing to claim her full allowance.. Made heavy contact with the fence in the enclosure, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to race.
Slow to begin..
 
REAL DYNAMITE On return to scale, jockey C. Eaton reported that her mount laid in for the majority of the event..
 
HARD LOVE On return to scale, jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount hung out rounding the home turn.
 
REINA Tightened for room and lost ground near the 550m when racing to the inside of AGUERO which laid in despite the best efforts of its rider.
 
KILRUSH Slow to begin.. Raced ungenerously during the middle stages of the event and proved difficult to ride.
 
SIDILLY Slow to begin.. Broke down badly after passing the winning post and was euthanased on humane grounds.
 
Race 2: RAY BUNCH MACHINERY MAIDEN PLATE 870M
 
The start of this race was delayed when BRAX broke through the gates and galloped riderless for a considerable distance before being captured.. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.28pm.. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

18 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #7
27 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #9
 
Trainer G. Arnold was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next start.
 
Apprentice H. English was not injured as a result of this incident.
 
HUGOOS DESTINY Stood flat-footed and refused to jump, and then took no competitive part in the event. Trainer M. Hemmings was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next start.
 
SUMO ESPRIT Slow to begin and then further hampered at the start when MISHANI LA SCALA jumped out.
 
GREGGS GIRL Bumped on jumping away.
 
LUVLEE Bumped on two occasions by another runner in the early stages of the event.
 
MISHANI LA SCALA Bumped on two occasions by another runner in the early stages of the event.. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROYAL BOUQUET - Trainer L. Powell was reprimanded for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Ms. Powellls exemplary record in relation to this rule..
 
SECRET DRAGON Bumped on jumping away.
 
Race 3: PENGELLY TRUCKS & TRAILERS CLASS 5 HHCAP 1200M
 
CREDIT CARD Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MISHANI SHIRAZ Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of CREDIT CARD MISS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 850m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISHANI SHIRAZ (Apprentice R. Goldsbury), resulting in that runner being tightened for room, and Apprentice Goldsbury having to take hold of her mount and losing rightful running.. Apprentice Nothdurftts licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days days, to commence at midnight on Tuesday 10 October 2017 and expire at midnight on Wednesday 18 October 2017.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Apprentice Nothdurftts guilty plea and his previous good record in relation to this rule.
 
HIGHTOWER Began awkwardly.. Apprentice R. Goldsbury, the rider of MISHANI SHIRAZ, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in near the 950m, resulting in MR BOXVALE (M. McGillivray) being taken in onto HIGHTOWER (Apprentice H. English) which resulted in that runner being tightened for room, making contact with the running rail, and being checked.. Apprentice Goldsburyys licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 1 October 2017 and expire at midnight on Monday 9 October 2017.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Apprentice Goldsburyys guilty plea and her previous good record in relation to this rule.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the geldinggs off-fore leg.
 
MENDELSSOHN Slow to muster early speed.. Checked to avoid the heels of another runner near the 950m.
 
Race 4: LAND TRANSPORT CLASS 3 PLATE 1625M
 
ALFIE JUNIOR Prior to the event, connections advised that jockey S. Bayliss will be instructed to ride aggressively today in an endeavour to obtain a more forward position than the horsees usual racing pattern.. As a result of beginning very awkwardly and losing ground, the horse was required to settle at the rear of the field.
 
INFINITE REIGN After being caught wide in the early stages, jockey C. Small allowed his mount to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m.. Steadied to avoid the heels of SHOTACROSS THE BOW (B. Stewart) which shifted in near the 900m when not completely clear.. Jockey B. Stewart was issued with a reprimand as a result of this incident.
 
WAR FRONT Slow to begin.
 
NAUTICAL LAD Declared a late scratching at 1.48pm on veterinary advice.. Trainer J. Spencer was advised that she will be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it next racing.
 
HIGH AFRICAINE Slow to begin.. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPAES PAT OOSHEA PLATE 1000M
 
After being dislodged from her mount after passing the winning post in Race 1, Apprentice S. Lacy was examined by Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagement.
 
EARLY AGREEMENT Bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start.. Placed in restricted room near the 550m when commencing to weaken to the inside of HOPES ETERNAL which improved into a narrow run to the inside of ACCEPTITA which shifted in marginally.
 
THE REINVESTOR Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
HUEY Raced 3 wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
ACCOMPLISH Began awkwardly, and then bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start..
 
DANCING DIVA Began awkwardly.. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TREZORO Began awkwardly.. Apprentice S. Lacy reported that, on return to scale, the filly had its tongue over the bit. Apprentice Lacy was fined $200 under AR. 137A(4)(c) for using the whip when her mount was out of contention.
 
Following the running of this event, Apprentice S. Lacy reported to Stewards that she was experiencing general soreness as a result of being dislodged after the winning post in Race 1.. Stewards advised Apprentice Lacy that she will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.
 
Race 6: THE GREAT WHITE CAMPAIGN MAIDEN HHCAP 1200M
 
CRAB BOY Raced ungenerously, with its head in the air for a short distance, whilst being restrained to a position closer to the fence.. Raced wide throughout..
 
CAPTAIN CRUMPET Began awkwardly.. Buffeted between runners passing the 1000m and lost ground.
 
LOTTIE DENO Finished tailed off.. A warning was placed on the horse for being uncompetitive.
 
CORAL SEAS Became fractious in the barriers and got its head under the gate.. Stewards questioned the Starter and the veterinary surgeon as to why a veterinary examination was not carried out on CORAL SEAS as a result of this incident.. Starter Mr P. Brennan advised that he had not observed the incident, and the veterinary surgeon reported that he was unaware of the extent of the incident.. Stewards advised both parties of their expectation that in circumstances such as these a veterinary examination is undertaken.. Both parties undertook to review their practices when officiating at the start to prevent further incidents such as these occurring in the future.. Trainer J. Gregory reported that the horse pulled up well following the race with no abnormalities, however he undertook to advise Stewards should the horse exhibit any signs of soreness in the coming days.. Mr. Gregory also advised Stewards that it is now his intention to spell the mare..
 
FIGHTING TEO Began awkwardly.

MISSY ATTITUDE Raced wide throughout.
 
CHASINGWAGTAILS Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
WILMA Raced ungenerously near the 900m after being crossed by another runner, and had to steady from heels.
 
Race 7: COMPASS BUSINESS ACCOUNTING BENCHMARK 65 HHCAP 870M
 
The start of this race was delayed as CAPTAINNS ANGEL was reluctant to proceed to the barriers, and the race was further delayed when a gear adjustment had to be made on the mare.
 
STRIVE TO SUCCEED - Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of POETIC DRAGON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 750m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of STRIVE TO SUCCEED, resulting in that runner clipping the heels of POETIC DRAGON causing that runner to lose ground.. Apprentice Nothdurftts licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, with this suspension to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred by Apprentice Nothdurft in Race 3.. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Apprentice Nothdurftts guilty plea and his previous good record in relation to this rule.

DR DEEJAY Tightened for room shortly after the start.. Apprentice H. Phillips, the rider of STICK WITH ME, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift outwards over the concluding stages when insufficiently clear of DR DEEJAY, resulting in that runner clipping the heels of STICK WITH ME which then blundered.. Apprentice Phillipss licence to ride in races was suspended for 15 days, to commence at midnight on Monday 2 October 2017 and expire at midnight on Tuesday 17 October 2017.> In assessing penalty, Stewards deemed this incident to be high range.. Stewards did however take into account Apprentice Phillipss guilty plea and her previous good record in relation to this rule.
 
Race 8: TOOWOOMBA BETTA HOME LIVING BENCHMARK 62 HHCAP 1300M
 
BULLETPROOF MONK Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground.. Trainer G. Baker was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next start.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MASSIVE ATTACK Blundered at the start.. On return to scale, jockey M. Pegus reported that his mount overraced throughout the event and, in his opinion, this was the major contributing factor to the geldinggs poor performance today.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
COLLYWOBBLE Bumped on jumping away.
 
KID CRUIZE Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
AIR DIAMOND Bumped on jumping away.
 
Race 9: OOSHEA FAMILY CUP CLASS 1 HHCAP 1050M
 
CHARLIEES DUST Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping away resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced.. Steadied and lost ground near the 800m.
 
BOLD MOVE Declared a late scratching at 10.45am on veterinary advice after being injured in its float whilst being transported to the course. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.
 
SIR BAM Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SNEAKY SNIPER Bumped heavily on jumping away and became unbalanced.
 
SAY CAVALLO Laid out rounding the home turn.
