GENERAL

As the Doomben and Gold Coast meetings were abandoned, the Toowoomba meeting was brought forward and the race start times were amended as follows:

Race 1 – 2.17pm
Race 2 – 2.57pm
Race 3 – 3.37pm
Race 4 – 4.17pm
Race 5 – 4.57pm
Race 6 – 5.35pm
Race 7 – 6.22pm

As jockey D. Evans and apprentice H. English were unable to fulfil their engagements due to the meeting being brought forward, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Apprentice N. Keal was fined $300 for failing to claim down to his riding weight in Races 2, 4, and 5.

Race 1: GC EVENT HIRE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1210M

NORTHERN REVENGE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

I’M FAVULOUS – Slow to begin. Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported that, after being slow to begin, she elected to settle the gelding at the rear of the field as she felt that if she permitted her mount to stride forward it would have been caught wide, and she would have made too much use of her mount.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded from a Soft 6 to a Soft 5.

Race 2: UBET MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to enable Stewards to view the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether FAIR SET was denied a fair start. After viewing the film, Stewards were satisfied that the horse was afforded a fair start, and it was therefore declared a runner.

HOT CORONA – Made heavy contact with the hindquarters of DE LOSKO leaving the 200m after being taken in by MY FRIEND ROB, which shifted in at that point despite the efforts of its rider.

MY FRIEND ROB – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

DE LOSKO – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped heavily by another runner leaving the 200m, and was momentarily inconvenienced.

FAIR SET – Reared as the start was effected, and lost considerable ground. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that the gelding will require a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.

DABKE – Momentarily steadied leaving the 200m.

MBWALI – Bumped shortly after the start. Got its head in the air whilst being restrained from  heels near the 850m.

TEDDER AVENUE – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

Race 3: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1050M

CAPTAIN LEO – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Apprentice S. Sweeney was fined $400 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of her whip use.

TURBO TEDDY – Apprentice B. Nothdurft was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions and in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of his whip use.

SOLTINHO LAD – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

BLACK MINK – When questioned regarding the filly’s poor performance, jockey K. Yoshida reported that his mount travelled well until placed under pressure at the home turn.  He added that the filly may be better suited on a flat track. Stable representative M. Henderson reported to Stewards that, in his opinion, the filly is more suited to surfaces which are more rain affected than the track today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Race 4: CREATE FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

Stewards afforded Trainer B. Currie and jockey N. Tomizawa, the connections of the 2nd placegetter MISHANI ROMAN, the opportunity to view the Stewards' patrol footage over the concluding stages to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection against 1st placegetter ACCOMPLISH. After viewing the film, Mr. Currie and jockey Tomizawa indicated that they did not wish to proceed, and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

WICKED WAYS – Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Stable representative M. Henderson was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s racing manners. Held up upon entering the home straight.

NOONOO – Bumped on the hindquarters by THE LAST SEQUALO shortly after the start.

SALLY’S SHADOW – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

THE LAST SEQUALO – Began awkwardly. Hung out from a point approaching the 800m.

Following a significant downpour, the track was downgraded from a Soft 5 to a Soft 6 after the running of this race.

Race 5: PLATINUM HAIR TOOWOOMBA CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1625M

The start of this race was delayed when HERRSCHAFT proved difficult to load.

WOLF TALES – Made the crossing at the 1500m awkwardly.

SILVER SCREEN – Reared as the start was effected striking the upright of its stall and, as a result, lost ground. Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained leaving the 1500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

PARELEMA – Slow to begin.

Race 6: BLOOMING GORGEOUS BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1210M

BRAVE DAZZLER – Apprentice S. Sweeney was fined $200 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of her whip use, and her earlier breach in relation to this rule.
