GENERAL
Stewards approved the following jockey to ride overweight.
Race 6 – Michael Hellyer plus 1kg at 55kg,
 
 
Race 1: TOOWOOMBA CRANE TRUCKS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 2150 metres
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Raced wide. Laid out near the 250m.
 
JERONIMOS (NZ) – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
TOKYO BLOSSOM – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Over-raced early and middle stages. Near the 250m was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced when HE’S VIRAL (NZ) laid out.
 
OCTOBER JOY – Began awkwardly, shifted in then buffeted between runners.
 
KIBBIT RAHEEB – Began very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.
 
PRINENTE – Raced wide from the 800m.
 
CONSULAR – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: SARAH AND KIERAN PERKINS Class 4 Handicap 1000 metres
 
VELORUM – Raced wide.
 
LATENIGHTTOUGHGUY – Began awkwardly.
 
RAPIDO GRIS – Began moderately, shortly thereafter hampered and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
SAM'S A NATURAL – Buffeted on jumping. Had some difficulty in obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
HUE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CITROUILLE – Began awkwardly, bumped, shifted in. Approaching the 200m disappointed for a run to the inside of DOUBLE COCO, obliging its rider to steady from heels and shift wider to secure clear running.
 
DOUBLE COCO – Inclined to lay in at various stages. Near the 200m laid in under pressure.
 
ROMAN HUSSLER – Raced in restricted room near the 700m. Jockey C Small was reminded of his obligations in terms of AR132(6)(C) to not use the whip when out of contention.
 
Race 3: BROTHERS JRL TOOWOOMBA VOLUNTEERS Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Following the running of race 2, the track was upgraded to a good 4.
 
JUST ENGAGED – Bumped on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early and middles stages before racing in restricted room near the 900m to the inside of MANDALONG FLAG which was racing in restricted room and became unbalanced. Bumped near the 200m. Inclined to lay in when approaching the 100m.
 
MANDALONG FLAG – Near the 900m when racing in restricted room was bumped and became unbalanced. Jockey S Apthorpe was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide. Jockey M Savva was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
PEARLS 'N' PIMMS – Raced ungenerously near the 900m.
 
TAKE THE LEAD – Raced wide.
 
Race 4: HAIR BY DEANNE MAREE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1300 metres
 
MAYA BAY – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S Champkin was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
OVERSEAS (NZ) – Near the 250m was disappointed for a run between EELLOH and MISS MCKINLEY obliging its rider to alter course back nearer the rail to secure clear running.
 
MISS MCKINLEY – Raced keen early and middle stages.
 
SIMON SAYS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: GOLLAN RACING PRESENTS THE DARRYL GOLLAN MEMORIAL QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap 1000 metres
 
RUBAAHY – Near the 900m raced in restricted room, momentarily steadied from the heels of KEYBOARD which shifted in. Raced wide. Jockey M Savva was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
KEYBOARD – Laid in near the 900m.
 
HOPETOUN SUNRISE – Jumped awkwardly and out, raced greenly in the early stages. When tiring in the straight, raced greenly.
 
RED DEFCON – Raced keenly early. Jockey Nathan Evans when asked to comment on the filly’s performance stated that she raced very greenly throughout and would benefit from the experience. Jockey N Evans was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) in that he used his whip consecutively prior to the 100m.
 
WE GIRLS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: LAND TRANSPORT Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
COBURG – Began awkwardly, shifted in. Laid rounding the home turn.
 
INSPIRED SHADOWS – As jockey N Tomizawa was delayed from another venue, replaced by jockey N Evans. Began awkwardly and was ungenerous shortly thereafter, steadied from heels and lost ground.
 
GERTIE GOER – Trainer C Geran was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its pre-race behaviour. Carried in on jumping and inconvenienced.
 
SPOOKY SPECTRE – Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Trainers A & D Simpson advised the mare is to barrier trial to Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
 
TERESHKOVA – Carried in on jumping and inconvenienced. Near the 750m momentarily steadied from the heels of GOLDEN GROOVE which rolled in before being corrected by its rider. Had difficulty obtaining clear running entering the home straight.
 
GOLDEN GROOVE – Shortly after the start steadied from the heels of GERTIE GOER which shifted in. Jockey G Geran (GERTIE GOER) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
MISTER MONTAGUE – Raced wide.
 
Race 7: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY MCCARTHY Maiden Handicap 1625 metres
 
 
GOOMBUNGEE LAD – Accidently dropped his whip entering the home straight.
 
MY WHISTLEBLOWER – Raced keenly early and approaching the 1300m commenced to over race. Shortly thereafter steadied away from heels and shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder. Apprentice Jake Molloy was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
NOTHIN' BUT LOOKS – Slow to begin.
 
LIZZIE'S PRIDE (NZ) – Was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of MONGOLIAN FLAME near the 200M obliging its rider to switch across heels to secure clear running.
 
OUR POLARIS – Slow to begin. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
MONGOLIAN FLAME (NZ) – Jockey M Hellyer reported that his mount over-raced.
 
CANNY BOY – Raced wide. Near the 800m rolled in.
 
FLETCHER'S MUTINY (NZ) – Near the 800m raced in restricted room for a short distance when CANNY BOY rolled in.
 
MISS MANSFIELD – Steadied near the 1300m when crossed by MONGOLIAN FLAME. Rolled in under pressure approaching the home turn.
 
DUCHESS BREE – Near the 500m improved onto the heels of a tiring runner and was inconvenienced. Approaching the home turn had difficulty obtaining clear running before again improving onto the heels of the tiring MISS MANSFIELD which rolled in under pressure and was inconvenienced.
 
 
Race 8: VALE KENLEY WALDRON BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1850 metres
 
LUCASAYD – Near the 200m raced in restricted room. When questioned regarding the performance of LUCASAYD, Apprentice J Molloy stated that the gelding settled in a favourable position and when placed under pressure approaching the home turn did not respond to his riding as expected and proved disappointing adding that the gelding felt one paced. Stewards noted his comments. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding failed to find any apparent abnormalities.
 
CAIRNDOW – Near the 1200m bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.
 
BUMP'N'RUN – Raced keenly early. Near the 200m when under pressure shifted in and away from ANGELS SHARE which rolled in slightly.
 
ANGELS SHARE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Jockey G Geran was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
 
CHICA BONITA– Near the 1400m improved onto heels and was steadied.
 
STAR DIVA – Apprentice T Townsend reported her saddle slipped leaving the 1400m placing her at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
