Stewards permitted the following overweights at tonight meeting:
 
Race 8- Jockey J Stanley +1kg
 
 
Race 1: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE         1200m
 
FIELD OF MARS- Fractious in the barrier prior to the start, rearing and shifting the saddle. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barrier and was passed fit to start before being resaddled. Trainer M Currie was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Laid in passing the 800m, momentarily crowding DOONA, before being corrected by its rider. App C Vitler was advised to exercise greater care in ensuring his mounts do not shift ground in similar circumstances.
 
POWERALONG- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
RED DECEPTION- Raced wide for the majority.
 
HI JULES- Bumped passing the 1100m. Momentarily crowded passing the 900m. Bumped soon after entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure down the running. Bumped on the hindquarters leaving the 100m, becoming unbalanced and shifted out further.
 
POWER FLASH- Bumped on jumping, shifted out and bumped a further runner. Shifted in marginally and bumped leaving the 100m becoming tightened for room and loosing ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow post-race recovery. Jockey A Thompson advised that, in his opinion, the mare may have been over-represented in the market and would likely derive a fitness benefit from the run.
 
PREVARICATE- Tightened soon after the start and lost ground.
 
UNUSUAL MELODY- Raced wide in the early stages after beginning only fairly from the wide barrier before being permitted to stride forward passing the 900m and settling in a one-off position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
GO GIRL GO (NZ)- Bumped on jumping.
 
TWOPOINTFOUR- Stewards permitted the scratching of the gelding when no rider was available.
 
DOONA- Raced keenly when crossed near the 1000m. Momentarily crowded near the 800m. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and bumped.
 
INTRECCIATO- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily held up on the heels of a tiring runner approaching the 400m and shifted in. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
READY TO BOOM- Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 1100m. Shifted in marginally passing the 900m momentarily crowding HI JULES. App M Potgieter was advised to exercise greater care and ensure he does not permit his mount to shift ground in similar circumstances.
 
 
 
Race 2: CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1000m
 
APOLLO TEN- Began awkwardly before being crowded and obliged to momentarily steady. Laid out in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BOURNE READY- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISSION POSSIBLE- Slow into stride.
 
PALEFACE RINGO- Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure early stages of the home straight and bumped the inside running rail near the 200m.
 
BARBRA- Slow into stride. Raced keenly for some distance near the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
GREY POWER- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 3: HANNAS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE      1000m
 
KOBE ASCOT- Began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped, tightening runners to its inside. Trainer A Sweeney was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result. Raced wide for the majority.
 
VITTHAL- Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ZIN ZAN READY- Bumped on jumping.
 
LETTERS OF ROMANCE- Bumped the inside running rail passing the 700m. Laid out under pressure and bumped passing the 50m.
 
NIC'S DREAM- Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting in to obtain clear running near the 150m before soon after being disappointed for a run and having to be steadied before again being disappointed for a run and bumped whilst racing in restricted room near the 50m. Consequently, went to the line without being fully tested.
 
OVERTERN- Began awkwardly. Jockey M Kennedy advised that, in her opinion, after beginning awkwardly and losing ground the filly was disadvantaged from that point. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
WINDOW TAPPER- Began awkwardly. Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start, clipped heels and blundered as a result. Shifted out abruptly to improve passing the 200m. Whilst no tangible interference occurred, Stewards nonetheless reminded Jockey K Yoshida of his obligations to exercise care in shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
JACKS AND SODA- Bumped on jumping before being tightened for room and obliged to be restrained. Improved onto heels having to be steadied approaching the 400m.
 
ALMOST EVEN- Bumped on jumping before being crowded, awkwardly placed on heels and having to be steadied. Raced keenly on heels having to be steadied approaching the 500m and again approaching the 400m.

TWILIGHT SPARKLE- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily crowded approaching the 900m.
 
 
Race 4: PLATINUM GLASS & SECURITY CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1200m
 
SNEAKY SHARK- Restrained off heels passing the 1100m, shifted in and bumped.
 
GREYLANDER- Bumped on jumping.
 
NEW MAHER- Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Tilley advised that his mount never travelled comfortable in running but could offer no tangible reasons for the performance. Trainer C Geran advised that the stable were disappointed with the performance having expected a forward showing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer C Geran further undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition in the coming days.
 
ECHO HUNTER- Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
MORE MAX- Bumped on jumping. Bumped approaching the 1100m. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight before being shifted wider passing the 200m.
 
SUPER RUPERT- Raced in restricted room for a short distance after entering the home straight.
 
DENMAN BLUE- Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly when attempting to be restrained near the 800m in an effort to obtain cover, permitted to stride forward from that point before settling in a one-off position outside the leader near the 600m.
 
DISTANT SECRET- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barrier and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 7:15pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 7:15pm:
 
0cents in the dollar for the win
4cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
6cents in the dollar for 2nd place
2cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer A Park was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
MY MOSES- Shifted in approaching the 1100m when not fully clear of SNEAKY SHARK, causing the runner to be restrained. Jockey M Wishart was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards identified a concerted effort from Jockey Wishart immediately prior to the incident as attributed some fault of the incident to the racing manners of her mount. Nonetheless, Stewards advised Jockey Wishart that a greater effort would be expected at an earlier juncture in similar circumstances going forward.
 
 
Race 5: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP    1625m
 
MIKKI EIGHT- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Held up passing the 300m, shifted wider to obtain clear running and bumped.
 
CHAMPAGNE POP- Slow to begin.
 
HOT BANANAS- Stewards permitted Jockey N Tomizawa to be substituted as rider of the mare when Jockey J Huxtable was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties. Began awkwardly. Shifted in when not fully clear of REFORMIST passing the 1400m causing that runner to be restrained. Jockey N Tomizawa was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident. In considering the incident Stewards noted the racing manners of REFORMIST which may have marginally exacerbated the interference.
 
REFORMIST- Obliged to restrain off heels passing the 1400m and over-raced for a short distance thereafter. Laid out rounding the home turn. Bumped on entering the home straight. Stewards noted that Jockey Hammersley’s elbow made contact with another rider on entering the home straight. It was determined that REFORMIST was laying out prior to this occurring and Jockey Hammersley’s efforts to correct his mount had caused his elbow to become elevated, as well as the fact MIKKI EIGHT had been shifted wider at that point to obtain clear running and contributed to the contact occurring. Nonetheless, Stewards advised Jockey P Hammersley to review his technique in straightening his mounts to ensure his riding and actions in similar circumstances are at all times beyond reproach.
 
PANNIER (NZ)- Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward passing the 1500m settling in a forward position near the 1300m. Raced keenly down the back straight. Laid out between the 500m-400m. Stewards noted App C Vitler’s elbow became elevated when in close proximity to another rider near the 400m. Stewards determined that PANNIER was laying out at that time and it was the corrective efforts employed by App Vitler which caused his elbow to become elevated, additionally it was noted HOT BANANAS to the inside was also laying out at that time which contributed to the close proximity of the riders. Nonetheless, Stewards advised App C Vitler to review his technique in straightening his mounts to ensure his riding and actions in similar circumstances are at all times beyond reproach.
 
 
Race 6: PRYDE'S EASIFEED MAIDEN HANDICAP         1625m
 
YIPPEE BEAN- Raced keenly down the back straight. Laid in passing the 1200m and bumped. Commenced to tire from the 400m. Performed disappointingly. Trainer M Currie advised that the stable were disappointed with the performance having expected a forward showing with the gelding impressing in its recent work. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Currier further undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition in the coming days.
 
PORTOLA (NZ)- Raced keenly  passing the 1000m. Bumped approaching the 400m.
 
SHE DELIVERS- Bumped on jumping. Jockey J Huxtable was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
I'M INSPIRED (NZ)- Raced keenly passing the 1300m. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
STPETERSCATHEDRAL- Slow into stride. Raced keenly passing the 1300m.
 
MAN TALK- Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
FIONTE- Improved onto heels and shifted out abruptly and bumped PORTOLA approaching he 400m. Jockey G Cartwright was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BOMBAY BRAWLER- Bumped passing the 1200m. Raced keenly down the back straight.
 
 
Race 7: WHOLESALE HORSEWEAR HOUSE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP       1920m
 
Prior to the commencement of the meeting it was identified that the distance for the event was incorrectly advertised as 1890m. A correction was advertised by way of social media address and on course announcement advising the amended distance of 1920m, given the rail being positioned out 5meters from the true line.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer K Kemp to view footage of the concluding stages to ascertain whether grounds for an objection against HELEVA DEEL being declared the winner were present. After viewing the footage Trainer K Kemp elected not to proceed with any objection.
 
Declaration of correct weight was further delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the concluding stages to ascertain whether ADALISSA had carried its weight from the start of the race to the winning post. After viewing footage of the event, particularly the concluding stages, with consideration to AR209(3) it was identified that Jockey G Cartwright was at all times, from the start of the race until the mare had passed the winning post, in contact with her mount and/or a part of her mounts gear. As such, Stewards determined ADALISSA had carried its weight in accordance with the rules. Subsequently, correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers with the mare officially finishing in 4th place.
 
HELEVA DEEL- Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA- Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted in marginally approaching the 1600m and crowded DEL CAMPO. Shifted in again leaving the 1600m when not fully clear of DEL CAMPO causing that runner to be restrained. App S Callow was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter, Stewards determined that the racing manners of DEL CAMPO leading into the incident were a marginal mitigating factor which slightly exacerbated the interference. Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
KNEZE- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and was momentarily crowded approaching the 1600m before having to be restrained from heels leaving the 1600m.Checked from the heels of a fallen runner over the concluding stages.  
 
RUBY'S LAD- Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DEL CAMPO- Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
ADALISSA- Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Commenced to lay in under pressure near the 50m before going amiss in its action approaching the winning post, blundering severely and dislodging Jockey G Cartwright. An immediate veterinary examination revealed a catastrophic fracture to the near foreleg and the mare was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Post-mortem blood samples were taken for analysis. Jockey G Cartwright was examined by QAS officers, with consideration to the QRIC concussion protocol, and declared free of any injury. Nonetheless, given the nature of the incident Jockey Cartwright was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to riding again.
 
ANDAI STEPPES (NZ)- Commenced to tire from the 500m.
 
 
Following the running of this event, Stewards, along with a delegation of senior riders, undertook an inspection of the racing surface between the 100m and the winning post and identified no areas of safety concern.
 
 
Race 8: MOORE TRAILERS CLASS 4 HANDICAP         1200m
 
THIS IS ONE- Began awkwardly.
 
FUN SPONGE- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride before being crowded.
 
SEMPREINTE- Commenced to yield ground from the 400m and finished tailed off. Jockey K Zechner advised that, after commencing to give ground near the 400m his mount soon after felt short in its action, though he did not feel the gelding was sore, but rather exhibiting signs of a lack of fitness. As such, he did not place his mount under any undue pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with Trainer C Geran as to the geldings condition in the coming days.
 
UPSTART LEGEND- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
 
SADDLE BOY- Shifted in and bumped the inside running rail approaching the 500m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
