Race 1: WARRA HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE - 825m
1st – SECOND HAND LION 2nd – EVERINGHAM 3rd – CINQ DES COEURS 4th-SEALEGS LILLY

The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of the ambulance.

FLYING EMPIRE – Stood flat footed, then bucked for a considerable distance after the start and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer B. Waldron was advised he would need to obtain a further barrier certificate for FLYING EMPIRE prior to the gelding racing again.

DRAGON TOPS – Raced wide throughout.

SAPPHIRE QUEST – Hung out for a short distance near the 400m.

EVERINGHAM – Bumped another runner rounding the home turn.

SEALEGS LILLY – Bumped another runner rounding the home turn.


Race 2: ASSOCIATED GRAINS & DALBY RURAL TRADERS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1100m
1st – BUSH BEAT 2nd – IMILCHE 3rd – CHILLDOWN 4th – FIELDS OF OXLEY

SAGACIOUS LADY – Stood flat footed at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer B. Waldron was advised a warning would be placed on the mare.

CHILLDOWN – Slow to begin.

SHE BRINGS JOY – Raced three wide without cover.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD – Raced wide throughout.

IMILCHE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Missen was reminded of his obligations to correct his mount when shifting ground.

MOSS TANK – Checked from the heels of a tiring runner near the 100m and shifted out to obtain clear running. Held up over the concluding stages. Apprentice L. Tilley reported that the gelding is better suited to races over a longer distance than today’s event.

MISS AMABELLA – Jockey L. Appo reported that the filly did not travel comfortably throughout the event, which he attributed to the firm track conditions.


Race 3: AGRIFOODS AUSTRALIA & ASSOC. SPONSERS QTIS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200m
1st – STARBYTE 2nd – TEEMOLTON 3rd – MISS YOU JOHNNY 4th – CRYSTAL BEACH

After being fractious in the barriers FOR OF US was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 2.26pm. All monies invested on FOR OF US were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #1
2 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #1
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place # 9

Trainer R. Hilton was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of FOR OF US. Jockey D. McIntosh was examined by ambulance officers and cleared to take his remaining rides.

The announcement of correct weight was delayed to allow jockey J. Missen, rider of CRYSTAL BEACH, to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the film J. Missen was satisfied with the start and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

CRYSTAL BEACH – Stood flat-footed and lost significant ground. After considering the circumstances, steward advised trainer’s representative R. Faehr that a warning would be placed on the filly. Bumped near the 100m.

ALWAYS DOUBLE – Slow to begin.

AL’S MODERN – Raced wide throughout.

PET DRAGON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped another runner near the 100m.

MISS YOU JOHNNY – Held up over the concluding stages.


Race 4: CROWE HORWATH & ASSOC. SPONSORS OPEN HANDICAP – 1200m
1st – GAELSTORM 2nd – BRADY’N’ME 3rd – ON ICE NOW 4th – WINNER WIMMER

Immediately prior to the running of this race a power outage occurred on course, resulting in no photo finish image being available. All trainers were notified prior to the start of event and were willing to proceed with placings determined from video footage.

Due to the power outage, the scale used for weighing out were not operational. As all riders had weighed out correctly and stewards were satisfied that all runners had carried their allotted weights, correct weight was declared under the provisions of AR 142.

WINNER WIMMER – Raced wide throughout.

GAELSTORM – Raced in restricted room near the 150m.


Race 5: PATRON’S & JOHNSONS’S HOLDEN & NISSAN DEALERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200m
1st – GLENTHORN AVENUE 2nd – DAYZARI 3rd – PLATTERS 4th – LE MAX

Power was restored prior to the running of this race, however the photo finish camera was run on an alternative power supply.

Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey S. Apthorpe, rider of LE MAX, to view the photo finish image and apprentice B. Newport, rider of PLATTERS, to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against second placegetter DAYZARI. After viewing the relevant image and film both riders were satisfied with the judge’s placings and declined to lodge an objection, and correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers.

M’SIEUR MONTPELIER – Slow to begin.

INNER BLU – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

GOLD PAN – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

PLATTERS – Raced in restricted room and was held up for clear running over the final 100m after improving into a narrow run to the inside of another runner.
