GENERAL

Due to transport difficulties, D. Peisley was not riding at today’s meeting and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

The Integrity Regulatory Unit today conducted random stable inspections of trainers with runners competing at today’s Warwick race meeting. As a result of these inspections, stewards imposed a $200 fine on trainers B. Tattam, N. Hilton and G. Schwenke for failing to provide a record book of treatment when required to do so.

Stewards interviewed a patron who had entered the course proper during the running of Race 7. After taking initial evidence and referring the matter to Queensland Police, stewards adjourned the matter to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 1: WARWICK HOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M

Due to a traffic accident, some runners were delayed in arriving at the track, which resulted in the start being delayed by approximately 3 minutes.

POLE VOLTER – Raced greenly in the early stages.

MAXIMUM BREAK – Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced greenly throughout.

SHOCKWAVE – As apprentice J. Oliver failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement, he was replaced by apprentice T. Williams. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by apprentice Oliver.

The track was upgraded to FIRM 2 after the running of this event.

Race 2: HUTCHISON QUARRIES CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M

Correct weight was delayed to review the patrol footage to determine whether DAZZLING SHIRAZ had obtained an unfair advantage at the start. After reviewing the films, stewards were satisfied that DAZZLING SHIRAZ lunged forward simultaneously as the gates were opening and therefore were satisfied that the horse did not gain an advantage. Correct weight was then declared.

TANI TEI EN – Tightened for room at the start.

GLAMORGAN BOY – Raced wide from the 700m.

COCKTAIL THONG – Tightened for room at the start.

MOUNT PERRY – Stewards questioned trainer M. Palmer in relation to the horse’s improved performance. Mr Palmer advised that first up from a spell on 18 September the gelding raced on a heavy track, which was to its detriment on that occasion and explained the poor performance. Mr Palmer added that the horse jumped out well subsequent to its first-up run and he expected a forward showing today based on that jump out and the fitness benefit the horse would have derived from its first-up start.

BLESSINGS – Slow to begin.

UNIT – Hampered at the start by another runner.

Race 5: BLUE CHIP ACCOUNTING CLASS 3 PLATE – 1500M

RING TRUE – Began awkwardly.
