GENERAL
Due to this meeting being transferred from Tuesday 18 February 2020, a number of riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
As Apprentice A. Patis was not attending the meeting today due to illness, riding replacements were made in Races 1, 3 and 7 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice Patis was advised that she will require a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1100M
QUEENOFTHECASTLE – Bumped near the 800m. Steadied from heels near the 750m. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
SECONDOFMAY – Bumped on jumping away. Shifted out to improve near the 300m and, in doing so, bumped another runner.
FLYING CRACKERJAK – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 800m. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m. Apprentice Z. White was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
OUR ARIANA – Slow to begin. Hung out from the 600m. Bumped by another runner near the 300m and became unbalanced. Raced in restricted room and became unbalanced near the 100m and, as a result, shifted wider on the track. On return to scale, jockey T. Marshall reported that his mount raced greenly throughout, and also had a tendency to hang out. Trainer D. Forster reported that in light of today’s performance, the filly will now be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 2: TAB CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1100M
After becoming fractious in the barriers, REMEMBER MARY underwent a veterinary examination, and was declared a late scratching at 11.42am on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on REMEMBER MARY be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

JACKPOT – Jockey S. Lacy was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
No racing incidents.
Race 3: TAB MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
GALVARINO – Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice I. Rabjones was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
DENCH – Slow to begin.
LOVE IS ALL AROUND – Jockey J. Orman was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
TICINO BELLE – Shifted out abruptly near the 1000m. Jockey M. Du Plessis was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Du Plessis’ prior good record in relation to this rule.
ROMAN RUBY – Jockey S. Sweeney was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Sweeney’s exemplary record in relation to this rule.
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded for a Soft 5 to a Good 4.
Race 4: TAB CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
The start of this race was delayed when THE FLYING SCOT had to be resaddled upon arriving at the barriers.
RERUN – Severely tightened for room and checked at the start. Jockey J. Orman was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of jockey Orman’s whip use.
ROCK ME HUSSEY – Laid out rounding the home turn.
STUDLY ROOSTER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
HEY DOLL – Became fractious in the barriers and was heavily bumped on jumping away.
KATARINA – Jockey B. Ainsworth was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
THE FLYING SCOT – Hung out rounding the home turn.
SHE’S RUBICOOL – Bumped heavily at the start. Jockey M. Du Plessis was reprimanded for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
Race 5: TAB BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 800M
Immediately following the race, the Judge semaphored number 12, JACKO’S A NATURAL, rather than number 2, GOOD GRAB, as the second placegetter in the race. The error was quickly rectified by the Judge, and GOOD GRAB (No. 2) was correctly semaphored as the second placegetter.
GOOD GRAB – Began awkwardly.
PHONY PONY – Had difficulty securing clear running whilst laying in for some distance in the home straight.
MAHOE GOLD – Tightened for room on jumping away.
MAGIC SCENT – Began awkwardly and shifted wider on the track shortly after the start.
IMABARMAN – Jockey H. Phillips was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Phillips’ recent record in relation to this rule.
THE BUMBLEBEE – Apprentice Z. White was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
GENERAL WITT – Jockey R. Palmer was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 6: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 H’CAP – 1500M
FORT MYER – Jockey H. English was reprimanded for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
ZAMZARA – Raced keenly in the early stages and hung out from the 700m.
LEGS UNBARRED – Jockey A. Fancourt was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1100M
SEE FOR YOURSELF – Apprentice M. Savva was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
POLE VOLTER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
ANOTHER SHEILA – Tightened for room at the start.
GWENDOLINE ROSE – Began awkwardly.
RUBY RUSH – Tightened for room at the start.
TINDER – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
