Supplementary from NANANGO 25th June 2022 – Race 2 Benchmark 50 Hdcp.
Trainer G Richardson reported RED GADGET had pulled up satisfactorily following its disappointing performance, however it was now his intention to spell the horse.
 
 
 
Race 1 - Maiden Plate - 800 METRES
 
CAPTURED IN TIME – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA IVYSAUR – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start.  Bumped on the hindquarters near the 700 metres.
 
FURNACE ON FIRE – Fractious leaving the enclosure.
 
TISANI BOOM – Fractious in the enclosure and briefly broke away from the attendant. On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.  Commenced to buck shortly after the start and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer K Kemp was advised TISANI BOOM must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
BONA DEA – Jumped out at the start and bumped MAHIGRANT.  Inclined to lay out in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
DRAGON’S JUSTICE – Began awkwardly.  Near the 700 metres was awkwardly placed and crowded on to the hindquarters of CRAIGLEA IVYSAUR when taken out by BONA DEA, which laid out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
MAHIGRANT – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start.  Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
LEXUS LADY – Jumped in at the start and bumped RISING SPIRIT.  Raced wide throughout. On pulling up attempted to jump the crossing at the 1600 metres resulting in App M Savva being dislodged.  App M Savva was examined by QAS staff and passed fit to fulfil her remaining riding engagements. A post-race veterinary examination of LEXUS LADY revealed no abnormalities.
 
RISING SPIRIT – Bumped at the start.  Raced wide throughout. 
 
 
Race 2 - Maiden Plate - 1100 METRES
 
RAGING WATER – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S Champkin, rider of RAGING WATER,  was reprimanded under AR132(7)(ii)(a) for use of the whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted. 
 
POIGNANT – Jumped in at the start and bumped RED HOT LOVE.  Hampered shortly after the start.
 
TABOO – When moving onto the track contacted the enclosure gate.  Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start.  Shortly after the start laid out resulting in RED HOT LOVE, POIGNANT and CONTESSA NILE all being placed in restricted room and hampered. 
 
TUSCAN BELLE – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, Co- trainer G Lane advised today was the horse’s first start for the stable and it would now be his intention to remove the cross over nose band and tongue tie going forward.
 
CONTESSA NILE – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
GODDESS OF DREAMS – Apprentice T Wheeler, rider of GODDESS OF DREAMS, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(ii)(a) for use of the whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. 
 
RED HOT LOVE – Jumped out at the start and bumped POIGNANT.  Hampered shortly after the start. Near the 800 metres had to be steadied when crowded for room by POIGNANT which shifted in when insufficiently clear.  Apprentice E Lang, rider of POIGNANT, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) in this incident.
 
 
 
Race 3 - Maiden Plate - 1350 METRES
 
MOTION SENSOR – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight before shifting out passing the 200 metres to obtain clear running.
 
TRUTH OR DARE – When asked to comment on the performance, rider K Zechner stated the horse did not appreciate the fast early pace of the race and would better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today.
 
TWO SHADES – Raced three-wide for the majority of the event without cover.
 
CIAO BICKY – Raced three-wide for the majority of the event with cover. Near the 800 metres raced greenly and had to be steadied.
 
PICCOLO NIKKI – Slow to begin.
 
KABALEGA – Slow to begin.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4 - Class B Handicap - 1350 METRES
 
DISCO DAMO – Approaching the 300 metres shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider.  A short distance later, when inclined to lay in, shied in and away from the whip of the rider of HOLY CHARIOT, resulting in IMITARI being crowded for room and VERY SOON, which was weakening, being bumped. Trainer M Currie was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of DISCO DAMO.  Mr Currie advised Stewards the horse would now be leaving his stable.
 
THE CROW MAN – Raced three-wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice E MacPherson, rider of THE CROW MAN, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(ii)(a) for use of the whip on eight (8) occasions prior to the 100 metres, three more than permitted. 
 
HISGRACE – Slow to begin.
 
PRITI PIPER – Slow to begin.
 
HOLY CHARIOT – Bumped approaching the 300 metres.
 
MY GIRL SPIRIT – Near the 900 metres put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced.
 
JUSTAWAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VERY SOON – When asked to comment on tactics adopted, rider L Miller stated instructions were to lead and be positive on the horse as it is one-paced, adding that VERY SOON travelled comfortably throughout the race however when placed under pressure from the 400m was disappointing. Trainer G Barbierato confirmed the instructions issued. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 5 - BENCHMARK 60 Handicap - 1500 METRES
 
VINASTA – Approaching the 900 metres momentarily steadied when MAHA MUSTANG shifted in.
 
HIGH I CUE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ABB ROY – Raced three-wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
 
Race 6 - BENCHMARK 55 Handicap - 1100 METRES
 
KNOWITALL JACK – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, rider K Yoshida stated the horse travelled fairly in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure from the 400 metres, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer M Kropp was of the opinion the 60.5kg impost had a detrimental effect on the horse’s performance today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 
 
ARTIE’S DESTINY – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CYCLONE DIVA – Apprentice J Williams, rider of CYCLONE DIVA, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(ii)(a) for use of the whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. 
 
RURAL REBEL – Jumped out at the start and bumped KING BART. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KING BART – Bumped at the start.
 
 
 
Race 7 – BENCHMARK 55 Handicap - 1100 METRES
 
GRAND CHALLENGE – Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
INTIMAGE TYCOON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIR BULLEE – Slow to begin.
 
LOUVRE LIL – Checked shortly after the start when PEACHIES DREAM shifted out abruptly.
 
DARCIE GIRL – Lost both the near-fore and near-hind plates during the event. Began awkwardly.
 
FILLYRAE CYRUS – Eased down by the rider in the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in both hind legs.  Trainer S Sixtus was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
 
 
 
Race 8 – BENCHMARK 65 Handicap – 1200 METRES
 
VOULAIT – As the horse competed at yesterday’s Gold Coast meeting 25th June 2022, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.  Jumped out at the start and bumped GRANDIOSO.
 
SILESIAN – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
TABARD – Over-raced and had to be steadied from heels near the 800 metres.
After improving onto heels near the 600 metres, shifted out and then raced wide from that point.
 
GRANDIOSO – Bumped at the start and lost ground.  Held up rounding the home turn.
 
STRYKING PRINCESS – Jumped out at the start and bumped SWEET VENOM.  Near the 800 metres was momentarily steadied when SHOTGUN SONNY shifted in when not fully clear. G Geran, rider of SHOTGUN SONNY, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SWEET VENOM – Bumped at the start.
 
TYCOON DANCER – Raced three-wide with cover for the majority of the event.
