GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting:
 
Race 1- S McGovern +1kg
 
 
Trainer C Jokic was fined $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on TIERRA DEL FUEGO in Race 6
 
Trainer I Turner was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on MIDNIGHT BOOM in Race 7
 
Trainer R Lipp was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on CANNY CAT and GINGER ROCK in Races 5 & 7 respectively.
 
 
Race 1: WOODY & MAURICE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1500m
 
JIMMY GIGGLE- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn before shifting out to improve near the 350m.
 
GUTHO- Raced keenly down the back straight.
 
CORSUCAN- Restrained from the heels of a tiring runner and shifted out passing the 500m. Bumped on entering the top straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LEERY- Shifted out to improve approaching the 300m and bumped with PAR UN NEZ which shifted out and bumped CORSUCAN. Jockey K Zechner was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground to improve.
 
RED OSCAR- Slow into stride. Jockey W D’Avila advised he dropped his whip soon after entering the home straight.
 
BAGUIO- Raced keenly in the early stages and becoming awkward in its action near the 1300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the hind fetlocks consistent with being galloped on in running.
 
BODDINGTON- Raced keenly down the back straight.
 
CALLYWAG- Raced keenly in the early stages. Improved onto heels and eased passing the 500m.
 
HALLSIDE WILDTHING- A pre-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right-fore fetlock. As a result the gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching on Veterinary advice at 12:05pm. As on course betting had not commenced no deductions were applicable.
 
PAR UN NEZ- Laid in for the majority. Buffeted between runners on entering the home straight. Raced wide for the majority. Faltered in its action passing the 250m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed  the gelding to be lame in the near-fore knee. Given the nature of the injury Trainer A Park was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness accompanied with results of a satisfactory x-ray to the affected leg must be provided to Stewards prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
QUEEN LUWELL- Raced wide from the 600m.
 
RAGING WATER- After beginning well and being caught wide elected to make a forward move soon after the start and obtained a leading position closer to the inside running rail near the 1100m. Laid out rounding the 600ma and home turn.
 
SNAP THE LUCK- Laid out rounding the 600m and home turn.
 
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Soft 5
 
 
Race 2: FONTANA BROS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 800m
 
SHEEZASINGA- Bumped on jumping. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
 
VICEMAN- Raced wide for the majority.
 
DEVIL’S RITE- Shifted in and bumped on jumping. Laid in passing the 600m momentarily crowding another runner. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
LILLI LIGHTS OUT- Shifted out and away from heels passing the 100m.
 
BONGANI- Bumped on jumping. Lost both front plates in running.
 
HIDDEN SPRING- Bumped on jumping and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels as a result. Momentarily crowded near the 600m. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
 
KING’S GOLD- Began awkwardly.
 
ROCKBARTON PAT- Began Awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 3: ELBOW VALLEY PARK MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
BIRMINGHAM- On being inspected before entering the mounting yard broke free from its handler and cantered a short distance out of the tie-up area before quickly returning to the tie-ups and being secured. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
INCLUSION- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MY WHISTLE BLOWER- Bumped on jumping before being bumped by a further runner. Bumped passing the 1100m.
 
SKY SPRINTER- Bumped passing the 1100m.
 
TERMITE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISSY’S READY- Raced wide for the majority.
 
RED HOT LOVE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped on jumping before being eased. Improved onto heels having to be eased leaving the 800m.
 
ALBERTA THE FOX- Bumped soon after the start.
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 4
 
 
 
Race 4: GLENGALA RACING QTIS 3yo MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
RIDER OF ROHAN- Raced wide for the majority.
 
TALK TIME- Bumped passing the 700m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SO DARING- Jockey J Kissick pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 700m he did shift in when insufficiently clear of BETTER YET causing that runner to be restrained and shift out bumping TALK TIME and IMPOSIING TIGED, which was racing keenly, to become awkwardly placed on heels and steadied. Jockey Kissicks license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 12th February up to and including the 21st February. Jockey Kissick was advised of his right to an internal review.
 
THE VERESDALE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI KINGDOM- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
 
LORD GOLD- Shifted out and away form another runner which shifted out abruptly approaching the 1000m. Shifted out and away from heels near the 100m.
 
BETTER YET- Restrained off heels passing the 700m and shifted out bumping another runner.
 
MMISS MANSFIELD- Bumped the inside running rail near the 1100m.
 
REDVEDEV- Began awkwardly. Shifted out abruptly passing the 1000m causing App Willis to become unbalanced. Raced keenly on heels and eased passing the 800m. Stewards questioned App Willis regarding her riding of the gelding in the home straight specifically, why she shifted out passing the 100m allowing the eventual winner MISHANI KINGDOM to improve to her inside. App Willis advised that she had been obliged to shift out to obtain clear running as only a marginal run presented to the inside of TALK TIME, however her mount had shifted out further than she had intended. Stewards noted App Willi’s explanation and advised her to use more measured efforts when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
IMPOSING TIGER- Raced keenly down the back straight and became awkwardly placed on heels near the 700m having to be steadied.
 
 
 
Race 5: THE JUICE BAR BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
 
DANAWI- Jockey P Hamblin was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
DICKENSIAN- Began awkwardly.
 
DON’T DISS AROUND- Slow into stride.
 
BETTER EXPLAIN- Performed below market expectations. Jockey E Chaves advised his mount had been inclined to lay out throughout the event and had performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SERTIN- Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 6: SUPPORT CANCER CURE – FOR MATT STANDING RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP 1200m
 
BY BY MUSIC- Bumped on jumping. Stewards queried the tactics adopted on the gelding specifically the pace set after obtaining the lead. App A Donald advised that after being caught wide she elected to press forward to obtain a leading position closer to the inside running rail. App Donald stated that, with the benefit of hindsight, she had erred by not attempting to slow the pace somewhat after obtaining the lead. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
BULSARA- Raced keenly in the middle stages. Took the 800m turn awkwardly.
 
GREY NOISE- Shifted out around heels to improve passing the 300m and bumped.
 
DRAGON PINS- Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ZANAZOU- Began awkwardly and bumped having to be eased.
 
BEYONDTASTIC- Buffeted and eased on jumping.
 
BRING THE LOVE- Began awkwardly.
 
MISHANI SCANDAL- Bumped passing the 300m.
 
ARRIVERDERCI ROMA- Buffeted on jumping.
 
ZAYDE- Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination reveal the gelding to be sore in the off fetlock. Trainer S Thomas was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
MISHANI PHAROAH- Shifted in and bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 800m.
 
 
 
Race 7: PATRON GARRY ADCOCK FILLIES & MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350m
 
GINGER ROCK- Under went a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
ENTERPRISE JEWEL- Began awkwardly. App E Lang dropped her reins approaching the winning post before quickly regathering.
 
IN GREAT NIC- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. App S Champkin dropped he reins near the 250m before quickly regathering.
 
MIDNIGHT BOOM- Crowded on jumping.
 
DOTNED- Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
 
Race 8: KO RACING COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350m
 
PIZZO- Laid out passing the 800m. Crowded on entering the home straight. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L Hatch advised that, in his opinion, the gelding had come to the end of its preparation and would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
VANTAN EXPRESS- Raced keenly down the back straight. Bumped passing the 800m.
 
THAT’LLDOTOO- Proved reluctant to load into the barrier.
 
MANDALONG NERO- Shifted out and bumped passing the 800m.
 
CONISMO- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride. Finished somewhat tailed off. Trainer S Sixtus was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings competitiveness.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride.
 
ZEELUCK- Raced keenly when crossed near the 1100m. Shifted out soon after and raced wide from that point.
 
 
 
Race 9: WARWICK ICE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m
 
ELIZANO- Slow to begin.
 
LINCOLN TOWN- Bumped soon after the start. Bumped passing the 1900m. Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped passing the 1500m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DINNY’S A SUSPECT- Bumped on jumping. App L Sykes pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he did shift in when insufficiently clear of YOUNG CLIFFY passing the 1900m causing that runner to be restrained, shift in and bumped with LINCOLN TOWN. App Sykes license to ride in race was subsequently suspended for a period of 7 days to commence 12th February up to and including 18th February. App Sykes was advised of his right to an internal review. Became momentarily awkward in its action near the 1500m.
 
EAST ESPLANADE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MASTER OF MENACE- Bumped on jumping.
 
YOUNG CLIFFY- Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted in and bumped again soon after. Obliged to restrain passing the 1900mm and shift in bumping with another runner. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALATUN- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BOULT- App S Champkin was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 8 occasions, 3 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
ROCK PEARL- Laid out and bumped passing the 1500m.
