SUPPLEMENTARY

Wandoan Diggers Race Club 27th May 2023

Race 5- WEZENERGY 2023 BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFYER OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 1100m point where the rider of DIGGITY Jky B Appo did shift inward to improve when insufficiently clear of COYNES ROAD and BULLETIN resulting both horses being tightened for room and the riders having to check their mounts. This incident also resulted in both runners losing ground. Acting under the provision of AR131(a) Stewards issued Jky B Appo with a severe reprimand in relation to the offence.

GENERAL

After the running of Race 3 at today’s program Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4.

Race 1: SOUTHERN DOWNS AG MAIDEN PLATE 800M

BILLY BUNYA- Began awkwardly and then proceeded to over race during the early stages.

DEAD MAN’S HAND- Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

LIGHT UP THE DAWN- Slow to begin and bumped PRIDE OF NALA shortly after the start was affected.

PRIDE OF NALA- Bumped by another runner after the start.

TALANTINO- Laid out in the home straight.

SISTER GEORGIA- The start was delayed when SISTER GEORGIA refused to load. It was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12.33pm. All monies invested on SISTER GEORGIA as a result of the late scratching prior to 12.33pm were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply. The winner- HELLO ANGEL- 13c win and 12c place, 2nd- TALANTINO- 15c and 3rd- PRIDE OF NALA- 15c. Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges. Stewards acting under AR75 advised Trainer C Geran that the Mare would require a barrier pass prior to its next start.

KINGDOM REIGN- Slow to begin.

Race 2: GROVE JUICE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100M

ROTHERO ESSGEE- Over raced during the early stages of the event.

GERTIE GOER- Slow to begin. Dipped in its action at approximately the 200m point in the home straight.

ESPANYOL- Raced wide with no cover for the majority.

STRIKE THE NIGHT- Raced wide for the majority of the event and then continued to race wider after entering the home straight for the remainder.

SQUADOM- Lost ground at the 1000m point.

ARLIZAR- Slow to begin and as a result raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Trainer S Sixtus will be advised in coming days by Stewards acting under the provision of AR 75 that the horse would have a Warning placed on it for being uncompetitive.

Race 3: JAMIE MACDONALD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100M

ROWDASH- Began awkwardly and bumped another runner shortly after the start. Approaching the 800m point shifted out marginally resulting in BLOOD BLISTER being inconvenienced for a short distance. Appr Jky S McCann was advised by Stewards to exercise more care in running.

LITTLE VISTA- Jky D Smith on returning to scale that LITTLE VISTA was galloped on at approximately the 700m point. Stewards ordered that a Veterinary examination be undertaken, this examination revealed a minor cut on the near hind leg. The attending Veterinarian advised that a Vet Certificate was not required.

FLASH ZARIZ- Was slow into stride as the start was affected. Raced at the rear of the field and wide for the majority of the event ran on well over the final stages.

ZEELUCK- Began awkwardly and make contact with the barrier partition. Raced wide for the majority.

PETA CALADA- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

GOLDEN GROOVE- Laid in for some distance in the home straight despite the riders’ efforts. Stewards acting under AR75 advised Trainer G Osbourne that a Warning would be placed on the horse for hanging in.

BLOOD BLISTER- Was inconvenienced when approaching the 800m as a result of another runner shifting out momentarily.

RUN RAMPANT- Raced at the rear of the field and uncompetitively throughout.

Race 4: BILL & MARGARET HOIBERG MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350M

TOP TRICKS- Slow to begin and then raced wide for the majority of the event.

SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR- Was dictated outward when entering the home straight. Then began to lay in after entering the home straight for some distance before being corrected by the rider.

DOLLY DISCO- Slow to begin.

MY DAY- Laid in for some distance when entering the home turn dictating SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR outward and then continued to lay in after entering the home straight despite the best efforts of the rider.

VALLEY OF HOPE- After beginning well at the 1100m was holding its position and then at the 800m began to lose ground and racing ungenerously from that point. It then proceeded to race at the rear of the field before being retired out of the event by its rider at approximately the 300m point. Stewards ordered that a Veterinary examination be undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Stewards spoke with Appr Jky S Champkin who advised that the horse refused to push on and improve from the 800m despite her efforts to do so. She also advised that the horse felt okay in its action and just refused to race competitively. Stewards advised Trainer Mr. J Brown that VALLEY OF HOPE would be required to undertake an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to the next start.

Race 5: REBUILD RELIEF QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350M

REDVEDEV- Over raced approaching the 1250m point for some distance.

CALLYWAG- Approaching the 1200m had to ease from heels changing direction to the outside of CHANTILLY MOON which hung in. Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event.

LOVE LOCH- Held up momentarily when approaching the 400m.

BETTER BELIEVE IT- Began awkwardly when jumped outward, then was tightened for room after the start and lost ground. Laid in for some distance in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.

CHANTILLY MOON- Began awkwardly and jumped in tightening BETTER BELIEVE IT for room at the start. Was bumped by JESSAVET to the inside and at approximately the 1200m appeared to shy away from REDVEDEV and blunder before being corrected by the rider. Raced greenly and hung in for a short distance from that point inconveniencing CALLYWAG whose rider had to ease from heels. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

JESSAVET- Slow to begin. Raced greenly during the early stages of the event bumped CHANTILLY MOON.

Due to the close margin between 1st and 2nd Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Trainers Mr. K Kemp and Mr. S O’Dea and Jky K Yoshida an opportunity to view the official photo. All parties were satisfied with the Judges placings and Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the Judges.

Race 6: ERGON ENERGY CLASS B HANDICAP 1350M

AMISFIELD- Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.

QUEST OF QUESTS- At approximately the 1200m point was inconvenienced by a runner to the inside and as a result was forced outward dictating out OLY BOOM and EMIRATE PRIDE.

SISPHEAN- At the 1200m point when racing keenly on heels shifted ground in an effort to improve to obtain a more forward position. This shift resulted in QUEST OF QUESTS, OLY BOOM and EMIRATE PRIDE being forced outwards with those runners being inconvenienced. Stewards opened an inquiry into the matter however, had to adjourn it due to Jky C Eaton having to fulfill her rides at Toowoomba. Stewards will convene an inquiry at a day to be fixed.

LYNCHED- Raced at the rear of the field during the early stages and ran on strongly after entering the home straight.

OLY BOOM- At approximately the 1200m point was inconvenienced by a runner to the inside.

JETSET ANNIE- From the 900m raced at the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. On returning to the mounting enclosure the Mare was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this run was the second episode of the horse bleeding from both nostrils acting under AR79 (6) a lifetime ban from racing in Australia would be placed on the horse.

EMIRATE PRIDE- At approximately the 1200m point was dictated outward by the runner to its inside. It was then forced to race wide without cover from that point for the majority of the event.

PALENTIFUL- Raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 7: WARWICK AUTOMOTIVE PICNIC CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1500M

LAURIE- Laid in under pressure in the home straight and bumped MARTINI DANCER.

RAPIDO- GRUIS- Raced wide for the majority.

HERECUM DA DRUMS- Slow to begin.

CHANEL- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ILIKEIT ILOVEIE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TUSCAN LEATHER- Laid in under pressure in the home straight,

SARODEC- Raced wide for the majority and then extremely wide after entering the home straight for the remainder.

MARTINI DANCER- Bumped by LAURIE in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider.

Race 8: DAVID CORY MEMORIAL PICNIC CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1500M

BARCLAY’S BANK- Raced wide for the majority.

JAZZ- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.

YAMUMZA- Due to a malfunction as the start was being affected on two occasions the Gelding was reluctant to jump and was slowly into stride. After speaking with Trainer M Kropp, Appr Jky E Lang and Starter Mr. T Woodham stewards were satisfied that a malfunction with the barriers had occurred, and Mr. Woodham gave an undertaking that no further incidents such as this would occur in the forceable future. It was the opinion of Stewards that YAMUMZA which finished in second position would not have beaten the winner even had the incident not occurred. And took no further action in relation to the matter.

LOUVRE LIL- Slow to begin and then raced wide and at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
