RACE 1: QTIS Bench Mark 60 Handicap 1100m

EPIC MISS - was slow to begin and was hampered shortly after jumping. In the early stages was reluctant to hold a position on the back of the field. When questioned rider stated that after being hampered in the early stages the mare got back slightly further than her normal pattern of racing, which is to get back. However, as consistent with her previous runs she made ground late and found the line well. Stewards noted the explanation.

LITTLE MISS MOLLY- bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion, connections were advised that the mare will be barred from racing for a period of three months and will only able to resume racing after completing a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.

RACE 2: 1000mt Open Handicap
1st – Glenthorne Avenue 2nd – Cearnach 3rd – Brady ‘n’ Me 4th – Johnnydrama

GLENTHORNE AVENUE - raced wide throughout and made contact with another runner after passing the 150m mark.

CEARNACH - shifted out and bumped another runner at the 300m mark. A protest was lodged by the rider of the second placed horse (CEARNACH) against the winner (GLENTHORNE AVENUE) for alleged interference in the home straight. After viewing the available films and hearing submissions by all parties stewards established that the initial contact was made when CEARNACH shifted out and bumped GLENTHORNE AVENUE at the 300m mark. Then approaching the 150m mark GLENTHORNE AVENUE shifted in and made slight contact with CEARNACH near the 100m. Stewards were of the opinion that GLENTHORNE AVENUE did shift in causing minor interference to CEARNACH. However, bearing in mind the margin of a long neck between the two runners, the stewards could not be satisfied the interference warranted a reversal of the placings. Correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored. At a later enquiry Miss H Phillips (GLENTHORNE AVENUE) was severely reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten her mount when shifting ground in future.
